This helped. I thought I could save it on my 24 ZX6r on the throttle but there was so much rubber left that I went for a ride and it actually was a safety issues. I cut mine the same way you did yours
I discovered the green lip thingy that sticking out one end needs to be cut off after someone mentioned it in one of the comments….maybe I need to make another vid to clearly that. But it works either way😊 happy riding mate
@@Juzzy2019 I haven’t yet started to installed them. Was looking for the best way to install them but I’m worried if they could be just a little longer than my mt 09 2023 OEM ones. Is it the green lip than you can see once you installed the throttle side grip that I should cut?
I have the exact same bike and I just got the progrips (which are also made in Italy like the dominos, and also like the dominos - are longer than oem! - even the 'simplest' of tasks is a PITA with these bikes!) and put the clutch side without too much hassle. I didn't know what to do w/ the right side because of those two 'lips' on each end of the throttle tube. You did manage to get the right grip past the outer lip but were you able to slide the grip over the inner lip on the throttle tube (like the oem grip was)? thx for this vid - super helpful!
Hey mate, I didn’t get the new grip over the inner plastic lip. There is no cut out slot like on the oem grip. What I did was just push the new grip all the way up until it reach the inner lip on the throttle tube. I think that s maybe why I got the extra bit on the outer end. I literally find out after I put on the new grip. I tried to look for a video and search the website see if anyone has done it but I couldn’t find anything related to the throttle side. So I just cut the extra bit off lol.
@@Juzzy2019 yeah that's what I figured as well - since unlike the oem which has a 'sleeve' that can go over the inner lip - these after-market ones do not. It's nuts that there isn't an exact replica of the oem in the after-market! thx and safe-riding!
Hey mate, I think it would probably works better by trimming off the thinner section where opposite of the grip open end. The plastic lip should still stop the grip from freezing up the throttle movement. From what I measured, the new grips would be perfectly fit on the handle bar after. I think it would match the length of the oem grips (120mm). I read about this from a website after putting the grips on. Didn’t try it myself, just a thought would like to share. I would probably try that next time.
All respect but if you didn't trim the first lip off your grips are on wrong. If you trim it the grip will push all the way up to the front lip and the one on the end will fit into the grip then bar ends will go on perfect without messing with throttle
Helpful video, thank you! I have a 2019 N1K with stock grips. Hey, is there some type of adhesive already on the inside of the new grip that's activated by the alcohol/WD40? If not, I'm inclined to use hairspray to ensure a solid adhesion of the new grip.
Nah there wasn’t any. I personally didn’t want to use adhesive cos in case I want to change it, just make it easier without adhesive the grip. There is someone commented not to use WD40. But …yea WD40 s what I used.
haha yes, i realised that after....i was wondering what that was and maybe can be trimmed off. I fixed the left side. And just gonna leave throttle side as it is then. thanks for the comment 👍
@chickenmaster7144 Yes trim the smaller lip completely off with a slight bevel inside so it will push flush against the ring on the front of your throttle tube it will also allow the back ring to fit inside the grip fits perfect won't mess with throttle and bar ends fit properly 😉 btw... few drop of glue once grip is on and in place pry open or roll down add glue both ends
Nah it won’t. Wd40 s what I used. It dry up pretty quickly after you slide the grip on. And make sure you cut off the extra/extended rubber bit to make the grip for the length of the bar end (if you have the same bike). I made mistake of not removing it so it end up longer on the throttle side.
@jaygill3658 ooops I throw it out….well thank you for letting me know. Too late now I guess just have to see how they go. But thank you for letting me know

@tyreezex hey mate nah I didn’t make another video for this….where you up to now?

I was confused about the inner lip on the throttle side. I just spent 20 minutes trying to get it over the lip until I saw your video. Thanks.

Just as a suggestion: If you trim the ring off on the front of the grip, would've been the correct way.... No cap your bars look uneven now at the end
