I'm positive it wouldn't have mattered in the slightest! The small bike community is awesome and very inclusive. There were all kinds of builds there. 😊
So pleased this event is still alive and going well, have been on many runs with SYD himself, then with his son Keith many years ago, the following has grown, the etiquette has not changed ? always a blast. The old run use to go over Gebbies pass, governor's bay, then through the tunnel. Some interesting bikes ,I recall one that had 3 x 98 cc villiers engines coupled in line, total chaos but total fun. good luck to the future.
I remember that bike! There was also a double ended Velo-Solex and another bike with a Velo-Solex style drive system but with a home-built motor made from two Honda 50 barrels end-to-end, a Briggs & Shrapnel crank, and an atmosphere pressure hair spring inlet valve. There's a book in the oddities of Syd's Run.
This is honestly amazing! In my opinion Syd's Run is one of the best motorcycle runs (big or small bikes) and I hope it continues for a long time! Sounds like there have always been amazing builds for this event over the years! 😁

There's usually chat about it in the Small Bike Runs in Canterbury Facebook page, that may be your best starting point. Ride safe bro! ✌🏻
