Thank you for posting your videos on the 8. So many are of the 12. It seems a terrific bote for 1... especially if fishing is the focus. Thanks again.

I'm thinking that for the limited use of the oars.... I might consider a single kayak paddle to be a better choice. Or you could "pole" the boat into shore using that kayak paddle. Do you ever stand up in the boat? I might even consider outriggers. I definitely would also add a bit of flooring in front of the rear seat. 1/2" plywood with holes or even some sort of cross ribbing.

You never gave us your impression of your setup. I've got a 10ft porta bote. I'll be having two people weighing about 380lbs. So with motor weight, fuel and a small amount of gear, and bote weight I'm guessing right at the 585lb weight limit of the bote. I'm looking at 8hp 2 stroke. To be able to move all that weight and hopefully get up on plane

      Hi Thomas,
I mostly used my porta bote 8 alone, with a 14 kg Honda BF 2.3 and some fishing gear. There were never any weight problems. And the boat is very stable even in rough water. With two people there is still enough space, but no recommendation for fishing. Since I also equipped my boat for sailing, a rig mount made of steel profiles is installed in the front of the boat. But you can also see everything on my videos. In my experience, a porta 10 with 8 HP should slide easily with two people and also some gear.

AMICUS that’s what I was thinking too. Wish me luck!
