i saw those storms from almost the most northern tip of LBI. they were ferocious. for this man to go onto the beach to warn kids about it despite the danger exemplifies his unselfishness and genuine heart. RIP sir, and God give strength to your family
Lightning is very unpredictable, scares me. That man was a wonderful caring hero, he definitely saved lives that day and accurately saw the danger approaching. Sad he died warning others; may he forever rest in heavenly peace. And may God comfort his precious family, a sudden loss like that is devastating.
The odds of getting struck by lightning in your lifetime are 1 in 15300, and only 10% of those who do die as a result. When you do the math, it’s a very small probability.
Eyes to the skies folks when out on the beach! Storms come up quickly. I ran once until I was out of breath and hid under some deck steps until a storm passed as I'd walked a long ways down the beach from where we were staying.

I stayed near this area for like a family event, we got there early and left, then we heard it on the news that this happened.
This is rare, yet still happens. Stay safe yall, really don't give thunderstorms a chance...
