Extended version of the earlier ymVST chiptune by popular demand. Sounds are still generated using the ymVST YM2149 emulator, with some delay and gate effects (dblue Glitch) applied to some of the tracks.
Sequenced/tracked using Renoise v1.9.
All sounds were manually programmed and generated using an awesome freeware VST Atari ST sound instrument called ymVST (www.preromanbri... ). The gate effect was accomplished by using Glitch VST by dblue.
Every now and then I came back here to listen this masterpiece. I still can’t get enough

btw. I am wondering. can you control modulation in renoise using effects column just as easily as in classical trackers? does it involve sending midi cc to ymvst? in other words, have you used one instance of ymVST for each instrument or is there some more clever solution?
anyway I am going to give it a try. it for sure has much better flexibility for this kind of thing than any modern DAW.
what are you using to run this?
im using FL, and it looks nothing like this.

@HeyLookItsASpah I do not like doing chiptunes in renoise, even with great VSTs. I was playing around with Milkytracker and it was so configurable. I assume you can do the same in Fami but I'm not going to bother learning how now! I use Logic or Renoise for trance etc but chiptunes will definitely be made in Milkytracker now. Thanks for the suggestion.
Chiptunes rock! Though, I have no idea how they're made (if you can tell me that'd be great) if not OH well XD I'll still keep enjoying their awesomeness
@maverick1363 DJ's (disc jockeys) mix two (or more) songs together, they don't produce at all (although some producers DJ for their live performances), so he's not that. He's a producer :P.

Mind you I slightly cheated on the delay and gate effects, although they can be done with a YM + some nifty tracking as well.

berlinhunter49, its so different.. in a tracking environment you use the qwerty keyboard like a musical keyboard and put in numbers for effects such as arpeggiate and such.. in FL you draw in the music you want and choose sounds that have almost no limitations. tracking is actualy downgrade from the sequencers.. but you get a distinctive sound from them, that alot of people enjoy im one of them! check my profile for my chips..

@kryptynite76 Well I can't tell you how to use this program in particular, but I CAN tell you how to make chiptunes using MilkyTracker (I might have a tutorial coming out for that someday. READ: MIGHT), but what I'd recommend doing is downloading a tracker (I'd say Milky or MODplug is your best bet).
There is a good tutorial to get you started in MODplug on their website (modplugDOTcom/modplug/tutorial/alltrax/step0DOThtml)
as for Milkytracker (what I use) I'd say watch some tutorials.

Renoise and FL studio are the ones I know. But then, every other software that accepts VST-instruments can use it.

I've tried this program. Renoise is an awesome tracking-software. Unfortunatly, I suck.. Bigtime..

The song is using Renoise that has 6 channels alocated for the entire song, and each sound is an YMVST that imitates the YM sound.
@malakov5 It doesn't matter what tracker you use, I'm still trying to decide what to use myself (it's probably going to be more than one tracker depending on what kind of music I want to make), I'd recommend downloading the trackers you're considering, and just see which one works out best for you.
You can control plug-ins using MIDI CC, and you can use the effects column (by the way, you can add more than one) for modulation. You can use curve automation for each pattern, too - that's what I prefer...
Check out websites like scenemusic dot net, scene dot org, pouet dot net, remix dot kwed dot org, etcetera.

Have you ever considered releasing the .rns/.xrns file you used? I never figured out how to get decent sounds out of ymVST. :(
Never heard of Digital Performer but if it's a VST host, I'm pretty sure it works. I mean, why shouldn't it? Just try!
