I think baeloth and noble heritage would make for an interesting boros 1/1 counters build for the channel (and its even a boros deck you havent played on the channel yet because its newer than boros month!) since he ramps you and goads your opponents creatures passively while heritage give you counters and protects you from each player that tries to race his power with the heritage counters.
It is surprisingly annoying. Like most players have 1 good blocker... but they dont often have more than 1 one good blocker, so you are either getting in or forcing them to trade something they dont want to. Tap downs are also interesting because they potentially leave that player vulnerable to other players based on turn order. And also throwing a few +1/+1 counters on a creature that cares about attacking is also better than expected. Its not gonna compete with a sword of x and y, but for so little mana and a 25 cent card it can really do a lot....to the point where I've had people shoot it.
@@CommanderReplay Oh word! I hear what you're saying. I've been on the fence about including it and your analysis is insightful. I can see it shining in my OG Aurelia equipment deck or maybe even Adeline. THANKS!
at ~ 7:17, i wasnt upset about the counterbalance removal, i knew i wanted to swing for card draw, and i wanted to incentivize you to hit asgard to take the initiative token because i didnt want to get hit by mauler since i'd be open at that point.
Part of me wants to eventually build a deck that has Taurean Mauler, Sunscorch Regent, Managorger Hydra, Forgotten Ancient, and Ishai all together in the same deck.
Any deck of mine that has any parts of Abzan in it in my custom formats ascend quite into the heavens against opponents of mine due to the outlast creatures that give keywords.
Cards like Torment rub me the wrong way. It's definitely a case of I want you to win the moment you activate it or the next turn or I will hate the usage of it. Defensive uses are fine but you better be stopping a snowball effect or something. Even so, blegh. At least run a card you can meme lol
Yeah its not my favorite either. Particularly in the setting we were playing. Im playing a fun deck of cards i dont usually get to use, and not running my usual tricks like feast and famine and aggravated assault, etc. The feeling I was left with after the game was "how is this still even a discussion at this point. We've all played the format long enough to have an idea what is heinously OP and what isnt.
It's one of those cards that I've been pulling out of decks because it's so generically boring. Cards like Torment, Craterhoof, Cyclonic Rift. There's so many more interesting ways to win the game nowadays.
I feel if you do Torment of Hailfire, you need to have the game in the bag and victory assured. Same thing with cards like Cyclonic Rift. I am all for a defensive use of a card like Exterminatus but Torment just...rubs me the wrong way. Like a Simic player playing the same damn Simic deck over and over
15:43 The Bribery shuffled your library
That would do it.

The reason your scry got "messed up" is you were targeted by Bribery, which made you shuffle.
We didn't get to see it in action, but you mentioned you LOVE the Greatsword of Tyr. I've been curious about running it...what do you love about it??

That makes sense. Big Mauler is a fun game of russian roulette.

O yeah it will be fun. Just add some trample and shake well before serving.
Thanks to your videos I have 6 boros deck. It's time to buy the seventh 😂
Excellent. Keep going! Im on 11 currently :)

Yeah they are nice, ive got a few of those in here i think.
I got *wrecked* by the wheel this game 😂
Always feels bad when that happens.
@@CommanderReplayope, I was remembering a different game :P this was the bad threat assessment game 😅

torment of hailfire was such a lame move
I was not impressed. Im thinking about doing a video on this in the future.

Leave it to mono black to run the most generically lame anti-creature strategy that just prays tutor + Torment wins them the game 🤡
