Sazambuling di na was composed by Thinley Gyamtsho in 1986. He is also known for other 1980s hits such as Nga gi choelu masong, Wai dorozom and so on. Together with his friend Tashi Gyeltshen (Lopen Tashi), he composed many hits in the 1980s such as Gola bumtha mathra, droba atara, ausaphaley jomi bum, and nursery rhymes like chaap chi chab dey and dumra na lu. They both used to be scout masters and taught scouts many Dzongkha songs. They were perhaps the first original rigsar singers.
When Thinley Gyamtsho was a student at Simtokha Rigney School, he was very fond of Bollywood movies and used to watch many at the Luger theatre. In 1974, he watched "Dhund", a 1973 Bollywood movie and he fell in love with the song "Sansar ki haar shay ka" by Mahendra Kapoor. Then in 1986, he composed "Sazambuling di na" based on Mr. Kapoor's song.
