You always make me smile, when I'm watching another video from you ♥ I hope strange people, who are clicking on the "thumbs down" button under your videos don't let you both ever feel discouraged. ♥ (WHY do they actually watch your videos and WHY don't they just click on another, if they don't like it xD)
Thanks so much Steffi. As I understand it, however folks click (positive or negative) it's a good thing in the UA-cam algorithm because there was a reaction.
Oh really? 😅 This is a very funny fact to know. 😂 Don't let this information get through to these folks 😋 The great mysteries and complexity of UA-cam algorithm are unfathomable 😂
Yeah, we agree, it's not an easy part of grammar. It took us a while to write this one, Peter and we really appreciate your comment. Thanks so much for writing.
Thank you so much for your video! I'd like to ask for some advice about the following: Have you installed the necessary programs to make/let/allow your new laptop operate? What had I better say? Are all options correct? Thanks a lot in advance!
Hi Marco. This is Jay writing back to you. All three of those choices work, but I would say, "Have you installed the necessary programs to allow your new laptop to operator properly." So 'programmes' is perfectly OK in British English, but 'programs' is American English :-) And the preposition 'to' before 'operate' is necessary, and i added the adverb 'properly' to further explain what I was asking. Take good care and thanks for watching our videos.
Don't MAKE Jay walk down those stairs again, he might HAVE to Exercise. now you maybe wondering why was I not here in the comments for a long time. I was vary busy to do other stuff so I didn't have time to Comment in your videos. Also 5:23 That's Me. What a great Lesson Vicki.
Well that's an interesting idea Maria Luisa. To think on, to think about, to think of... I hadn't thought about the different prepositions for that. I'll add it to our list and think about it. Thank you.
Here are these causative verbs in the present tense, past tense, and past participle in American English: Present Tense: make, let, have, get; Past Tense: made, let, had, got; Past Participle: made, let, had, gotten
Tks for the video, may I ask a question? If someone is the cause of my accident is It the same to say "he made me fall down the stairs" and "he caused me to fall down the stairs"?. Tks in advance
Bijayarashmi, I would have said. "I had the mechanic fix my car." So notice the article in front of the noun 'mechanic' and the tense change (fix not fixed).
Strictly speaking, only "I have the dog walker take Carter out..." is grammatically correct, but from a natural speech point of view it probably should read something like "I have the dog walker take Carter out three times a day."
