Elton is very adorable (and sexy)! And he is so serious and passionate about his music, and the talent is so natural and far from forced. It is so damn obvious why this man is as famous as he is, and also why he is so loved by his family and friends, whom he has hundreds of! I wasn't a big John Lennon/Beatles fan, but I remember watching Monday Night Football when they interrupted it to say John Lennon was shot! My first thought was . . . "Why would someone do that?" My next thought, I don't remember --- but I just had such an overwhelming feeling of sadness that as a 17 year-old black boy I had never felt in my young life! It was at that point I realized . . . the world can be a F'd up place! Innocence lost on that 12/08/80 day! Still sad thinking about it! But glad I can!

The best ones always make it look so easy. I feel like Elton could have been rocked on coke and booze out of his mind and still slayed the audience. He knows his instrument so well, and he knows his voice and it's limits. True genius of a musician.
Ryan Merritt Well when people are coked up or intoxicated they follow basic instincts. Here’s a perfect example. Bob Dylan is currently an alcoholic, and he goes on stage staggering drunk. Yet he can still perform. He said when you’ve played those songs as long as he has, it sticks with him, and when he sees the audience he knows what to do. Only difference is Elton can still deliver an amazing performance drugged up.
This video is beautiful yet haunting at the same time. "He only lives just over the road". John would be murdered at the very place less than 3 months later.

The great John Lennon was assassinated on December 8,1980, just 3 months after this concert. I remember it well, I took my first girlfriend out to dinner for her birthday. It was a very sad day indeed...

I'm sure I'll get a lot of negativity from this...but Reg does this song a lot better than JL...sorry but my opinion, his piano gives it more strength, his voice is more powerful and defined and the band just makes it. JL sounds like he's faded away in the song after listening to Elton.

I wasn't a big John Lennon/Beatles fan, but I remember watching Monday Night Football when they interrupted it to say John Lennon was shot!
My first thought was . . . "Why would someone do that?"
My next thought, I don't remember --- but I just had such an overwhelming feeling of sadness that as a 17 year-old black boy I had never felt in my young life! It was at that point I realized . . . the world can be a F'd up place! Innocence lost on that 12/08/80 day! Still sad thinking about it! But glad I can!

I was there! It was wonderful.
I miss those times!😢 I’m so glad we have memories through recordings and videos. Elton is/was SO great! He was also so incredibly handsome. My favorite outfit of all he’s had was the piano suit from this concert. Only Elton could pull off making a funny remark in that song! Thank you Elton, Bernie, John Lennon, & the band! We love you. I have heard that Elton is one of a rare breed of celebrity! He can care about anybody without any prejudice! He became very good friends with a great conservative talk show host, while they happened to be in drug re-hab, at the same time! Elton does not draw lines in the sand! He was booed by alot of the gay community, and alot of liberals! Elton John is a true liberal! Liberal enough to do as he damned well pleases! I respect Sir Elton John as a great man!
