  • The Inspirations, Watermelon Man (PKC Records). Band member Steve Fuchs states that both sides of this excellent 45 were recorded in a Milwaukee basement in the late 1960s. Only 100 copies were pressed for family and friends (copies were given away and not sold as there were concerns about royalties that might need to be paid to Herbie Hancock, and Clarence Carter, composer of the flip, Tell Daddy). Because of this, the 45 received no radio airplay at all! The Inspirations comprised John Draws (vocals on Tell Daddy), Steve Fuchs (Tenor Sax ), Tom Bloom (Lead Guitar), Bill Tracinski (Bass ), Dale Streeter (Drums), Ron Skaluta (Organ), David Zilka (Trumpet) and possibly Dean Hottinger (Alto sax).
Thanks to Steve Fuchs for the information.

Stoked for my Dad to find you online, Loma Russ! Thank you for taking the time to record and post this side of the 45. Here's your link to the other side, "Tell Daddy", for those that want to listen. Cheers! ua-cam.com/video/HnSraPZiyLE/v-deo.html

Very much my pleasure to post this up for your Dad. I'm thrilled to have learned about the group as prior to now nothing was known about The Inspirations at all. There is now a story and names of band members available for the public record, which is how it should be!
