I really appreciate the unique topics you cover on your channel. As for Frosslass / Gallade the only thing they have in common to me is that they are gender specific alternative evos given to existing Pokémon
I've always thought it interesting how Gallade and Froslass are both gender based optional evolutions (as a male Snorunt and female Kirlia have only one possible evolution, but the dawn stone gives an alternate branch to female Snorunt and male Kirlia), yet somehow it never occurred to me they were the ONLY Pokemon to evolve with the dawn stone
I am not 100% sure, but i think i read somewhere that Aegislash's preevolutions do have some aspect of draining life force out of those that wield it. Not as direct, but it may contribute in some part towards the stone used to have it evolve.
1:26 Random E-Vire put alongside Stone Evo Pokemon kinda throw me out of the video lmao Funny thing about Nidoqueen is, she doesn't reproduce in-game at least. Not even Nidorina, only Nidoran female and the male counterparts can reproduce. I wonder why Game Freak don't retcon Eevee's evolutions to Moon Stone to get Umbreon and Sunstone to get Espeon when they finally turned Ice Stone to get Glaceon and Leaf Stone to get Leafeon (also referencing how it would evolve in the Spaceworld 97 demo of Gold).
Wanted to add to the moon rabbit theory for generation 1, but Nidoran are also very rabbit like. This combined with Wigglytuff makes it seem like all 'rabbit' pokemon from the first gen evolve with a moon stone.
I was wondering when you'd get to explaining nidoking, with all the talk of lunar connections with femininity, and you never did. I guess at the very least, its first stage is rabbitlike?
I would guess my own misguided understanding of moon lore is what lead to my disappointment with the ongoing moon stone evolutions. From my culture and absorbed culture the moon represents feral energy and that energy emerging in accordance to an event, in life. Which is represented in real life animals such as deer/elk that go into rut and compete against each other. The bald eagle gaining a white head upon full maturity and salmon turning silver before coming home. In films that would be becoming a werewolf or how a vampire comes out only at night. At any rate Nidoking fit this cultural narrative completely at both fronts. Its a pokemon that is competitive and prizes it's horns. Grows into a bigger more competitive Pokemon with larger and more poisonous horns. To finally once a moonstone is found it's strongest and most feral form of all. Completely adding another type and abilities it never had before. I guess im just waiting for another Nidoking since I misunderstood moon lore.
Shiny Stone is called Dawn Stone and is the true counterpart to Dusk Stone. Dawn Stone is called Awekening Stone and it's unrelated to these two it awekens hidden traits in Pokemon.
Really interesting unpacking, especially re the dawn stone. Didn't know about that connection to renewal, but it makes so much sense. I thought Nidoran was literally based on the "moon rabbit" which was the reason for it's stone evo, but the femininity thing also works. It's probably one of the more layered gen 1 pokemon.
Very delightful video, it’s nice hearing kind things about my favorite Pokémon, clefable. Then being more feminine is definitely a big part of why I like them, and I also really like editing of your videos and the sound of your voice.
That's how it was until gen 8, when apparently the developers got sick of putting moss-covered and ice-covered boulders in every game and decided to ret-con the evolution method.
Very solid explanations, AND very pretty video too, almost makes me wonder what would happen if one of these pokemon had different evolutionary methods... ;)
Nice to see another video! I hope life's calmed down for you a bit. As for the stones, I've never really thought about them, origins or otherwise. It's cool to see what similarities you've found between them! Great job as always, can't wait for the next one!
I think it's included because they both evolve from nidoran, so because they're the same species, just with sexual dimorphism, Nidoking evolves because Nidoqueen does.
Still crazy the Dawn Stone hasn’t been used more. Loved your explanation for it and now I can’t stop thinking of the potential!
For real, it's my favorite visually speaking. Also, love your channel.
In Japanese, Dawn Stone is called "Awakening Stone", which means it awakens the hidden potential, so to speak.
I really appreciate the unique topics you cover on your channel. As for Frosslass / Gallade the only thing they have in common to me is that they are gender specific alternative evos given to existing Pokémon
6:00 not saying you're incorrect with the statement, but I have to point out that you have a picture of Roserade when talking about Florgus.
I always found the idea of non traditional evolutions fascinating
Florges evolve from a shiny stone right

I always saw the Nidoran as a little but rabbit-like, so the rabbit connection is there too!
I like your funny words magic man.

I'm going to be biased and say the Sunstone because it gets me my favorite Pokémon, Lilligant.

oh shit that remix of area 0 is lit

Dawn Stone is called Awekening Stone and it's unrelated to these two it awekens hidden traits in Pokemon.
I guess tam valley productions is finished….
So, you're just gonna ignore nidoking?
Just leave an entire pokemon out of your analysis of the moon stone?

wait! Leafeon evolves with grass stone!? I thought it evolves with mossy rock as counter part to glaceon with Icy rock
That's how it was until gen 8, when apparently the developers got sick of putting moss-covered and ice-covered boulders in every game and decided to ret-con the evolution method.
beautiful video thanks
Crazy production value! Great video!
Great to see you back!
Hope you're travelling well.
Very solid explanations, AND very pretty video too, almost makes me wonder what would happen if one of these pokemon had different evolutionary methods... ;)
im sooooo moonstone coded
what about the ice stones?
It’s an elemental stone so it can be categorized with the fire, water, leaf and electric stones
Great vid
The Dawn Stone is for the trans Pokemon
Nice to see another video! I hope life's calmed down for you a bit.

aw yes feminine and gentle perfectly describes Nidoking 😒
I think it's included because they both evolve from nidoran, so because they're the same species, just with sexual dimorphism, Nidoking evolves because Nidoqueen does.
Nidoking and nidoqueen are a little bit rabbit
So evolving rabbit into kaju rabbit with the power of the moon sort of works
My favorite stone is the Hard Stone 🪨💪
I wish the more of the move boosting items were actually used for evolution like the Metal Coat is
Ovalstone for people who like things to be round
