  • G'day, guys! In today's video, I chop and propagate two of my favourite variegated plants, my Philodendron domesticum. We turn 2 plants into about 10, and hopefully we can sell these in the future to make a decent profit.
Connect with me on Instagram - / petevsplant
Check out my eBay store - www.ebay.com.a...
We pot the Philodendron domesticums up in a bunch of different mediums/substrates including soil and a combination of leca + lechuza pon.
If you have any tips and tricks for propagating rare Philodendron or other aroids, leave them in a comment below!

Got 15 minutes into this where you're talking about different steps to root a plant before realising I have an Alocasia dragonscale soaking in peroxide that I put there over an hour ago 🙈 thanks for the reminder! Great video and chat as always Pete

@@petevsplants7516 thanks! It's in moss now. Pro tip: don't water your plants "just in case" before you go on holiday. It didn't need it 😂

I have a question,If possible what can you grow outside and what is your yard like to grow outside?Only answer if you want to.

I can probably grow a few things all year round, mainly Monstera deliciosa and similar plants. But mostly, I think winter would kill them.

Have you ever tried Kiki paste? I haven’t but I’ve seen s couple videos & they seemed to of had good luck using it.

Yeah, only on one thing and it didn't seem to do anything, though I think the growth point had already died and that was more the issue.

If you put some water in the reservoir before you pour in the LECA it is much more quiet

G’day Pete, another awesome video! Here is a tip for you…. I have found that soaking my props in water for about an hour or so makes the sphagnum moss easier to remove 🌱💕

Glad you made the comment. I was gonna ask your opinion on adding perlite to Pon. It seems heavy for the alocasia I want to pot up. The roots are pretty fine.
Can’t wait to see how these pop for you.

Cheers, mate. I think the basic principles are just have a substrate that has good grain size for the plant's root thickness (larger roots, larger grain size) and make sure it can absorb and hold the right amount of moisture.

I agree that I much prefer the yellow variegated to the white since they don’t seem to brown. Might be why I prefer the thai con to the albo. How do you find the rate of propagation failure with the bubbler.

      @petevsplants7516  Рік тому +1

Hey mate, it's been pretty good to be honest. I haven't tracked failures, but I'd say I've only had 1 or 2 things not work well in it.

Oh my gosh! Didn’t know that adding pearlite to pon was ok.
Or that using Lecca in the base of a container, combined with Pon works great for drainage.
Super informative video and really enjoy watching Peaches as well!

Those are some beautiful propagations! Just got myself a Burle Marx variegated yesterday. Love some yellow variegation! So pretty! 🤩 I have monstera Aurea as well but haven’t experienced any browning whatsoever. Hope I don’t jinx it! 😂
