    Let me start, by saying I love your tutorials. You are concise, knowledgeable, and skilled. After fooling around, modifying my likes and dislikes of the pattern; I returned to the original pattern with a small modification. Above the completed fan instead of chain 5's, I condensed them to ch 3 so they would lay flat around the fan. Subsequently, ch 3's above them took away the bulk. That is entirely a personal preference. Thank you for a beautiful shawl tutorial and extent my Thank you to Ms Quatro for her hard work creating a beautiful shawl.

    Excellent tutorial. Good lighting, calm voice, good pace, clear explanations, good camera work, contrast in colors between yarn and background.

    I finished this piece yesterday and LOVE how it turned out! You were so easy to follow. I am completely into making more of your tutorials. I recommend anyone to follow along. The final product is amazing! I used Caron Big Cakes, Blueberry Scone. It took a whole Cake plus a few yards from a second Cake. I made 12 repeats in total. Big enough to tie if you want. Very beachy looking stripes. Thanks to you and Renatta for this great project.

    This pattern is very intuitive and you'll be on your own in no time especially if you've worn your fingers down to nubs doing the virus pattern over and over as I have. Great tutorial!

    Tis is the most ingenious pattern!! It is a hybrid of the Virus, the Trellis and Fan and probably others. I was afraid I was getting lost and then the repeat suddenly came into focus. It's wonderful. I'm using Loops & Thread Chameleon in the Kiwi colorway. Chameleon is slightly fluffy but it's still a worsted weight so the I/9 hook is working beautifully. Thank you for working out this tutorial. You remain the most amazing Guru on UA-cam!! Love you!

    i just started doing this shawl and you keep saying about no getting confused with the stitches i found out the hard way also i had to frog back from the last repeat row all the way back to row 6 and start over lol so i thought hey why not use stitch markers so we dont get confused and it worked so if anyone doing this shawl if you use a stitch marker,a piece of scrap yarn, or anything and you put it on the first of the 10 dc,and the last of the dc you wont get confused
    love your work and thank you so so much for doing these tutorials *hugs*

I really appreciate how you film close ups on your stitches . It makes learning so much easier. Keep doing a great job I cant wait to see what you come up with next.

    Thank you so much Fiber Spider, you are Amaze balls. erm yarn balls that is, I followed you as you worked this sample, an kept pausing to make sure my stitch count was right, especially those tricky bits that look like stitches got caught out on Virus with those. anyway have completed it up to end of sample an will be carrying on, using a soft beige yarn found in me stash, so eager to start it. ha ha. have locked pattern into memory muscle, love it. many thanks from NorthWest England U.K.

    Ok. I'm a little late. Sorry FiberSpider! I wanted to ask you: is it okay to start off each row of this pattern with a chain of 4 and then straight into the cluster with 2dc, ch-2, 2dc? I really hate slip stitching. Also, one more question--does the pattern ABSOLUTELY have to have fans that have 2 rows of dcs instead of a row of dc, then a row of dc, ch1, and the third row dc, ch 2? I was just wondering. I think your tutorials are inspirational. But, as I always tell my granddaughter, I have yet to meet a pattern that I can't modify! Hoping you have happy stitching for many years to come. Thank you.

    • @MicksMom365
      @MicksMom365 3 роки тому

      Part of the the beauty of this pattern is that it's self-edging - a great time saver. If you skip those stitches on both ends, you'll have to do the extra work later or lose the beautiful edging. Dropping dc rows, you will change the entire count of the pattern, it will be smaller and changes the design so much - well it wouldn't be the Lakeside Shawl. Write down what you do and name it something else - your own design.

    I made every attempt to do this shawl but every time I tried I ended up getting to a certain point right around six or eight repeat. there were too many variables in the pattern. It just seem like skip this here but don’t skip it there and back up here but go back up there and do two not three and skip this one but not that one and it was just too confusing.
    I’ll try as I may I’m gonna throw in the towel on this one. I think you tried your best with it but I think it was more the pattern that just wasn’t quite right especially in the repeat area. It didn’t make any sense to me.
