I think palki actually mean why Global MNC big names like Foxconn, ford, Xiaomi and Apple are leaving India for good.
India has wishful thinking but many Western countries would rather look to other Asian countries like Vietnam or the Philippines or even latin countries like Mexico.
We always criticise buearocracy , India has never focused on Judicial system, which takes its own time to settle disputes. The one month process in West takes years, faster justice delivery is also required to attract foreign companies to establish business in India.

If foreign factories moved out of China a decade ago, it would be devastating for China. NOT so today. Foreign entities only make up 10% of China's exports as of today. In other words, Chinese companies are now the major contributor of China's exports. Take Samsung for example, it shifted its production out of China since 2016 but today, Chinese smartphone brands account for 67% of global sales.

It will be naive to even ask if India can become the next China. But it will be wise to say when will China replace US no. 1 position. The global shift from US to China have been moving rather fast in terms of economy, military, Tech,Space exploration and many more. Countries are now accepting China as their preferred partner as oppose to US. However, there are no clear encouraging signs of india taking the cue from China even in the manufacturing. On the contrary, a handful of Tech companies who bet on India after shifting from China are facing serious problems due to production workers,skills, working conditions, govt investment schemes that did not payout and many more. Just to name Apple,Foxconn,Xiaomi,BYD and others. China built a $1.3bil coal plant, only to make a loss due to payment default. All in all, India blew their chance.
Modi may have enticed 8000 companies to move to India a few years ago, but after they found out the reality 2700+ companies has quit and left. Companies started moving back to China, Vietnam. Palki, tell your audience the truth, the whole truth and not half of it. India rips off these companies and the law governing these investing companies are not there, quite troublesome.

• Too much emphasis on replacing China instead of focusing on the essential requirements for industrialisation
• Gov't interference
• Not so business friendly policies especially with taxation
• Foreign companies are not allowed to compete with local enterprises, especially those owned by Ambani and Adani
• Archaic labour laws which favour Indian workers
• Indian workers are not very productive, absenteeism is a major issue

lol, China only does very low end manufacturing. They just assemble parts with their slave labor. All the high end components are made in Japan, Germany, South Korea, Taiwan, etc... Malaysia and Singapore used to be manufacture centres of US high tech companies. I built a factory for Intel in Penang, Malaysia. Some 30 years, these US companies moved to China because of lower cost in China then. I fit out Dell Computer's first factory in Xiamen, China. Many Taiwanese companies also moved their factories to China because of lower cost.
After 30-40 years of economic growth, China had moved up the manufacturing food chain. Its labour cost is no longer competitive even after accounting for manufacturing efficiency. The labour intensive and assembly type of manufacturing industry profit margin is very low. Something like 5%. China is looking for industries and manufacturing work that provide better return and profit. India, Bangladesh, Vietnam, etc can have those low profit margin industries.
By the way, India has the unflattering nickname of "GRAVEYARD OF FOREIGN COMPANIES". Foreign companies are leaving India in droves because of poor business environment and low worker quality.

China lost 1.3b in coal plant deal that India did not pay according to reliable sources. Companies have also blacklisted India for not keeping their words on investment incentives.

India and China are only three people apart. For India to become the world's factory, it needs these three individuals.
Firstly, an Indian version of Qin Shi Huang is needed to unify India culturally and linguistically, establishing centralized authority.
Secondly, an Indian version of Mao Zedong is required to redistribute land to farmers and unleash productive forces.

They are highly corrupt. When not corrupt, they commence tax demand proceedings or penalty proceedings at the drop of a hat. Companies like Vodafone were ruined because of tax demands. Many start ups have shut shop because of bizarre tax demands.
It's not just the taxman, it's ALL bureaucracy and red tape in India! I personally know of two European IT companies that came to Pune, had a hard time with renting properly, all the silly visa stuff, the petty and endemic corruption, and in the end they packed up and left India after two years! They opened Asian offices in......Singapore instead, and haven't looked back. I know the owners, they complained to me of regular power cuts in Pune, slow internet speeds not up to par, bad roads and infrastructure, and difficulty in getting quality employees! India needs to address ALL of these issues to become an attractive destination for large scale foreign investment.

Please learn some lessons from economists. I guess, you can understand a bit of accountancy. China is a bankrupt country and you don't know yet. You know assets and liabilities in a balance sheet. China's main assets are its infrastructure and real estates. The real estate value was artificially inflated by setting up the land prices by government, not by market forces. The average house price to income ratio is 32.75. That means, a person needs to put all his 32.75 years of income to fully own a home without eating, without cloths, etc. For the US, the ratio is 4.1. For UK, the ratio is 8.3, for India, it is 11.4.
Anyway, the artificially inflated real estate is now collapsing making each households has more liabilities than asset as the mortgage loan is much higher the real value of the property they own. China is living in borrowed time and shifting this burden to the next generation.
Anyway, as a whole, the assets of the country are artificially inflated and the liabilities such as its borrowings are hidden at various form. The net asset for the country is already negative and it is a matter of time, the country will bankrupt.
Next, China builds the infrastructure on heavily borrowed money without the assessment feasibility of the infrastructures. The return on investment are negative in these projects. However, China still build these infrastructures just to inflate the GDP.

For a country to tailor its future on the needs of foreign industries an investors instead of doing long term planning for self-sufficiency is a way to loose sovereignty and economic stability. Is like growing up using clutches without doing enough physical therapy. Which is not to deny an interdependent global economy, but to realize that is necessary to draw a line of common sense autonomy. The Western Powers view of world trade an manufacturing has a very different perspective and interests than countries in Asia who are the ones that provide cheap labor to the West. I think that people in Asia deserve a better life and future than to be the cheap labor pool of the Western powers, and I have a feeling that this trend is on its way out, because people everywhere wants and deserves a better life than the one available through being the cheapest labor destination. Those are just arrangements among the elites. Finally, both China and India have enough science, technology and educated population to design a future not subservient to the needs of Western corporations; and they better, because the Western Powers are in decline and are going through a significant cultural crisis that make them unreliable partners.
