There are many cordless trimmers to try for a cordless hedge trimmer comparison. The dewalt dcht820b is a cordless hedge trimmer that uses the 20 V Max batteries, and this is the tool only, the dewalt cordless hedge trimmer bare tool. In this dewalt hedge trimmer review. The dewalt dcht820b is for the most part not available in Home Depot stores, and it's cheaper online at Amazon, with free Prime shipping.

    DeWalt dcht820 hedge trimmer 20v review
    With our DeWalt tool unboxing and review underway, the only downside I see on this DeWalt cordless hedge trimmer is the trigger button does not have a lock-on feature, so this dcht820b dewalt cordless hedge trimmer only has a momentary on/off trigger. This means you have to hold the trigger button down all the time to operate this dewalt dcht820b cordless hedge trimmer. This cordless trimmer has 1" spacing btweent peaks of the blades, and 3/4" hole cut diameter, so the maximum branch cut size of this DeWalt DCHT820B cordless trimmer is 3/4".

    You have probably seen plenty of cordless hedge trimmer reviews, for this dcht820 and here we'll show you the cordless hedge trimmer comparison between this dewalt dcht820b cordless hedge trimmer my old corded Black & Decker hedge trimmer that this DeWalt Hedge Trimmer is replacing.

    HI again Jeff.
    Have had the DE Walt hedge trimmer for 3 months now and it is excellent! What you guys call a " yard " we in Ireland call a garden and mine is about 0.75 acres surrounded by hedging. The DeWalt makes easy work of keeping it in shape! I also bought the WORX snipper tool from Amazon US ( not available for some reason on European sites! ) It is also fantastic! ( In my opinion any WORX stuff I have is brilliant! ) Makes short work of carving up cardboard packaging and makes more room in recycle trash bin . Thanks for the help! Keep it going and stay safe in this strange World!

    Zip ties fix the non locking trigger. You should mention that its always best to cut the way you did, from the bottom up. Also, before I put the sheath back on, I take a small whisk broom and sweep all the cuttings off the blades and just let it sit in the sun for a while to let the moisture dry. I give it a light shot of WD 40 on the blades, run it for a few seconds, wipe it down, and go have a beer.

    • @jeffostroff
      @jeffostroff  4 роки тому +1

      Good idea on the moisture. Instructions also states: 1. After use, carefully clean the blades with a resin solvent. 2. After cleaning, apply a light film of lubrication to the exposed blade. Now they don't specify which lubricant to use, so I'm assuming a 3 in one oil maybe would be best. I don't agree with WD40, because WD-40 isn't actually a true lubricant like we expect a lub to be. WD stands for "water displacing" and its use is as a solvent or rust dissolver. I imagine it would be OK as the cleaning part of the maintenance steps here because it has the Stoddard solvent with mineral spirits. Then follow up with 3 in one oil.

    Hi Jeff,
    I have this DeWalt 20v hedge trimmer and it's great. It's been out for a while and hope dewalt can make a brushless version.
    You're also right about the battery. You really only need the 5.0ah. I do use the new 6.0ah battery a few times and it's not to bad.
    Anything smaller than a 5.0ah doesn't run as great.
    Thanks for the video.

    • @jeffostroff
      @jeffostroff  2 роки тому

      At 5:50 the video clearly shows the space from center of one tooth to the center of the next tooth has one inch. I don't know where you got your number from but it's completely 100% wrong. They advertise that this hedge trimmer can chop through three quarter-inch-sized branches. In order to do that by default it has to be bigger than the five eights that you are claiming. maybe you should measure it correctly

    • @albertsanchez8007

      @@jeffostroff You actually believe vendor advertising? Watch this video, the guy measures the cutting width via a caliper, and it's about 5/8". Moreover, the trimmer cannot cut (or even engage to cut) a 3/4" dowel because the space between the teeth isn't wide enough. ua-cam.com/video/kIlRcrm1RFY/v-deo.html

      Awesome! It was a nightmare getting this video to premiere, for 2 nights in a row, UA-cam's joke of a premiering system did a countdown, said it was going to start in 60 seconds, then never started. I had to delete the video and re-upload it for 3 hours upload time, and no premiere, just a normal upload. Better late than never. Sometimes UA-cam really sucks, yet they keep patting themselves on the back how great their platform is, they keep rolling out new features, but fail to fix what's broke with existing features.

    • @jeffostroff

      Here is the only thing the manual says about sharpening blades:
      The cutting blades are made from high quality, hardened steel and with normal usage, they will not require FIG. 12 resharpening. However, if you accidentally hit a wire fence (Fig. 12), stones, glass, or other hard objects, you may put a nick in the blade. There is no need to remove this nick as long
      as it does not interfere with the movement of the blade. If it does interfere, remove the battery and use a fine toothed file or sharpening stone to remove the nick.

I want to make sure I'm using the correct resin solvent/lubricant so not to damage it, and to keep this baby running for years. I have had mine for a year, it is a very good hedge trimmer, but it is underpowered than my Milwaukee trimmer.

      Maybe one day if I can get both of them together I'll do a comparison, and see how they do against one another.

      DeWalt has a 54V hedge trimmer and it's a beast. I tried it out at my tools supplier. Milwaukee can't hold a candle to it. It's a part of the new Dewalt commercial battery line tools..

      I bought mine at Home Depot. Their price with the battery and charger was $229. However Amazon had the same model for $198. I took the box to the service desk at Home Depot and once they confirmed the lower price on Amazon they priced matched at $198
