Old Photos of Lincoln Collection (2)

I'm afraid I ran out of new time shift videos to upload, so I had to put this collection of old photos together instead. I hope there aren't too many duplicates with the collection I uploaded last week.Thanks again to everyone who helped me source these, and who supplied background information on them. Some I've found myself just trawling around the internet. But most come from local history groups on Facebook, that are a wonderful resource for things like this. As with before, I've tried to put together a varied collection of old photos from around Lincoln. Many are of the High Street and city centre, but others are from residential areas further out. Some are over a century old, whereas others are much more recent. Mind you, for me the 1970 and 80s are "recent"!

Thanks, my memories of Lincoln go back to the mid 1960s, I was born in '57 and love looking back at these too

So surreal to go back and see the Lincoln of my childhood, I remember Saxone shoe shop, and I remembered when they pedestrianised the high street, and I thought how wonderful it would be to have it myself to roller skate up and down. Looking at these photos is almost like having one of those spooky time slip moments

Had our our wedding after party in the Wheatsheaf in 1991 :D Kinda gutted they tore that all down :(
Ironically I remarried in 2006 and our wedding reception was in the Lincolnshire Oak in Sleaford, they tore that down a few years ago as well - unreal, it was a lovely place.
No more marriages, or they might tear down another hotel/pub facility :D

I remember that little draw bridge @1:59 - was still there in the early 90s , used to use it as a cut through to miss the traffic to get into the top of Carholme Road :D
Awesome seeing the extra buildings on the Horse Racing track .....never knew that even existed , ever.

Fantastic thank you - my father and Aunts and uncles are taken back in time seeing these - it strikes me how, like older folks , we walk past some of these heritage buildings without giving them due respect for how long they have stood there in Lincoln - thank you for your work editing - the speed of the slide show is just right
