Yeah my 1987 Jeep Cherokee that I bought back in 2003 when I graduated it drove like a tank because I left it at 3in still driving to this day I paid $300 for it cuz the transfer case but I sent to repair that and it's still working good sounds has a 4.0 l it doesn't get use as much but I try to use it when I can it has a 2 wheel drive 4 wheel drive 4 wheel drive low and all-wheel drive system select all-wheel drive something some for the rear rear transfer case I put in from like 87 to like 92
Definitely. I went into thinking if it didn't run or wasn't worth fixing I could part it for the Spooky Jeep. But so far it's a runner. Thanks for watching...
I love those jeeps but the AWD transfercases in them are absolute garbage. the 318 magnum is a beast at chuggin gas but last forever. I recommend if your gunna get one go with the 1993-96 4x4 versions with the 46RH transmissions. or if you have the extra gas money the 98 5.9l v8 with the 46RE would be the best choice if you plan on using it for towing or offroading. the 242 i6 is an insanely reliable engine but they are horrable for towing especially for the 93 years. however the i6 can come with an ax15 5 speed manual which is still used in jeeps today and is a very strong transmission. just make sure you leave the pennistar garbage in the garbage and stay away from the AWD NP249s.
Just bought a 97 zj for 900 dollars needs a little love some suspension parts and needs a headliner lol but I dig it just subbed to the channel what are your thoughts on the 2wd zj' s
Do you know how the 5.2 is in the 1998 zj I just bought a 1999 wj with 4.7 and now my wife wants a jeep found one with 5.2 I think it is by the way nice video and new follower
Quick question please: is there any problem with these jeeps ? I've been told that the automatic gear model has issues in the gear itself and also the belt of the engine.
From my experience there is nothing wrong with the transmissions its the awd models they are dogshit and cant carry their weight especially with a load of more than 5000lbs regardless of what engine is in it. 93-96 5.2 4x4 is what i would reccomend they come with a very strong 46RH transmission and if you get a 4x4 model the NP242 transfercases hold their weight well. if your looking for an i6 model 93-94 had a Ax15 manual transmission in them which is a very strong transmission still used in jeeps today and is what alot of people use for their more than 400hp crawler and offroad builds. from 93-98 you could get the i6 with a 42RE transmission which aint the strongest transmission but with the i6 your biggest problem would be the engine bogging down from the weight your towing.
another thing to note is the rocker pannels are very well known for rusting aswell as the bottom of the rear hatch. there is also a well known issue for a coolant sensor going out and a very easy to fix sloppy steering wheel. besides that they are amazing vehicles
check the door hinge welds, they go out often in ZJ's...
Thanks. I think this one has that problem on the driver's side door...

The door pins on the hinges need to be replaced you can get them at the auto parts i know cause I had a 97 myself.
you could have went to carvel - great find - hawthorne area here
Nice. Yiu are real local. We should start a posse...
For 500.00 I'd buy it as a non-runner. It runs and drives; that alone is win. 500.00 for a 25yo 4.0 ZJ, you hit the jackpot.

A running 4.0 for $500?? You stole it. Fun to play with and put a little cash in and you have a solid ride.
The problem is when you have a few of them. A couple dollars here and there turns into thousands... lol 😆
three eights, half inch, whatever it takes!!!
Basically

Yeah. I like to take my one Jeep offroad so I prefer the 4.0. In my experience, they fair better on the trail than the v8.

I don't fully understand your question but those issues I have not had. Not that I haven't had many many others...

The pcm's fail all the time. The crank sensor if not of oem quality will fail and cause no starts.
