I am one of "you people" and enjoyed your video. Four years with the MX; now have a 2021 MY and love it more than the MX. At my age, there are two important features most reviews don't discuss. First is the collision avoidance warning system which has prevented my having an accident which would have been my fault. The other is the regen braking. If a car pulls out in front of you and you must brake, the regen braking is already slowing the car down before your foot moves to the brake. Although it is only a second or less, it definitely makes a big difference in the stopping distance.
Hi, I'm 67 and have been a technophile since I bought my first computer... a Commodore 64! I've always kept up with the latest and greatest, so Tesla tech hasn't been hard for me to adapt to at all. My first Tesla was a 2016 Model S... beautiful, sleek, fast, but sadly, my wife's knees couldn't tolerate how low it was, so I traded it for a 2020 model Y performance. It's been upgraded with a yolk and is soooo amazing to drive. I do need to consider keeping a AED (defibrillator) in the car though because last time I took a non-tech peer on a drive and did a test launch, I thought there was going to be a cardiac event! I love the car, and so does my wife. I bought mine used and wasn't aware there is a second understorage behind the first one in the back. When I found it, it was full of aftermarket toys the previous owner left behind... yup... I love this car!
You are hysterical. Subscribed. 50 years young here. Took delivery of the 2021 Y 3 weeks ago. Loving it. I laughed at your Prius comment as i traded in my Prius for the Y! But I might be the only standard range driver out here in Los Angels. But hey, it’s LA and I work from home ( for now) so it’s all good.
Well, I really enjoy my new 2023 model Y LR vehicle, received last week. Myself being retired at 74 years old, I have been working with computers all my life, so this car technology does not scare me. Matter of fact, I was really looking forward to my first Electric vehicle. We all know how many features the Model Y has, and I enjoy all of them. I just do my normal driving around town. I don't get on any Expressways and I do all my charging at home. I don't mind the factory suspension on the Model Y. They are redoing our streets in our neighborhood and I do feel the bumps, but they are not that bad. Of course I am not going that fast. I don't know if I will every have a need to do long trips and use public Tesla chargers. Maybe in the future. So I have no range anxiety at all right now with my daily driving. Looking to see how this vehicle does in the Northern Illinois winter with AWD (first time having this feature in any vehicle) and also how the battery does in cold weather. My Model Y is parked in a home garage. Thanks for your great videos. Take care.
I'm gonna wait for another a couple years to buy it, the battery technology could have a breakthrough in the next 5 years, and also the insurance should be lower since most of insurance companies will have a bigger data pool to analyze, and it should lower the cost.
Thank you for making a daily driving video on the Model Y. One of the biggest concerns I have with the Model Y is the glass roof. Given that you live in the Phoenix area, does the car get much hotter than a car with a metal roof when it’s been sitting for an hour or so in the sun during the summer? Also, do you ever feel like the glass does not block enough of the heat near the ceiling of the car? Does the constant exposure to the sun during scorching summer days, like 110 degrees, ever get wearing on a drive? If you could share your experiences on hot days, it would be appreciated. Thank you.
I haven't had my model s long, but that glass roof isn't an issue so far. The glass seems to be similar to sunglasses. It's very dark and I don't feel the sun at all.
We have ours when we hit a record high of 117 this summer. You can tell that it's warm above your head but in no way is it deal breaker. It's actually great glass.
The trolls are not insulting you their actually jealous of you so it’s a good idea to know the difference positive folks don’t put out that kind of negativity just saying.
I"m in my mid 50's and I keep wondering why you kids are so slow to adopt new tech! Then again I've been working in IT since the 80's so cutting edge tech is my life :) Joking around aside. we did buy a model Y a month ago and you had some good points. The Audi in the garage next to it provides a noticeably better ride quality and there are some things on the Tesla you have to take your eyes off the road to adjust with the touch screen that you can do by feel on the Audi. German cars are outstanding from a "drivers" perspective especially in terms of controls, I find the Tesla lacking in that aspect. The one foot driving took a little getting used to but it's growing on us. We picked up the Tesla as an in town commuter car and for that it's amazing and a lot of fun. On weekends we park the Tesla and grab the F150 to go play.
Hey, you are too funny! I'm 55 and use punctuation all of the time! 😂 I guess it must be the generation! I'm looking forward to becoming a tesla owner soon!
My car tries to brake check people behind me about once a week on my commute to work going over the bridge. Have to keep your foot on accelerator to avoid this. I feel like an a hole when I forget.
62 years old and just took delivery of a model Y standard range about three weeks ago. Great car. Really enjoying it! Fantastic daily driver. Even did a short (~400 miles round trip) road trip and did some supercharging. The supercharging experience is excellent. You have to plan trips a little differently but it is very do-able and enjoyable. Great videos, very informative. Now feed the dog!
Got my '21 Performance Y day after Thanksgiving. Best car I have ever owned! And I was coming out of a Porsche Macan GTS, and a 911 and a C4 911. Blows those cars out of the water. My son in law has the 3, I finally drove it and was impressed. I then test drove a Y and liked the fact that you sit up higher. I am 75 yrs. old and enjoy driving like you do.
Interesting to hear you came from a Macan GTS. I am a huge fan of that car but its so much more than a Y and isn't faster so what's the point? Glad you are liking your Y!
I’m currently driving a 911 and use to own an M2 also. I just ordered a Y performance after test driving one yesterday. I love my Porsche but fear it will sit in the garage once I take delivery.
I also have a Porsche Macan GTS, and I am trading for new 2023 Model Y Performance. I test drove MYP, and I feel in love. I love the Porsche, and honestly, it was hard to trade in, but MYP is definitely faster and fun to drive.
I’m one of your “older viewers.” I enjoy your videos and I wish you the best with your move to being a full-time content creator. My one request is in future videos is to keep your shirt on; literally keep your shirt on! Also, it is nice when you include your wife when it is applicable. I’m moving my wife slowly towards a Tesla purchase and a feminine viewpoint can only help. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for calling us “older people” eloquent. My son always complains that I text him paragraphs. I can’t make myself not use correct punctuation. So my two cents about the Model Y is it’s the best car I’ve ever owned. But I never owned a luxury car before, so I don’t have much to compare it to. My first EV was a 2015 Leaf so I am used to driving electric. I also find the ride in the Y is bouncy. But the acceleration off the line from a stoplight never fails to make me smile!
I’m 61 and just bought a model Y a month ago. Previous car was a Prius. Commute around 50 miles a day and really like the Tesla. Safety, beautiful glass roof and very low cost of ownership sold me on this vehicle.
I’m packing on the miles too. At least 150 mi/day. I have some observations too in my MYP. Range takes a dive in the cold but love it. Thanks for sharing.
hoping this full time thing works out for you. have you thought about making content that is not car related? you're a natural entertainer so i could see you finding success doing videos on unrelated things
Gjeebs hanging out in the strip malls entertaining himself now that he’s a free man. Congrats on going all-in with the channel. Have the Model Y too and also think it’s a perfect daily driver.
I actually enjoy driving for the first time in my life after owning the Y. Im sure others can relate if you've owned crappy vehicles all your life :P. Great vid man!
I own a 2021 MY LR AWD. I watch the videos & the commercials, like & share just to support you and your new endeavor - from one Medical Equipment sales guy to another = jealous :)
I'm a 75 y.o. new subscriber and we're getting our first Tesla next month...a Model Y Performance. Look forward to your future humorous, informative videos.
I’m 57 and am taking delivery of a Model Y at the end of March to be used as my daily driver. Wanted the Model 3, which is a ton of fun to driver but to much trouble for my fat butt to get in and out of. The only thing that threw me off when doing test drives and trying to decide was that these things don’t have spare tires. They said I have to call a service tech to have them come out and change it for me. This goes against everything I was taught as a young man, to know how to do things for yourself and be prepared for whatever happens, I’m still trying to figure out how I’m gonna crowbar a spare into the car for my own piece of mind, 🤔 PS - thanks for the mention of PUNCTUATION! Can’t stand run on sentences with no periods or commas.
You might find ride quality better on the 19" OEM gemini wheels. Would love to see future comparisons on ride quality between the different tire options Tesla offers. Some new buyers are choosing a wheel by looks not realizing how it may change the ride quality.
Hi, I'm 79 and picking up my Model Y, Long Range, next week. Looking forward to FSD release to the public in the next quarter. FSD is probably not the "logical" choice but I am a techie. Forty-five years ago, while car-pooling my kids I thought ours would be the last generation to do carpools. Cars would drive themselves when my grandkids needed rides. I guess I was off by half a generation. My grandkids did need carpools, but there is some doubt if they will need driver's licenses. I'm looking forward to the day when cars are driven sanely, by computers.
I rented Hyundai Sonnata and I was very impressed with it's lane keep and adaptive crusie control. I've drive the tesla and I'd have say it wasn't that far off it's ability to keep the lane. I'm guessing they're using similar technology and AI system.
Just picked up a MYLR this week at the Scottsdale SC! Lol @ driving in chill mode, while I bought the $2k acceleration boost on my way home lmao. I don't get people's complaints about the bumpy ride... Maybe it's because I'm coming form an i3. I do have the 19", but I don't think it would make that much of a difference.
It's rather easy to guesstimate how much your bill will increase. There are 2 ways to calculate it. 1. A Model Y gets over 3 miles per kWh in the real world. Take your current monthly mileage, divide that number by 3, then multiply by the cost per kWh of your electric bill. 2. Alternate method - take the total of a months worth of gasoline bills and divide it by 4. Both of these methods will probably result in a value that will be more than what you will actually experience. These are worst case scenarios for most people.
Just my two cents. I have a model X and charge 3 times a week. Each charge is about 200 miles, charging in super off peak (12am-7am). I have solar and my bill is about $20/mo.
@@tweakitliveit8747 AWESOME, I have been planning in getting solar and also buying an electric car, Tesla is on top of my list. However, both projects are expensive and I don’t like owing money at all. I am thinking on getting solar first to see how it works, more likely it will be solar panels. I would love having the solar roof Tesla offers, but it is more than twice the price of the panels. My only concern is that I live in Rhode Island,; winters are long, I don’t know how much electricity solar panels will generate to justify the investment. One thing that makes mad is the price of gas, today the cheapest price was 2.95 per gallon. I said to myself, I think is time to get me a Tesla so I don’t have to buy gas again. If I would have been living in a state with a warm weather I would’ve done what I am planning a long time ago. What you did is very smart. Thanks for your great comment
I'm nearly 72 (give or take) can't quite remember. The technology doesn't scare me, it does excite me though. I'm waiting for the Y to become available in the UK, hopefully it will be sometime this summer. You can get the 3 here but I think the Y would be better for me (hips are worn out). Cute dog.
RE: 65-75 year olds and Tesla, one thing to remember, the reason Tesla is even around today is BECAUSE of the 65-75 year olds who were buying the first Model S and Model Xs off the line 10 years ago. Those were luxury priced vehicles, the demographics supporting Tesla in those early trended much older than the Model 3 crowds of today.
Love your videos, keep’em coming! What suspension are you ordering? I just noticed unplugged performance is offering dual rate linear lowering springs for $385. I’m thinking about getting the “mild” for a 1” drop and added comfort... Anyone tried these out yet?
I’m an old fart 65 and picked up my model 3 on December 7th 2020. It’s a 2021 and I love it. But I am an old fart that loves technology, the more technology the better.
I guess I would say I’m “older” now, but I had a 32 year career in IT, so the tech doesn’t give me pause at all! I do think that your viewers do show a higher level of erudition than many UA-cam channels. Good dog!
Thanks for the video Located in Canada I am looking am possibility buying a Tesla just not not sure which model Y or model 3 to go with. From what I see so far Model Y RWD 395 km range Pro -cheaper Cons - RWD & lower range Model Y AWD 531 km range Pros- better range & AWD Cons - Pice $10k more Model 3 RWD 433km range Pros - cheaper with reasonable range Cons - RWD & low seating position and smaller trunk
I am 65 and I am thinking of purchasing a model 3 or model Y. The next Model 2, which is supposed to be a hatchback sounds interesting as my current car is a VW Golf.
Selling my 2020 Odyssey (18mpg) and 2020 CR-V (21 mpg) to replace both with 7 seater MY... yes it won't as versatile as a minivan or have offroad capabilities as AWD CR-V with thick tires... but better to own Tesla than two gas guzzlers
Shitty thing about the Tesla in europe is that the battery warranty only lasts for "192.000 kilometers OR 8 years." (119.000 miles.) Not hard to guess which runs out first unless you just leave it in the garage and don't drive it. A good car is expected to run at least 300.000Km. I am really curious on if and when tesla will improve on their suspension. Looking forward to the first m3/my from giga berlin as I am from germany. Here people will be really picky.
I’m from England originally, so American grammar is always shocking. However my iPad is winning a slow war in killing my good grammar and spelling. I’m currently waiting for the new Model Y out of Texas with the 4870 batteries, and new structural build. Nearly pulled the trigger a couple of weeks ago, but the price went up, the radar went out. And I was left thinking this is a good time to wait for the new factory to spin up.
You generally drive with 3,2 or 1 car length of distance behind the car in front of you at highway speeds? Rethink that Gjeebs. 2-3 seconds is the law and you figure out what that means YMMV.
14 months with my Model Y and I'm right under 33k. Hands down the best car I've owned so far. Looking forward to getting the TriMotor CyberTruck! That 500miles of range will be heavenly during a road trip!
I was 75 when I bought my M3P and decided to visit the future. I think it does help a bit if you are comfortable with technology when you buy this car as very little is familiar. If you can fiddle with your smart phone or with your computer you can fiddle with your Tesla or you can get your grandchild to help in the beginning. This car handles extremely well, and home charging at 40+ miles per hour is great. I took it on a 4000 mile road trip looking for Superchargers. Always found them and lost no time since I also ate. Great car and Navigate on Autopilot got me off the George Washington Bridge without haste. Would buy another.
i's sorry for incorrect English use of grammar whatever shit because I never went school no education stll drives 2020 Porsche 911 carralea who the heck cares
Liked, just to feed the dog. Still haven’t seen a one in the UK yet but they’re building a plant in Germany so hopefully won’t be too much longer. Ps I’m 33 so not that old but in that demographic 👍🏻😂
Gjeebs: spot on with your daily driver review. Coming from an ex-Audi Q5 driver your comments about the stiff suspension are correct. I have a 2021 Y LR with 20 inch wheels and the Wife complains all the time about rough ride, lucky for me that Y is my car and not hers. I’m also in the old guy demographic 58 so don’t hold it against me. Keep the videos coming. :-)
Love your vids! About to finally order a Y (if I can convince my wife to keep my 997). What are your thoughts on the white interior? Is it holding up well? Worried about Jean dye transfer.
@@Gjeebs thank you! I apologize for missing the earlier video. Keep up the great content! Hopefully new headlights are offered on the LR Y and I’ll put in the order.
Dumb question maybe but for SAFETY, why not mount 2 cameras & cut between them While Driving?! lol. One on you, one showing the road. I’m sure your lovely wife would like this option vice you holding a camera, moving it around, looking at it… 🤔🤷♂️🤦♂️😎
Hi. I had been waiting for the Y to come out and then COVID hit. In March 2021, I’m 61 years old, had just started cancer treatments in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. I found out there was a brand new Tesla dealership here. Went to look at one of the existing inventory on Wednesday. Put a deposit down on a Red Multicoat, LR with FSD and 20 inch induction wheels. On Thursday I paid for it and on Friday I drove it home! Like you said, you can’t buy a Tesla when you’re dead, so might as well do it now!
Feb 2021. Turned 70. Bought a Y!
Happy belated birthday
Despite your age, glad to see you’re still an early adopter to new innovation. Stay young and stay healthy 👌🏼
Congrats & HBD
Big Up Yourself!!!
Congratulations 🎉
I am 69 and getting MY LR on 4/30

Poop jokes and blowing up the TJ Max bathroom. Yeah this is my kind of humor. Sub'ed.

Thank you for making a daily driving video on the Model Y.
One of the biggest concerns I have with the Model Y is the glass roof. Given that you live in the Phoenix area, does the car get much hotter than a car with a metal roof when it’s been sitting for an hour or so in the sun during the summer?

It's warmer than a metal roof for sure. The tint it comes with does a great job and if that's not enough you can get a sunshade for further protection
We have ours when we hit a record high of 117 this summer. You can tell that it's warm above your head but in no way is it deal breaker. It's actually great glass.
I’ve considered saving some initial cash by buying the LR & adding Eibach springs and new wheels. How’s the acceleration as a daily driver?
Acceleration is great and you can buy a boost to take acceleration from 4.8-4.2 to 60.
The trolls are not insulting you their actually jealous of you so it’s a good idea to know the difference positive folks don’t put out that kind of negativity just saying.

Is it feel much more heat in AZ in the summer?
My car tries to brake check people behind me about once a week on my commute to work going over the bridge. Have to keep your foot on accelerator to avoid this. I feel like an a hole when I forget.
You have a link to those trunk mats?
Have you tinted the roof to reduce the sun heating up the car? Gotta be hot in PHX like here in FLA and my glass roof gets very hot.
I’m in palm beach county. No problem with the glass roof. Just beautiful
Does autopilot have Lane Keep assist on freeways? Or is that only available in FSD?
Yea it steers you in your lane perfectly and will come to a complete stop in traffic.
Just hit 29K subs! Thank you!

Hi,
I'm 79 and picking up my Model Y, Long Range, next week.
I just randomly found this vid and you sir, had no business making this video this funny. Subbed
They should have put you in “the Office”
Great video. How much per month has your home electricity bill gone up on charging your Tesla?
I am going to do a full video on this subject
Great question. I'm interested in this as well.
Cute dog.
I watched so many videos about tesla up to now and this is the first one to see good explanation about the suspension on teslas! SUBSCRIBED NOW 😊
RE: 65-75 year olds and Tesla, one thing to remember, the reason Tesla is even around today is BECAUSE of the 65-75 year olds who were buying the first Model S and Model Xs off the line 10 years ago. Those were luxury priced vehicles, the demographics supporting Tesla in those early trended much older than the Model 3 crowds of today.
Very true
Love your videos, keep’em coming! What suspension are you ordering? I just noticed unplugged performance is offering dual rate linear lowering springs for $385. I’m thinking about getting the “mild” for a 1” drop and added comfort... Anyone tried these out yet?
I’m an old fart 65 and picked up my model 3 on December 7th 2020. It’s a 2021 and I love it. But I am an old fart that loves technology, the more technology the better.
I cannot drive an ICE vehicle anymore. I loved my mustang gt and now it feels like an actual snail.
????? I thought you quit your 95k/year job? WTF? PS- I'm 53 & bought my MY a month ago......
This was shot before that and needed to edit and finish some parts
Man loving these Model Y videos 👊🏻
I guess I would say I’m “older” now, but I had a 32 year career in IT, so the tech doesn’t give me pause at all! I do think that your viewers do show a higher level of erudition than many UA-cam channels.
Good dog!
5 year old, bought one model y excited
Thanks for the video

I am looking am possibility buying a Tesla just not not sure which model Y or model 3 to go with.
From what I see so far
Model Y RWD 395 km range
Pro -cheaper
Cons - RWD & lower range
Model Y AWD 531 km range
Pros- better range & AWD
Cons - Pice $10k more
Model 3 RWD 433km range
Pros - cheaper with reasonable range
Cons - RWD & low seating position and smaller trunk
I am 65 and I am thinking of purchasing a model 3 or model Y. The next Model 2, which is supposed to be a hatchback sounds interesting as my current car is a VW Golf.
Selling my 2020 Odyssey (18mpg) and 2020 CR-V (21 mpg) to replace both with 7 seater MY... yes it won't as versatile as a minivan or have offroad capabilities as AWD CR-V with thick tires... but better to own Tesla than two gas guzzlers
Shitty thing about the Tesla in europe is that the battery warranty only lasts for "192.000 kilometers OR 8 years." (119.000 miles.)
Not hard to guess which runs out first unless you just leave it in the garage and don't drive it.
A good car is expected to run at least 300.000Km.
I am really curious on if and when tesla will improve on their suspension.
Looking forward to the first m3/my from giga berlin as I am from germany.
Here people will be really picky.
Tesla to the world always room to improve but they will get there soon. I love tesla best car right now🇹🇹🇳🇱💯🔥🔥🔥
Air suspension is coming to the model 3 and the model y soon.
0-60 in 3/4/5 secs are not required by 99% for family/people. EVs are good but companies marketing how fast it can go 60mph is stupid.
"But it matches the rest of the panel gaps on the car, so it's a beautiful thing" hahahahhaha
You generally drive with 3,2 or 1 car length of distance behind the car in front of you at highway speeds? Rethink that Gjeebs. 2-3 seconds is the law and you figure out what that means YMMV.
I am 70 years old, up to my ass in snow. Will this car work here? A Canadian.
With snow tires or chains yes.
Ya but you’ll legitimately get 50% of the EPA estimates
I laughed harder than I should have at the pull up bar comment.
Would buy another.
i's sorry for incorrect English use of grammar whatever shit
because I never went school
no education stll drives 2020 Porsche 911 carralea
who the heck cares
I'm picking up my new MYLR in 2 hours and I'm definitely planning on racing every singe car at every single light 😁
awesome videos - I’ve purchased Tesla model Y - will take delivery this coming Saturday Thx for videos!!!
Thanks for the support and congrats on the Y!
Alcock 🤣🤣🤣 I can’t!! Keep up the great content 🙌🏼
Liked, just to feed the dog. Still haven’t seen a one in the UK yet but they’re building a plant in Germany so hopefully won’t be too much longer. Ps I’m 33 so not that old but in that demographic 👍🏻😂
Phantom braking, it's true! And a new Toyota Corolla has lane keeping cruise control...so...
Driving 6k miles a year. I want the performance but cant justify 70k purchase just for that.
How do you keep your glass roof so clean, any water stains yet?
Let off the -gas- _electric_
Got Model Y in August middle of the pandemic, already thinking of buying a second one for my family
Haha I would never hold it against you! I like you guys!
“The rest of you animals”. You better come correct. 😂
For what you paid compared to a fuel efficient regular car are you really saving any money? I did the math and no way is there any savings
Your scruffy beard reminds me of the hairs on my ass.
lol jk luv ur vids. lmao
Love your vids! About to finally order a Y (if I can convince my wife to keep my 997). What are your thoughts on the white interior? Is it holding up well? Worried about Jean dye transfer.
White seats are great. I already did a video on cleaning them that will help you out. I am shooting a follow up video soon
@@Gjeebs thank you! I apologize for missing the earlier video. Keep up the great content! Hopefully new headlights are offered on the LR Y and I’ll put in the order.
lovely. tesla model y should be exotic for how great it is.
Very smart Dog in video Love it! Well thought out video I just bought a 2017 Model S P100D white on white so far pretty fun car
I think the new camera only systems don't do the phantom braking but not 100 percent sure
You r probably in the car best suited to keep you alive if "something" happens.
Aaahh yes, the famous Phantom braking!
This is the future and thank you for showing this to your viewers.
Dumb question maybe but for SAFETY, why not mount 2 cameras & cut between them While Driving?! lol. One on you, one showing the road. I’m sure your lovely wife would like this option vice you holding a camera, moving it around, looking at it… 🤔🤷♂️🤦♂️😎
Cut between them while driving meaning when you Edit the videos.
We are off the grid, so we charge the MY with only sunshine!
Getting one this weekend for our wedding anniversary!! So excited!!
