I do this for Hosipce of Marion County, the Activity aprons as we call them (Fidget Quilts) are distributed to our patients and the local nursing homes with dementia and alzheimers patients, I have been doing this for 6 years. It is very rewarding. thank you for doing this. I made one for my daughter in law's grandmother, she played with it every day for several years until she passed away.

Great job. Anyone who thinks some worst then themselves is also great. We have a group who makes prayer quilts, for people who are sick. Keep up the good work.

I just love this idea. It's a great way to use left over scraps of fabric and little bits that you have hanging around your home.

I made one and gave it to NEWCare nursing facility in Crivitz, WI for the Alzheimers ward. It made me feel good to do it but now they want me to make a bunch more, but I can't afford the supplies. So I hope maybe someone else will donate some more to them at NEWCare.

Have you looked at your local thrift stores? I get almost all my fabrics from the household and craft areas, and I often find sheets that make great backing and binding material. I know I'm lucky to have a few dollars after bills to make things, and the thrifts can make a lot of things more possible.

Please make sure that the items you put on are safe. Residents with Alzheimer’s or Dementia can be very adept at taking things off or apart. It never ceases to amaze. They are lovely! It’s eonderfy of you!

My mother has Dementia/Alzheimers and I want to make her one. Where do you find your embellishments?

when people find out you are making them they start donating items to you. If it is for your mom use some of her things, pieces of jewelry, buttons, pictures. Thrift shops are great places to look for embellishments

when people find out I make these they want to know how. It is hard to describe, While working on them ideas come into my mind. use children's coloring books for appliques puppies, elephants, balls. check with local Nursing homes for places to donate. The important thing is to anchor everything down tight. buttons, zippers, velcro items on. fun and pleasure at the same time knowing someone will enjoy the pad, apron or what ever you call the item you make No rules, just love. Our hospice was a shelter for a hurricane last year and nurse happened to have one with her and there was a very anxious person in the shelter she gave it to him and it calmed him right down. Enjoy hope you get your project under way.
