Taylor insisted on have a cameo soley so she could keep an eye on Richard Burton. She kept thinking that him and Genevieve were going to start an affair
Actually, Richard wanted her on set and had it written in to his contract that she could visit any time she wanted. There was a chair with ETB on it for her, and he tried to break his contract when they didn’t want to cast her. She forced him to learn his lines, because he didn’t want to do it.
@@yafayafa9601 Faithful wasn't a word to imply justly with Taylor. Keep in mind Liz wasn't exactly "faithful" to Debbie Reynolds, who wooed her ex Eddie Fisher to her clutches and later with Burton when the two starred in Cleopatra in 1963. I bet Fisher felt betrayed when their rumored affair came to light and realized how preposterously stupid he was tarnishing his fairytale marriage with Debbie for the arms of a violet-eyed she-devil. Payback is a bitch, Yafa.
@@isabelbeckerman9226 I agree! Anyway, i didnt know the details (Fisher, Debbie...), u made me curious and i guess i will check on wiki. But Taylor wasn't exactly a woman to trust, yet its said she was very generous as a person (doing lot of charity).
@@isabelbeckerman9226 Isabel, i read. Doesnt seem to me that Debbie and Eddie were living a fairytale marriage anyway. He had many bad addictions at the time (including affairs with different women) while married to Debbie.
i never would have known that was Taylor, had to freeze frame to see her, even then it was a little blurred. It's one of my favourite Anne Boleyn films, The Other Boleyn Girl was also excellent. Bujold was brilliant, they all were.
Her other cameo "appearance" was the one line "GOO", the first word uttered by the new baby on The Simpsons cartoon series. I hear she got paid a cool mill for that!
Actually yes that was Elizabeth Taylor....Sure Irene Papas is seen kneeling as she prays....But Liz is with another guy when they open the door, make thier bow, and then close it. That was the only time she showed up....
A lush no expense spared & Burton's last great movie at end of his 1960s. The Seventies brought a new filming & new big stars ie Clint Eastwood who he co-starred in Where Eagles Dare.
Hard to see but Liz Taylor is wearing her famous pearl in an earlier setting. Not quite period, but serviceable. Not to mention, that pearl, La Peregrina, was discovered ca1513 and given to the Spanish monarch sometime later. Thought to be a gift from Philip to Mary (Catherine's daughter) in the 1550s, but probably not. Would have been a lovely Easter egg if so.
It was very sad Elizabeth didn´t get a role in this movie, maybe could have been catalina?eventhough Irene Papas is extraordinary, but going back to the point, I really think Elizabeth taylor could have been in this movie .I also Think Richard Burton, could have won an Oscar or Golden Globe, very disappointed for this.

Lol, i didnt know about it, but i find it funny that she thought "faithful" to her means to kind of chain him.

Look at the mask & any photo & you can see it resembles her in her eyes.
Was this not the cameo Elizabeth Taylor did because she did not trust her husband?

This may be a malicious wink at Richard Burton...

Definitely Elizabeth I'd know that famous décolleté (top of the breasts) anywhere
And her violet eyes behind the mask as well. Most definitely.

No jewelry??

uli chabo the lady wearing the mask when she bursts in the room is Liz Taylor
Its Elizabeth Taylor, there's photographs of her in costume on set in that same dress

Liz wanted the starring role - what a disaster that would have been.
I loved Burton's reply to her: "I think you're a bit long in the tooth, Love."
@@CatMoves1 In her brief cameo, Taylor can't destroy the film as she does in most.

Taylor was absolutely wrong for Catherine of Aragon.
