You have to realise that these older cartoons, actually weren't meant for kids. Believe it not but these short animations were tossed out to go in front of movies and ended up being made for adults. Cartoons wouldn't be seen as for kids until hannah barabara moved over to TV and ended up having to fill the Sat am slot with cheap animations aimed at kids the result is pretty much why we view cartoons as "just for kids" at times even now. Its hard to picture it, but Snow White was aimed at adults when we view it as a kid's movie by Disney standards today. Thingswere just different back then and they believed animation was art and kids can't apricate art like adults so.. Yeah... This is why there is no holding back for some pre-1960s cartoons.
Had this classic and more on vhs as a child in the 80s, watched it so many times. Fun fact - the episode with the piano with Tom playing and jerry inside won an Oscar.
My mom used to tell me that my great grandfather used to drown kittens in order to get rid of them on their property. That always made me sad as a kid.
I remember watching this and going to my mom and saying "mom they drowned them" ps I saw this episode like one week after I saw a video of people saving dogs from a river, when I asked her why the dogs were in there, she told me that when mean people don't want them anymore, they'll tie them up in a bag and throw them in a lake, so yeee I was shocked when I saw this
Another really dark episode is the one where Tom really loves this other cat and he’s trying to impress her but she’s being way too picky. He spends all of the money he has on a small diamond ring and tries to propose to her with it. When he does so, the female cat tom is trying to propose to rejects him and shows him a huge diamond ring that she got from another rich cat that she was seeing. She immediately leaves Tom heartbroken. Tom immediately sits on the train tracks looking really sad and Jerry comes along looking at a card of his love interest, but later sees his love interest drive in a car with another male mouse and the car says just married. Both of them sadly wait on the train tracks waiting to end things and in the last couple seconds of the episode you can hear a nearby train passing and that’s when it cuts off
I remember exactly where I watched this episode as a child, it was one of the deeper ones. I had total nightmares that night because I had a fever. Fully made the negative connection with this episode.
no wonder those kittens look so happy to be there.. they're away from those awful humans who did that to them. sadly, this happens way more often than you would think. I've seen this reference too many times and I knew exactly what it was. it's extremely cruel and awful and should not happen period.
@@exodus6996 nooooo not at all, it's because sometimes when people don't want a litter of kittens that was born in their house for whatever reason, they will tie them up in a bag and usually put a brick or something heavy in it so when they throw the poor babies in the water they will sink and... Yeah... People do this in the real world and it is so awful and disgusting. They really could just give the kittens to an animal shelter but some people are too cruel to even think about that. And unfortunately, it's not just kittens that this happens to
The context of this the episode made it hard to miss what was going on and the message it was putting out.. they did a good job I don’t see how ppl r shocked
But those three cats are pretty annoying in the episode, people kill animals everyday. In the farm where the food are came from, in the house where we like to spray insect, and in the wild when we meet wild and hungry animals.
The one that I always remember is when the little duckling thinks Tom is his mommy. Tom wants to eat him the whole time and the sweet little duckling doesn't realize it. Finally, Tom makes a bed for him in a pan and put him in the oven. The duckling goes along with it, and he's sad, but he's does it because it's what his mommy wants. That was so freaking disturbing and sad. But thankfully, Tom's heart grows three sizes that day.

Thingswere just different back then and they believed animation was art and kids can't apricate art like adults so.. Yeah... This is why there is no holding back for some pre-1960s cartoons.
@@AngelEmfrbl I'm not reading all that bro
Well, what was the number of episode
basically a normal tom and jerry episode with a dark theory at the end
What is the dark theory
Painful dwag
Yeah, old time farmers used to control the pet population that way. Just plop a gunnysack in the river.
Wow, it made me nauseous as a kid.
"heavenly Express" is one of my favourite episodes in the whole Tom and Jerry series!!
Thank you "Tom and Jerry " for creating My childhood joyful!!
So sad and cruel. I can remember that episode and not realizing or understanding this as a child. Now I'm 43 years old I see this very different.
In my 30s. This episode still scares me till this day.

Scared and scarred
Bro why y’all so mean
Had this classic and more on vhs as a child in the 80s, watched it so many times. Fun fact - the episode with the piano with Tom playing and jerry inside won an Oscar.
My mom used to tell me that my great grandfather used to drown kittens in order to get rid of them on their property. That always made me sad as a kid.
Relax,it's just a Tom and Jerry episode
I remember watching this and going to my mom and saying "mom they drowned them" ps I saw this episode like one week after I saw a video of people saving dogs from a river, when I asked her why the dogs were in there, she told me that when mean people don't want them anymore, they'll tie them up in a bag and throw them in a lake, so yeee I was shocked when I saw this
Ok
@piztah sure
@piztah just put up a free pet box not throw them in a fucking river
🧢
If you look at the ticket guy in the episode, he seems sorry for the three kittens
he's not sad, he's looking down
@@yassetgonzalez he actually was sad and something about how cruel people are.
@@yassetgonzalez he shook his head it means he feels bad for the kittens.

Ok.. this guy is soooo high!!!
And has way too much time on his hands!! That's what he got out of that?!?!
😂😂😂😂😂
Both of them sadly wait on the train tracks waiting to end things and in the last couple seconds of the episode you can hear a nearby train passing and that’s when it cuts off
Yeah that episode was more disturbing than the one in the video . As a child, it got me disturbed even tho i only saw the episode once.
Ya I renember that it is very true irl for some people
do you know the name? I wanna watch it

For those of you who don't know, Tom is actually a cat

What? I thought he was an elephant
Then why does a cat have human name like "Tom"??
@@Pau_Pau9 what 💀
@@Pau_Pau9 My uncle had a cat named 'Tom'
I remember exactly where I watched this episode as a child, it was one of the deeper ones. I had total nightmares that night because I had a fever. Fully made the negative connection with this episode.
I learnt life through this era of cartoons as a kid in the 70's
no wonder those kittens look so happy to be there.. they're away from those awful humans who did that to them. sadly, this happens way more often than you would think. I've seen this reference too many times and I knew exactly what it was. it's extremely cruel and awful and should not happen period.
i think it’s suppose to symbolize abortion, maybe not idk
@@exodus6996 nooooo not at all, it's because sometimes when people don't want a litter of kittens that was born in their house for whatever reason, they will tie them up in a bag and usually put a brick or something heavy in it so when they throw the poor babies in the water they will sink and... Yeah... People do this in the real world and it is so awful and disgusting. They really could just give the kittens to an animal shelter but some people are too cruel to even think about that. And unfortunately, it's not just kittens that this happens to
Still happens way too often.
@@exodus6996 No. It was common in the UK to throw a bag of kittens in the river to dispose of them.
@@playlistsaving2650 okay but like why? are we talking about street cats or house cats
Interviewer : What is your speciality sir ?
Him : I can make Tom and Jerry dark...
The context of this the episode made it hard to miss what was going on and the message it was putting out.. they did a good job I don’t see how ppl r shocked
this traumatized me back when i was a kid
Most goated cartoon of its era 💯
all time imo
Also said to have been Tom’s siblings. He was lucky enough to have been adopted
these cartoons in the 1930’s and 40’s were originally created for adults .. not children .. that is the reason
The darkest tom and jerry episode is tom got decapitated.
Surprised he didn’t talk about when Tom was trying to get jerry to sign the paper, that was actually dark
Oh I realized and understood it. It was one of my favorite episodes. The bag of kittens always thought was pretty fkd up, even as a kid.
The sad thing is that this happens in real life as child murder
I never understood how in some episodes they are mortal enemies and in other episodes they are good friends.
Fun fact: this episode is banned in the middle east and north africa
This episode really shows how cruel the world is😢
Stuff messed up😔
But those three cats are pretty annoying in the episode, people kill animals everyday. In the farm where the food are came from, in the house where we like to spray insect, and in the wild when we meet wild and hungry animals.
You have to he white if a cartoon made you realize that
This comment shows how weak people are now.
That’s what the whole cartoon shows the 1940s version and the newer ones do.
It's a CARTOON for god's sake!
as a kid, I remember being confused seeing this episode.
that's enough to make a grown man cry
Tom was sent down to earth to be forgiven for the torment that he had done on jerry for all those years.
All those cartoons back in the days and presents had some form of violence .
All the cartoons back in my day were all violent.
When you are halfway through a video but you accidentally scroll and have to rewatch it all:
The one that I always remember is when the little duckling thinks Tom is his mommy. Tom wants to eat him the whole time and the sweet little duckling doesn't realize it. Finally, Tom makes a bed for him in a pan and put him in the oven. The duckling goes along with it, and he's sad, but he's does it because it's what his mommy wants. That was so freaking disturbing and sad. But thankfully, Tom's heart grows three sizes that day.
Yesss that episode hit hard. He adopted him, and even started swimming like a duck. "That's My Mommy"😅
When i was a kid this episode scared me a lot especially the part where tom has to make jerry sign the paper and tom was running out of time
I did and still love this cartoon. It’s a good reminder.
The background music is scarier than the plot itself.
Its sorta like a grim, sad type of song
