Deku going infinite one hundred percent against overhaul is one of my favorite my hero academia fights in the anime The animation as well as the music was top notch Deku's "normal consecutive punches" Were so beautiful and massive This entire arc was probably the best anime wise arc. Now i hope the war arc has a much better adaptation than my villain academia arc because this is pinnacle mha Mva/season 5 wasn't bad but it was really weak in comparison to the previous seasons in the anime

What Midoryia's character excels in, is portraying a person that despite being granted with the gift he always wanted, and the strongest power in the world, is still inwardly a scarred individual, whose confidence and safety for themselves is left tarnished as the result of his past. His innate self-sacrifical nature is one that he struggles to balance with his own safety throughout the course of the story and hits the climax of it's most damaging in the Villain Hunt Arc. And while those inner beliefs and self doubts may led to him doing what a hero should be, in prioritizing the lives of others and taking care of those around him, its those very things that end up turning on him and making his life more and more miserable as the status of the country declines with society's decreasing trust in heroes. He takes on the threat of the LoVs, the century long war with AFO, and the entire burden of OFAs legacy on his bare shoulders, not just because he is the potential last holder of the quirk and doesn't want anyone to get hurt, but he internally struggles with his self-worth as an individual where he doesn't believe he is worthy of letting his friends and family to be dragged down to the dangers he inevitably has to face. Fortunately for him, he has the help of Bakugo, Ilda, Uraraka and the rest of Class 1-A to snap him out of that harmful mindset before the final battle. I wonder how Hirokoshi will handle his character in the endgame with the issue of the overpowered Shigaraki and AfO himself.

Personally I think it goes even deeper. I love how it points out that society has become too reliant on heroes and have absolved themselves any real moral responsibility on a societal level. It’s the basis of the issues the villains have with the heroes and societies ideology. Basically the ‘bystander effect’ to an extreme. It’s actually a pretty good criticism of Japanese society especially. Over how any form of societal reform, unless it’s it’s self critical and done whole heartedly, will never be able to hide the cracks that exist behind the scenes. I love DC but they tend to focus their stories a lot more on the heroes individually rather than the bigger picture sometimes. It can get a little too fantastical. Still fun though.

To be fair, it’s kinda been established that quirks in the mha world are super random and very from god like to just straight useless, even when considering normal everyday life outside of hero work.
The Overhaul arc made my skin crawl. So many avoidable problems in that arc stemmed from Nighteye. I’m just glad Nighteye is dead, imagine how much worse off the heroes would’ve been after the war arc if Nighteye was there and involved in the strategy of taking out all the villains.
