- VHSR 2022-2023 Virtual Town Hall Series presents George Hull with Amtrak and Steven Morrison with Siemens to discuss "Moving America: Amtrak's New Airo Trains".
Our Virtual Town Hall series is made possible by the generous sponsors: JBG Smith, Siemens, and WSP.
RE: Electric + Battery trainsets, perhaps this can make some electrified extensions a bit easier, if a complex bridge/tunnel/obstacle can just be bypassed on battery.
6:43 you guys forgot the Siemens Venture railcars for state supported routes and Midwest services
If that is what they are running on the Blue Water route, they are terrible. Whoever ordered them should be fired.
The renders show better seating than what's in Chicago. The Venture cars are not part of the same order as the Airo sets soon to come.
If they upgrade the train sets, I truly hope they make the seats as comfortable as the Amfleet 1s… I can get a decent sleep on the old setups.
There is no way that the B2 configuration, with the first coach being a APV coach and the last coach being a cab control coach, with a 49 seat BC car....that it can carry 479 people. No way.
Hull wore out guy from Siemens.. See him yawning about the 20:55 mark... WOW Fumble and Mumble...
The new Siemens-built coaches now being used on the Blue Water Route (Port Huron to Chicago) are terrible. The seats are very uncomfortable. The aisle width is too wide, and the seats are too narrow. Also, the seat backs do not recline as much as the old coaches and the padding is very stiff. Moreover, there are no footrests. Whoever supervised the order of these coaches at Amtrak should be fired. The revenue on this route is now certain to fall because of this poor decision-making.
The seats in the renders seem to be better than what's used in Chicago. Remember, the cars in Chicago were ordered separately from the Airo sets.
