That's the beauty of that era. The limitation, combined with the newness of the actual tech, lead to compositions that just haven't yet been matched.
It was an amazing time to be grow up.

@@Cellardoorkidd Well, I guess that's up to you lol. Personally I enjoyed this story more, and the cut scenes in-between stages were great. The intro at the beginning is fantastic too (with creepy music), so definitely watch the intro before you hit the start button. There are no "shadow ninjas" in this one, but there is a giant sword, which I personally prefer.

Ramiro1992 (Mr_X) Nope, the 2nd one will always be the best. There is a rule in the video game sequel world. The first one is the worst, the 2nd is the best one as it improves on the original than the third one cannot hope to match the greatness of the 2nd even though it is close lol.

Simply tremendous music! Captures the themes, the ideas, and the emotions of this bizarre and complex episode in the saga of Ryu Hayabusa's hero's journey. And that bumping final battle theme can't be beat!

alxxpspqr The NES version is mostly impossible unless you completely memorize the stages. The only real solution is to get a ROM hack that not only gives infinite continues and the Japanese version's password system which comes in handy.

19:59 - we always used to play this game on PAL speed, and it was even more beautiful...
In english version as an indonesian childhood i just play and see the ending.. without understand the story 😅
The final 2 bosses are a complete PAIN. To make things worse when you die you have to zap back 2-3 stages and go through the torture all over again just to get to those 2 nearly invincible nastiest, I find that Ryu's Father is even harder than the final boss.
Its make me cry... old times...
