- This remastered version of The Day the Earth Froze (1964) is the American cut and dubbed version of the film originally produced as Sampo (1959), which was a Russian-Finnish coproduction. Sampo (1959) was shot in 1.33:1 and 2.35:1 versions simultaneously, and it is the “flat” version that was used for distribution in the US and Germany. This remastered edition was created by using the sound from a 16mm US print and editing a German-language print to match the changes made for the US release.
This version of the film was the one that was further cut and spoofed on Mystery Science Theater 3000 (MST3K) in 1992. - Розваги
I absolutely loved this movie. It was an excursion into a different time and culture.
Very well done.
An enchanting film even with the watermarks.
Is there a way to watch this without the watermarks?
Not without me being paid for my work to assemble this master.
@@ChuckPenn3 understandable. Is there any way you can do that? I guess it would depend on rights issues in the US and if it’s public domain or not.
Could you please upload full English dubbed versions of the Kingdom of Crooked Mirrors and The Magic Weaver next?
I can’t. They are under copyright.
@@ChuckPenn3 Even if you had it watermarked like this movie?
A cult classic among cult classics.
Favorite film, no matter if it is w/ this title, or Sampo. Just incredible all the way around! "Thank you" for posting, and "Happy Holidays"/"Happy Wintertide".
Greg Sebellious!! jk-- :) Aleksandr Ptushko!! Beautiful movie with great score
Female main character Annikki is played by an Estonian actress Eve Kivi, 19 years old back then. Lemminkainen is played by Latvian actor Andris Ošiņš.
Just bought the Blue ray. It is without the American censorship and influence. Epic.
The Deaf Crocodile Blu is also an alternate Finnish version with different takes, screen format, and shots. The American cut and dub was based on the flat (non-widescreen) Russian version.
certified hood classic
it wasn't "Russian Finish", it was completely Soviet Film
It was a co-production, which is why it was shot in multiple aspect ratios and languages simultaneously.
@@ChuckPenn3 no "co-productions". The movie is the Masterpiece of SOVIET Cinema, directed by Maestro Soviet film maker A. Ptushko, and with Estonian actress Eve Kivi. No finlands anywhere NEAR. and Estonia was one of 15 Soviet Republics
no "multiple languages" either🤦. Only Russian and Estonian which were Soviet languages. You in US took our socialist masterpiece and dubbed it
@luciaaa233
lol… there is no such thing as a socialist masterpiece.
The Soviet Union and its Communism/Socialism failed miserably.
Absolute failure. 😂
@@trekbridge you must be imbecile posting Soviet Socialist Masterpiece (one of thousands), worshipping it in public, while bleating that there is no such thing. Schizophrenia needs to be checked, if untreated your gonna get worse
@@luciaaa233 One of the two production companies which created the film is literally called Suomi-Filmi. I'll let you guess which country they are from.
In spite of mst3k making fun of this movie (and it was a hilarious episode), this is a very interesting story.
