Next in my series for the 60th, Dominic Glynn's short-lived but one of my personal favourite renditions of the Doctor Who theme, created for Colin Baker's final series - The Trial of a Time Lord.
There’s a bit of a story with this version. Glynn had already begun work on providing the soundtrack when he was asked to create a new version of the theme. But he was a little short pressed for time, which resulted in a later mix including a few more additions most notably the grace notes in the bass. He would rework it again for the DVD releases in 2008, adding some rhythmic elements and the bass getting a new treatment, incorporating a sample of Delia Derbyshire’s original. To bring it all together, I’ve included some of these elements and including a little segment of the opening of that infamous season. Apart from one or two samples, this is completely remade from the ground up. Enjoy!

>Hi, can I get uuuuuuuuuhhhh a crunchwrap supreme meal box
>Sir, this is the Gallifreyan high court
>You do know that you are here for literally wiping out the entire Lakertyan Race.
…
>Daleks, Sontarans, Cybermen, they're still in the nursery compared to us! Ten million years of absolute power, that's what it takes to be really corrupt!
>Sir, this is a Taco Bell.
That Taco Bell Sound At Beginning
Lol
"The Food Court In Space" 😮
You can thank the Yamaha DX7 being bloody everywhere in the 80s for that lol
The Doctor: i can't resist, i have to go to rassilon's toilet before its to late😢.
"The trial of a time lord"
lololloollooll
Taco Bell jumpscare
I always love when the "outside the spaceship" part of the Trial of a Timelord theme is included with this. And add the drums and trumpets from the 1996 theme before that, and it seems to work even better!
taco bell
Colin getting the love he deserves
Very beautiful mix
I loved the theme from ToTTL, like the intro you did on this with the score from the court station.
Once again, bringing a sinister edge to these reimaginings of the televised themes! I reckon this is going to be quite the series!
Love the sound of that Cloister Bell.
Wonderful mix, I particularly like how you've emphasised the last note of the main melody spiking upwards at 0:53, just like how the Big Finish mixes did. I've always loved that little standout detail of this theme
jesus every single one of ur arrangements and mixes are so different and amazing what the hell
Great use of the Taco Bell sound
tbh I was joking, apparently the tolling at the beginning happened to sound similar due to being a Yamaha DX7 preset.
If Taco Bell was popular in the 80s and the bbc decided to have doctor who cups in every nation that doctor who was popular in and this should have happen for the z40 anniversary
Simply beautiful, no words can express my love for this masterpiece.
this reminded me that the taco bell "BONG!" is from a synthesizer pack from the early 80's and that's very funny to me
The tubular bells one octave down can change he everything… it will seem very familiar!
Absolutely fantastic. Well done buddy. ❤❤
Why is everyone saying taco bell? It's a wonderful theme, Colin gettin on in that picture.
'Distinguished' is the word!!!
Come On Mister Smith 1963, We Hear Taco Bell Sound At Beginning Until Doctor Who Theme Begins!
Just Search Taco Bell Logo, You Kinda See, There's The Origin Of The Beginning From Glynn 1986.
WHAT!!?!?!??!???!? this doesn't make sense...
Nu-Who needs this sort of wierdness back in the theme.
God I love this piece of music and you nailed it
Amazing
That's an... interesting sample to use at the start 😭
Crunchwrap Supreme Dalek
the bell at the beginning sounds like the meme sfx

I'm not sure, so I'm just going to ask. Are these recreations free to use with credit to you? There isn't any terms of usage in the description so I'm asking for clarification.
Yes sorry! Knew I'd forgotten to add something
I also have one other question. When you said you were going to recreate all tv themes, does that also include the ones you have already done Like the 2005 and 2010 themes?
That sounds like a whichy version of the trial theme mixed with the glynn theme too to be much like a remix fiona horne would do with her current band seawitch and because of this ill nick name it a Seawitch Remix.
"The Taco Bell is coming" 👹
Taco uh oh
Dude, where do you get these samples from? They're so fucking good!
Apart from I think 3, this is all remade from the ground up!
@@Dalekium damn. I was hoping you'd have some sort of info. Oh well.
Thanks for responding though.
Feels like no matter where I go, people refuse to direct others to place where they can find the samples, yet they themselves have them. I get that sharing them is sort of dubious, but for God's sake...
@@derpymcderpster5526 we usually isolate our own or recreate them from scratch
@@derpymcderpster5526They really aren’t samples, I can say that a lot of the patches are from the Yamaha DX7 though
It’s kinda sad we didn’t get to see Colin wear his iconic Rainbow jacket in Episode 3 of tales of the tardis I'm aware that Colin wasn’t a huge fan of his Rainbow explosion outfit but it would’ve been cool to see him wear it one last time for nostalgia .
He hates it
I think this sounds way more spacious and less cheesy than the original. Glynn's rendition is probably my least favourite but you've made it 10x better. Well done dude. What gear do you use?
Seeing as your name is Peter Miles, and there was a Pm in Doctor who. Surely this should be called the "Nyder cut" lol
BTW this is awesome!
