Can't believe how many videos I have gone through where the install raw wood directly on the metal. Finally a guy doing it right.
A fella gets lucky every once in a while LOL.Tthanks for watching!
Looks like piano quality to me. :-)
Thanks for the video.
You bet!
Love the idea of useing plywood strips over furing strips, will definitely use this method," iam going to screw em up alright "lmao
Yeah it really works well, straight and no split, I always have a ton of scraps laying around too!
Amazing video! I can’t wait to do this to my trailer. Thanks for sharing
Thanks! It's a fun project!
Nice job! Looks heavy you’ll need a Dodge Cummins to pull it.
Where can you purchase the wood product for the ceiling? The local Lowe’s sales a similar product buts it’s only 32” height
I got it at home depot. www.homedepot.com/p/5-16-in-x-3-11-16-in-x-8-ft-Reversible-Knotty-Pine-Edge-V-Groove-Beaded-Planking-3-Packages-per-Box-8203109/308891410
I filled my outside vents with spray foam and then painted them black.
I wound up putting them back over the hole but when I took this out the ac was sucking the door shut so hard I drilled them back out!
I can see the ceiling loosening up. Don’t you think glue added would have been a good choice?
Ok I see after I posted you do use glue😅.lol
Glue with a little flex to it is a good idea too I think. Also the ceiling trim around the perimeter keeps it locked in pretty good.
What is that tongue and groove product you used on the ceiling? Looks fantastic.
It’s bead board about 1/4” thick. I bought it at Home Depot
@@buildlifeoverland can you elaborate more? I looked on Home Depot’s website and could find it. Do you know roughly how much the material weighs? Trying to keep my trailer weight down. (Single axle 7x12) thanks and like your videos
So you installed insulation then ran the plywood strips over roof braces for a nailing piont
yes. Gives a nice space to run wires too.
@@buildlifeoverland thank you for the response. What did you use 1/4?
@@sxsoffroad43 The strips are 3/4 (better hold for nails and wont sag) the bead board is like 5/16" tongue and groove from Home Depot.
I’m confused on your first comment on having a small air gap between your ceiling and insulation and later mentioning ‘rule of thumb’, to vent air space or fill it? Where did I misunderstand? Thanks.
Gets a little tricky and and some would debate but It is a space between the trailer roof and the insulation you need to vent or fill. The space below the insulation is within the controlled envelope if that makes sense.
Thanks for taking a minute for my q! Appreciate the feedback…stay well.
