    Robert, Gravy for the Brain is a great Voice Over community. They have every day practices with experienced mentors. The recordings get recorded. I will start doing VO after my full time job, wish me good luck!

    Hey Robert!
    Brock Rogers was great! The tonality you put on for the voice works really well for the context of the story! The 'animated American' style suits you.
    I also like your anatomy voice over (top marks for pronunciations!). Its very clear and engaging.
    Still for me is your car and your sports (betting) commercials from way back. Much suited for your voice and energy!

      Right on, man! Thanks for the input! That Brock voice is fun to do. Haha. It would be amazing to see him put to use some day. My VO dream is to have my voice in a top brand car commercial some day so I appreciate those words of encouragement here as well. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

    Hi Robert, audiobook narrator here looking to do more short form narration. Audiobooks are great, but you are absolutely correct, it is a marathon. A little tip for interrupted moments to help you get back to that voice; listen to 30 seconds to 1 minute of what you last recorded, speak the last few lines you recorded and a few of the new ones and then hit play and begin. If you are looking to take classes with other students, take a look at Closing Credits, they are a great resource for beginners. The classes are very reasonably priced. Some of the teachers also offer coaching. You are doing great, keep going!

      Thank you for this, Jeanne!! That’s a great tip regarding the continuity and I’ll practice with that. I’ll also definitely check out Closing Credits. I’ve not come across them before. Thanks a ton for commenting! 🙏🏼

    Awesome work on all the samples! In order of most immersive for me: Brock segment (loved it!!), Narration, Medical, Audio Book. Best of luck on the coaching & looking forward to hearing about the experience if you care to share 😊 I was undecided about coaching as well and then decided on Skillshub for VA to take online classes. Though Improv has been highly recommended so I’ll be doing that live in October 🤔

      @@DayOneVoiceover I really enjoy it so far. There are various coaches to choose from for 1-1 and there is a path system based on where you are in your journey, & one of my favorite things are the free workout rooms run by coaches and students of various career stages. It helps a ton being able to practice with others! & it’s my pleasure! It’s nice to see the journey of others on a similar path, makes it feel not so alone & I’m always happy to spread encouragement into the VO Sphere so to speak lol

    I’m new to the Vo as well, a podcast that I listen to is Voice Acting Mastery done by Crispin Freeman he is a legend and easy and encouraging listening. He also has group coaching available. Could you link the coaches you got suggested? I’ve been trying to find some more options. Also another person is Steve Bloom. Also keep up the work! You won’t be amazing out of the gate, keep putting one voice infront of the other (instead of feet) a little progress is still progress. Voice Over is not a destination it’s a journey, you never really arrive you are always improving.

      Thanks, Daniel! Good idea on linking the coaches. I’ll do that when I get back to my office and update the description. Did you take Crispin’s coaching, or done any others?

      I have not done Crispen freeman’s session yet, I’m but it’s in my next list once I have the finances available. Coaching I have taken which was 2 sessions was (Voice coaches) in my opinion I don’t recommend them for the price you only get 4 one on one trainings before a demo day that you will produce with them. One of the best guys I have come across for the money and honesty is “Hey great voice” look it up on google. He offers 10 one on one sessions and a demo, even will evaluate you to see if your up to par, and give you things to work on. And it was a fraction of the price of the other places. Also I was thinking about setting up my own UA-cam for my voiceover journey would you mind if I did? And one more question how in the world do you get your voice overs to go over videos? What program do you use?

    Great video Robert! Brock Rogers needs to be your alter ego! 😅 Candidly, I found and felt the medical/factual read the most authentic from what I know of your character and personality. Perhaps eLearning VO on tech subjects could be an avenue to pursue? You have probably thought of that. Of course, I'm not saying the others were not good, just personally for me, you transported me into the learning with the medical read, than just trying to be objective about your voice. I'm also curious, do you warm your voice before yours reads too?

    • @DayOneVoiceover
      @DayOneVoiceover  4 місяці тому +1

      Thank you, Norf! Haha Brock is a fun one for sure. It would be cool to use that voice professionally some day. As for the medical reads, I enjoyed that one. Felt natural. But I don’t do a great job or warming up my voice. However, I generally record in the middle of the day and not at the end or first thing so it’s nicely warmed up already. I should be better about genuine warmup routines though.
