There's multiple ways you can relate to people while still being effective. Wayne Gretzky dominated the entire NHL and everyone liked him so much they didn't even want to hit him. Bill Russell told Wilt Chamberlain "I'm the only one who knows how good you are" while beating him over and over in the playoffs and Wilt loved Russell and said Russell was a better leader than he was. Larry Bird literally hit a jumper in a guy's face then made the guy give him a high-five over how great the shot was.
KG won one ring and has a bunch of people that hate him. Isiah Thomas won two and got himself kicked off the Dream Team for being a douche and is still unhappy to this day. So you can see that the guys who handled people better didn't miss out on any winning and actually won much more.

I like that Noah. You understand the bigger picture of competition.
So many times when athletes meet their idols they are shocked when they aren't super nice to them and most of the time they meet their idols it's in the middle of a competition in which you're trying to fuck the other guys job up so no matter how much of an idle someone might be to you when you meet them on the field they don't know you all they know is you're there to mess up their job. Noah I learned a valuable lesson that day. And if you listen to that Kevin Garnett interview he truly understands there is a certain time and day for meet and greet that wasn't it.

I live in Gainesville where Noah went to college and at that time my little sisters basketball team was able to go in the Gator lockeroom after the game and I was like 14 or 15 and my sisters team was getting autographs and Noah was drawing smiley faces with ponytails on the autographs because that's what he wore.I was in the group of kids,it kinda got to me and he asked if I wanted his autograph and I said "nah" trying to be too cool and fresh to get his autograph amongst the kids, I was a fan but I always liked Tauren Green and Corey Brewer more from that team then.He went on to have a amazing NBA career even winning a Defensive Player of the Year. I hate that I didn't get his autograph because he grew to be one of my favorite players ever. But atleast I got that memory with him lol
