One of his great unsung performances was in Gardens of Stone. Incredible performance.
Not sure why this keeps getting left out of his life story, but...
He didn't just dream of being an Army officer, he became one. He was conscripted into the US Army shortly after the Korea Conflict wound down. He attended and completed Ranger School. He attained the rank of 1st Lt before his discharge.
Thank you, Sir, for your service and for decades of iconic and inspiring performances. You will be missed, but never forgotten.

James Earl Jones has a voice that will never be duplicated and never replicated.
It literally already got replicated with AI in Obi-Wan Kenobi before he died.
@@YodatheHobbitTo be fair, he did approve of it.
When he was a spokesperson for Verizon he came into my sisters call center who worked at Verizon. He sat at a desk and started taking calls. He said thank you for calling Verizon this is James Earl Jones how can I help you. I think most if not all hung up on him. He not only a great voice, but a sense of humor.

A Regal Black King with a Voice that commands Presence. Rest in Power, Sir.
As Idris Elba said, he doesn’t want to be known as a great black actor. Just as a great actor. Nobody cares that he was black
@@Pyramanagera black man ( OP), is allowed to admire and point out that James was a black actor. Get over yourself. His comment literally had nothing to do with you.
@Bladestar7 Absolute Truth.
He was a great mixed actor. That's what made his voice so distinctive.

The voice of Don Lafontaine won’t be forgotten as well. He was the voice of my childhood as he did all of the movie trailers in the 90s and early 2000s. May he, James Earl Jones, and all the other voice greats rest in peace.

Hell ya, considering he’s was a diabetic.
Probably only about 10% will make it to 93. But with the way things are going, I do not want to make it past 65 years of age. I am 53 years of age now.
I will! ❤

Mr. Jones said perfectly when saying "death is okay, it happens to all of us"! I have always felt that way too. Yes, his living presence will absolutely be missed but we were the lucky ones to be able to share the air with him. I'm very grateful he left a huge positive impression on me! God's Speed Mr. Jones in your next journey! 🙏
Rest in power Mr. Jones. Your legacy will live on for generations to come
He lived a long, fulfilled life, giving us so many iconic characters, Vader, Thulsa Doom, King Joffey Joffar, Mufasa etc... Rest in Power
Had the pleasure of meeting him once when he was asked to do the stage voiceover for a monologue written by one of the students in my 6th grade English class at the Bardavon theater (in Poughkeepsie, NY). The whole class met him for our planned stage performance showcasing various poems/monologues written by individual students in our class. The one he was asked to do was about a boy's tough relationship with his dad. He took on this role with sincere interest and compassion. I found him to be a down to earth and gracious man with the signature voice he's known for.
RIP to the accomplished and legendary actor with the iconic voice🙏🏾🕊️. He needs no introduction 🌄.
"Claudine" was the first movie where I was introduced to "James Earl Jones"..... Great Actor!!

I met Mr. Jones in 1972, he came into Chase Manhattan Bank where I was a bank teller. He was such a charming Gentlemen, smiling, and greeting me, I recognized him right away I think it was his voice❤
I saw him on Broadway in Fences. And I considered it a very special opportunity to see him on the stage in person. A giant. RIP
Me,too.
Wish I could have seen that.
Yessss. Fences with Mary Alice! I remember my mom and step-dad going to see that on Broadway! They said his performance was A1!

Oh God. I loved him so much, as I know millions did. Even if you couldn't see him, that voice is undeniable. ❤
James Earl Jones' booming voice and captivating presence, on tv and movie screens, made him a household name and, I dare say, an American national treasure...Before him, I had never seen a black man with blue eyes...His booming barritone voice

There are only two places one can go after physical death...eternal rest or eternal torment. Faith in Christ is the way to life. Rejection of Christ leads to the other.

The journalist said he was a black actor, no he was a great actor with body and voice, he will never be forgotten. I really am heart broken and my prayers are with his family 🙏💯
Exactly. We we all sat down in front of the flickering screen to watch _Star Wars_ on a 1977 summer afternoon, we didn't hear a black voice. We heard a voice that rumbled with the anger of gods that scared the living daylights out of us. We witnessed the birth of a legend, and heard the very sound of our generation being gifted to us.
Omg, my heart just dropped. He will never be forgotten ❤❤❤
No one can replicate his deep profound and impactful style.
