Thank you so much for this. I had watched so many other videos but it wasn't working so I knew I was missing something. Yours was much clearer on the download and what to do with it.
When I pop my sd card back into my camera body and then press update it says the update file cannot be found. it is visible in my card when I open it up on my computer - Any tips?
Thanks for your question. Is the file (update file) you saved a dmg. file? the file name looks something like this "eosr5-v190-mac.dmg" sometimes people try installing the FIR file and that wont work. Check the file name is the dmg file and be sure to unzip if necessary ... hope that helps
Thank you for this video. I have a fairly new camera, and it's not working as well as I thought it would. Hopefully an update will help. Honestly, I didn't even know that they could be updated. I guess I should have read the manuals a little better.
Yes, sometimes the updates do work amazingly well and sometimes they are just slight tweaks..either way I hope you get your camera working better, what camera type are you using?
For what dumb reason does Canon require you to specify your computer OS in order to give you the ability to download firmware for your camera? I get it when it comes to software for your computer, but not firmware. For example, if firmware came out when the macOS was, let’s say, Big Sur or Ventura, and you choose Sonoma because that’s what you’re currently using, you won’t even see that there is firmware you might not have. I became aware of firmware I didn’t have but could not find it. Only when I started googling it, did I stumble across a forum that said you have to go backwards thru each older OS in order to eventually come across the firmware. Canon tying camera firmware to a specific computer OS is just plain silly…and annoying.
Was really helpfull. Really appreciate it

Thanks Tom, didn't realise it was that easy. Going to do it now.
cheers mate... can make a difference if you haven't done an update for a while... just optimises certain features

No firmware option of 1.8 or 1.9 is showing up on the canon site?

@dreamlifephotography I have a Canon Rebel T3 and a Canon T7. It is the T7 I wish to fix. I also have a pocket Canon SX710 HS camera.
I THERE A WAY TO UPDATE THE CAMERA WITHOUT SD CARD ?
Nope, I tried connecting my 5d mark4 to my PC and it doesn't work, it's read only there's copy function so you need an sd card to update the camera
My camera view stuck and error i cannot control my aperture, shutter speed, and i remember never update firmware, and its late not. What should i do?
Sounds like a camera error, I would contact your camera manufactors service department

Yeah, I don't know mate, you would have to ask Canon
