Exploring Long Plain - Snowy High Country

- This video is a continuation of my family holiday late last year. We head off from Yarrangobily Caves area where we're staying for a day exploring the Long Plain.
We visit; Long Plain Hut, Colemon Homestead, Blue Waterholes and tackle the Nicholls Gorge Walk.
While I recommend the Nicholls Gorge walk, I also recommend you are more prepared than we were. We'd planned to do the much shorter Clarke Gorge walk, but the river was too high so we took on the other walk instead.
This hike is ranked 4/5 for difficulty by NSW Parks and Wildlife, you do need a good sense of direction and fortunately I had access to topographic maps on my phone. The trail is not clearly marked and there are a number of other walking tracks in the immediate area.
We took almost 6 hours to do this hike (mostly due to my lack of fitness), NSW Parks and Wildlife recommend 4-6 hours so allow a good half day. Take plenty of water and be aware that if there has been recent rain, like there was for us, then you may be wading through the Cave Creek along the track!
This was a hugely memorable hike for the family!
Hope your channel keeps building, really enjoy the content. Thanks for sharing.
Thx Ash, much appreciated. Thx for the feedback
Heading here in a few weeks. Thanks for sharing your trip… I love your work. And those brumbies!!! Just beautiful
thx Kylie, much appreciated. For us this was a great trip, just a couple of days but amazing exploring the high plain. Bonus getting great footage of the brumbies!!
Awesome spot Jason, definitely added it to my list! Thanks mate 👍
Cracking spot. Especially if your fitness is better than mine!
You did well mate! Wicked scenery! Cheers
Jim
@@James_James01 thx!
Thanks for the video. Nichols Gorge was bone dry when we visited in 2015. Only took about 1hr30 for the whole walk. Amazing the difference.
Thx Matt, apparently that's the more usual situation. Was amazing to see it running full. You're definitely a little fitter than me, even dry I don't think I'd have done it in 1.5hrs 🙂
It’s a cracking spot Jase, was there a few weeks back, didn’t do the walk as a huge storm was coming through.
Looks like you missed the Cooinbil Hut, it was just past the Murrumbidgee on the right, a awesome hut, up there with the best I reckon.
Well done on the walk. Can’t say I’m looking forward to it when it happens. 😂
Thx for the heads up mate. I reckon your a bit fitter than me so you'll probably do it easy. Was a very scenic walk. Especially since the stream was flowing. Apparently it doesn't flow most of the year
