Hate to break it to you Heidi, when an American says USA is the greatest country in the world the rest of the world just rolls their eyes.
To be fair; every country instills that kind of sentiment in its populace, I believa it is called patriotism.
yeah, but when someone says thats about america you only think "bloody ignorant idiot. "
@@Paltse True, but the US is blindingly patriot while other countries (except North Korea) still see what their country really is.
@@TTTzzzz Yeaa. We Finns do love to laugh at the world happiness report xth year in a row.
@@TTTzzzz We italians burst out laughing when people say they would like to live here. I guess I'm numbed to the appeal of it

And he said that over 20 years ago, and it has only gotten worse since.... Now it's a federal crime to be homeless in some states. a crime to exist as a homeless person.
...'your thout what every other country did to us, whom started a war with us'??... rly... u been lied to.... thers littrally no1 that has declared a war on USA... but the opposite is in abundance...
USA has declared wars on:
Greate Britan, France, New England, The Brittish colonies, Indian colonies, The cheerokee indians, Marocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Tripoli, The Grece, Mexico, Union vs Confederation war, the Russian federation, Germany, Japan, North korea, Cummunist china, Cuba, Panama, Iraq, Yogoslavia, Afganistan, Pakistan, Somalia, Uganda, Syria, Houthi rebels, Supreme Political Council in Yemen, and allies, Isis, IS
..and who has declared a war on USA again?....
ryan dylan: what ur problem?...let her be who/what ever she like...
btw where r u from?...the states?
And Al Murray,lol
Americans have the American Dream; we don’t because we’re awake 🤣
When we are kids in Europe, we idealize US from movies and TV shows. We wanna live there. As we grow older it is like .. No thank you .. :)
I still love U.S
I wouldn't have guessed 😂
Yes, this is how we perceived it in Slovakia (formerly Czechoslovakia) in the 90s, when American series and films began to be broadcast in our country after the fall of the Iron Curtain. But after all the terrible things I've experienced with my health, I'm glad I live here...14 years ago, I became seriously ill. I got swine flu virus A(H1N1), multi-organ failure, 3 months in a coma in the ICU, another months of follow-up treatment. And permanent consequences with kidney failure, for 13 years I had to go on expensive dialysis 3 times a week, I had difficult joint operations, I have titanium hip joints, the entire femur, joint, ankle and difficult stays in the hospital and months in rehabilitation institutions, monthly I take thousands of Euro worth of medication, and a year ago, after only six months of waiting, when I was included in the transplant program,
I received a kidney from a dead donor. And what cost to me? Zero. Only mandatory health insurance in tens of Euros (Dollar has the same value here) per month.. Yes, our health care is not in the best condition, but that is not the fault of the system setup, it is good, but the fault of the politicians who stole from the health care through planted companies billions. We also have paid maternity (and paternity) leave of up to 3 years!, medicines prescribed by a specialist doctor are free, once a year a preventive check-up at the dentist is free, of course birth and postpartum care of the newborn (mandatory) is free, vaccinations, etc., etc. My mother was treated for cancer, unfortunately she lost the battle, but she didn't pay anything, insulin and such medicines are of course free, or with only a small additional payment... There is also a mandatory and paid employee leave of 4-6 weeks, etc., etc. When I hear that the Americans have to pay for everything, I feel sorry for them... They should put pressure on the government so that at least some of these ends, which are completely obvious to us, are fulfilled. We are a young democracy, we used to be a socialist block behind the "Iron Curtain", we have big problems with corruption in politics, but such "conveniences" have been a matter of course for over 100 years.
Greetings from Slovakia, formerly Czechoslovakia in Central Europe
We did?
That was a few generations ago....most young people now know it's just one big shitehole of a country that's meddling in other countries' affairs all over the world.
While my wife and I were on holidays in Bali, we over heard an American couple complaining “why are there so many asians here ? Go home already”. We were stunned that they didn’t know that Asians live in Asia.
The ordacity of them being in ANOTHER country talking about others should go home. let alone the country citizens🙄🤦🏽♀️ 😂
some think the world is the Epcot Center. they prob thought the locals were students dressing up as Asians. :D
anjay wkwkwk serius? orang tua apa masih pada muda? 🤣🤣
I had a similar experience with americans in France. A man telling his wife (I assume she was his wife) that he was okay to visit the Puy du Fou but he did not want to any "foreigners" while doing it.... Like, man, sorry to break it to you but YOU are the foreigner, not the French people living here 🙄 if you do not want to see French people, do not come to France... same with any other countries.
They go oit of the USA and seem to believe it is just a USA's colony/conquered territory. 😐
I suspect most people in the world are sick of hearing how the US won WW2 like they were the only participants... Of course they forget that the rest of the world was at war over 2 years before the US joined in... and even then, it was only because the Japanese provoked them at Pearl Harbour. It would be interesting to see what would have happened if the Japanese hadn't attacked.
"Did Walmart care? Did Walmart change any policies after that?"
From the perspective of a Norwegian, the question should rather be "Did the country care? Did the country change any policies after that?"
Sadly, the answer to both are "no".
Exactly. 🥺
My thoughts exactly. I mean why even ask about the company? They will never change, it's the government's job.

Americans are happy to pay their taxes for a military which provides collective security for everyone, and they don't see it as socialism. Yet they see a healthcare system funded out of taxation to provide collective health benefits for everyone as socialism. This confuses me.

Also, Americans pay more in healthcare taxes than Scandinavians.. People really need to get that into their heads. Not only is it more expensive, worse in terms of quality but also one of the least efficient systems in the world.

The USA is not a democracy either, The USA is a plutocracy. To explain, in a plutocracy the rich determine what happens in their country, they influence with their money the politics in their country, determine what is done and what is not only for their benefit.
Well, it's actually a democracy but a very flawed one, very close to a hibrid regime. It's much worse than in the EU, for example, where you have the most stable democracies in the World due to the Copenhagen Agreememt policies.

How you phrased it, "We're taught every country that went to war with us." That's some deep programming! Other than Japan bombing Pearl Harbor no country ever *went* to war with the USA, which I am sure you know, yet the idea has been put into your head with spin. Love from Canada.
Well, Nazi-Germany did declare War on USA so that can also be considered an attack. But apart from those two I think every other war US have been in they have either been the attacker or intervened to defend someone else (thus USA was not attacked).
Exactly that I was thinking and wondering, what country ever declared war on the US. It was always the other way around, with the one exception Japan of course.
"went to war with" doesn't have to mean "declared war on", since refusing to just lie down and surrender is another way to go to war. Not excusing military aggression or anything, but it takes two to tango.
Even Japan never ever want a war against US, the massive US-sanctions against Japan forced Japan to attack US...
@@matteloht Germany declared war in support of their Japanese allies on December 8, 1941.
(There was actually a bit of anxiety in Washington that Hitler might not do so, since the neutrality movement that sprang up after the revelations about the corruption around the US involvement in WW1 ["the Merchants of Death"] had hamstrung any thought of entering the European war without an attack.)

the worst part is that the "parasitical middleman industries" are influencing even the european goverments through founding of pseudo scientific organisations and that our polititions are partially stupid enough to spread that BS in TV and on social media 🤦♂
@@kustanhardelus6919 The UK Conservatives try to model themselves on the USA Republican Party. They were elected to take us out of the European Union which should be concluded soon. The British people have a reputation of not believing what any Politician says and our Constitution can force a General Election when there is cause to do so. The maximum period left before a new General Election is two years and it feels like this Government will not last that long. I think that the comparison I am trying to make is that we are sceptical about Politicians so when they are canvassing for our votes, they produce a mandate of Policies which we hold them to, and that is where their accountability to the Country lies.
The problem is, what happens when you don't believe the lies?

America is a continent, not a country. United States is the country. The people in this country are mostly mindless. If they have money they know very little and are incurious. This did hit us financially, but if we were in America I have no doubt we'd have lost our house.
I was diagnosed borderline diabetic myself at around 30, went to the hospital, got an IV, a bunch of blood tests, a blood monitor with a bunch of needles and strips, was briefly prescribed two daily pills, was enrolled in a week long educational class for diabetics, and for several years - until diet and exercise got it under control - went to a blood clinic every 6 months followed by an appointment with my GP to go over the results. Cost to me: about $20 - 30 for the blood monitor with needles and strips and another $15 - 20 for the two bottles of pills they prescribed.
During one of my follow ups with my GP he saw a red blotch on my back that he didn't like. He referred me to a specialist who scheduled an operation to slice it off, after which he gave me an ointment to apply to the area daily for a few weeks. Cost to me: $0.
America sounds like a nightmare. Like most I grew up on a lot of American TV and movies and such, but as I got older I could very clearly see that the reality didn't match the entertainment at all. Forget moving there, I'm hesitant to visit these days. It seems to be a third world country.
Its both funny and sad that you mention that prison life in the US is better for some people outside of it. From a (Western) European perspective the US prison system is cruel, torturous and has some slave labour. A good perspective on this can be the video "How Norway's Prisons Are Different From America's | NowThis" which shows the Norwegian prison system, radically different from the US variant. The video "Why The US Prison System Is The Worst In The Developed World" compared the Norwegian and Finnish prison system with the US one.
Yes it always made me smile at Norways since of humour in there prison system . You do your time at the weekends so you can carry on at work supporting your family and still paying tax to the goverment your prison time is the weekend Friday 1800 until Monday 0600 so you don't have free time over the weekend so no nights out on the town no drinking no fancy meals at restaurants no hopping on a plain to fly to another country for the weekend nope none of that not only is it smart you keep your job home and family and just so you don't feel like your getting away with it scot free you have that nagging feeling the goverment has still got one over you and that is your still paying tax and if your a high payed worker you pay for your stay in prison on the weekend
Also there is a huge "hidden" factor that is in plain view for the rest of the world. American prisons are for profit. And there are alot of private prison systems that get payed by the inmate. This gives an incentive for private prisons to cut costs. Costs on basic living neeeds where family members need to fill an account with money so the inmate can buy basic need (commissary account).
They can also cut costs on guards and rely on CCTV only with 1 guard in a crows nest that needs to call for backup if shit hits the fan en response times are low. Inmates need to fend for themselve and their own safety. Inmates with no gang affiliations come out of prison with gang affiliations for protection. Inmates going for short streteches of months end up with sentences of years for added time for just defending themselves.
All this because its an incentive for private prisons to create living standarts that will most likeley result in added prison time so inmates stay inside longer so they can make more profit per inmate.
And als said before. Profit of their forced labour for pennies on the dollar.
@@smilingshadow6639Scandinavia does more or less. Germany to a slightly lesser degree. France don’t. Neither has Great Britain.
Scandinavia are in the leading role here - and at the same time has the lowest crime rates in Europe.
@@kasperkjrsgaard1447 Netherlands, belgium and luxembourg have similar systems as Germany, and in the Netherlands a lot of people want to reform prisons to that of the scandinavian models as those are more effective than our own, but this has not been seen as a age pririty to do now as we do not hsve enough prisoners to keep prisons open anymore. A famous prison complex ' the noordsingel' in rotterdam is now a housing omplex, a former prison in Leeuwarden is now a hotel and so are more prisons converted to more useful facilities.
Well the "luxury" prisons in Norway is not for every convict. Just the worst offenders with longest sentences, and just for the final years. This is to "normalise" the person before letting them loose in society.
In most other countries, there is no limit on how many days sick you can take. If you are sick, you don't go to work until you get better.
I'm from the UK, for over 20 years I've been extremely ill due to a botched Gaul Bladder operation that went wrong (I've got extra bits in me,that caused the mess). So I've lost my business and had to move in with my mother. But the NHS has saved my life 5 times most recently a huge open Hart operation. I had a 5 month stay also 10 weeks with my Hart. I've had multiple procedures, scans and other stays. I had 6 weeks of being fed through a tube, the food cost £1,000 a bag/day. Its all been FREE I truly adore the NHS. THEY ALSO SAVED MY BROTHER in 1981 at 11 months old he got 48% full burns, he has 2 kids and is getting married, he's had 17 years of horrific operations including his scalp being expanded for a year, but thanks to the NHS his 3 years in hospital etc, has been FREE.
@@gabbymcclymont3563 sorry to break it to you but it's not "FREE" our Nat insurance pays for it🤦♂️ The NHS used to be amazing, unfortunately, it's now a money pit that wastes BILLIONS year after year and cares far to much about diversity quotas than actually trimming the fat and making it much more efficient🤷♂️
I'm glad I don't live in the states, I'll probably be bankrupt or dead by now. I had an bacterial infection causing extreme pain and paralysis at one side of my face.I was hospitalized for several weeks. I couldn't work for 3 months, but I still got my full wage paid by the employer and except my normal insurance costs, I didn't have to pay a cent extra.
And you still get payed when you are sick. Payed vacations, free healthcare. (well i got to pay $30 to see a doctor but then the rest is free)
In every sane country - going to work sick is grounds for you to get fired. Like what the **** are you thinking, you could get your coworkers sick as well...
I'm in Canada but we have family in the United States. Healthcare premiums in the US exceed my total yearly income taxes which include the funding of universal health care for all members of my family. The degree to which Americans are being screwed over by private health care is so extreme, if they only understood how bad it was there would be a revolution demanding change.
I had an elderly friend who went on a fishing holiday in BC. He had a heart attack, he said it was because of the size of the salmon, I think he saw Bigfoot, after being sorted in hospital, he asked about the bill and his insurance etc. He was told, don't be silly, this is Canada, go back to your fishing.

I came across an old recording of Nixon stating that there would not be any form of socialist program in "his America". Mind you this was before the Watergate scandal. And at that time of the cold war, America was deathly afraid of Russia. At the time referred to as United Soviet Socialist Republic, USSR for short. Hence the "socialism is communism" belief. Nixon also introduced Medicaid.
Thanks a lot for your reaction. It's refreshing to watch someone who can criticize her own country--not everyone is able to do that. Already subscribed and I'll watch more of what you have on your channel. Greetings from Canada & have a nice day.
You've heard so many negative things about the U.S. in the videos that you might need some variety. You wanted to know if Walmart has changed anything? The answer is no! Please take a look at this video - it shows how Walmart failed in a single country on this earth and made billions in losses. It shows how Germany showed this company what workers' rights and fair competition mean.
Why Walmart failed in Germany
Greetings from Germany,Kelsea
I can't tell you how proud it makes me as a descendant of German immigrants to see how things worked out for Walmart in Germany. Hopefully some day the American people will elevate their thinking in a similar way.
Walmart failed in the UK too presumably for the same reasons as in Germany - they couldn't legally exploit their employees.
@@dmwalker24
I see MacDonalds every corner i turn here in Germany and they are still considered exploitive, that means the mighty Walmart couldn’t even clear that low bar of paying the minimum wage ?.
@@atorthefightingeagle9813 It's not only that, the people themselves, the customers hated it. Even if Walmart would have had abide to german laws for some reason, they would have failed due to all the germans hating the us shopping habbits (fake smiles, following and talking to customers, smalltalk in general and people packing up your groceries for you - when we go grocery shopping here in Germany we don't do it for fun, we want it to be over as quickly as possible).
@@regularwarya McDonalds made the same move as BurgerKing (and some germany grocery chain stores like Edeka): Franchise. That means that they are actually run by german or at least european companies as franchise. Canadian that had a surprise heart condition. Ambulanced to the Hospital, in for Quadruple bypass surgery. 10 days later I'm recovering at home. Not a bill for any of it.. not $1 and I was paid 66% of my salary for 4 months from government unemployment insurance until I was able to return to work and didn't have to worry about losing my job because it's illegal to fire someone for a medical reason. It boggles my mind the added stress that is put upon US citizens. It was bad enough having to deal with the medical crisis alone but if I had to worry about the medical bills, how I was going to pay my rent and survive while I was off work and whether I would still have a job.. OMG I don't know if I would be alive today.
Your motivation to learn is admirable. It's great to watch you take this journey.

i think the base of the problem is the US campaign financing system and the voting system.
The first is practically legalized bribery and the second one forces you to always choose the lesser of two evils .
The funny thing is that it is the same money that supports both sides. They don't care if it's red or blue as long as they do what they're paid to do.
I think it only works for them because their education system keeps the masses ignorant and their news sources are all controlled by the same money that pays the politicians.
And then there's also the electoral college so a minority of voters in uneducated red states can chose the president.
Here in Italy we suffer greatly from corruption and political ineptitude, but even here, lobbying is rightfully illegal.
That's only partly true, cause there are other political parties in the US as well, but they don't actually matter, since those morons over there are so used to only have one choice, that they don't even consider those others and sure, most us-americans do not know that there are others as well.
Yes .they have tomuch power.

That part as someone who doesn't live in the US is one of the ones that boggled my mind the most for quite some time, the devotion to a piece of cloth and the militarism around it, last time someone had this attitude towards their flag, I believe we called them Nazis, but this one is "different" somehow...
I have never heard about all this before, I had no idea it was this bad on all these aspects. The only thing I heard was about the expensive healthcare insurances, yet I didn’t know the reason why, I just thought it was a different system and never informed myself further. It’s mind blowing.
By the way, I’d like to thank you for your videos! Thanks to you I am learning so many new things about the US. I love learning new stuff about different countries and cultures. :)

Hi there, Russia calling. Last year I found a strange tumor in my breast and went to ultrasound to check it. After several visits to my local doctor in the state hospital I belong to I was sent to the oncologic hospital to have a biopsy of the tumor. I was diagnosed with breast cancer so I was assigned to have several chemotherapy courses and surgery. Right after I learnt my diagnosis I left for sick leave and my employer paid me a quite good compensation. I was on sick leave for six months and I wasn`t fired. And I didn`t pay a rouble for consultations at any medical establishment I visited, not a single copeck for chemotherapy, mastectomy I had and for my stay in the oncologic hospital. Everything was covered by our NHS. All I paid for is public transport and suburban trains tickets when I was being tested in my native town and in the capital of my region. And I have nothing but only good memories about my chemotherapist, my surgeons and nurses who took care of me during that time. Now I`m being paid a disability pension from the state and I`m being taken care of by a special social service while I`m on my rehab. That`s it. I don`t even want to imagine if I could survive all this in the US.
Wishing you the best of health in the future.

The Walmart story blew my mind, I live in New Zealand. I get 15 days paid sick leave, can be increased at managers discretion. On top of that I can use my four weeks annual leave after that if needed. Even after that you have the option of unpaid sick leave. At no point would a company just fire their employees.
And if staff were having ongoing health issues the companies here would sit down with the individual to work out a plan to assist in recovery for example decreasing daily work hours or changing there role.

You say, you are taught the countries that went to war with the US, but it’s mostly the other way around. The support of Afghanistan freedom fighters that ultimately gave birth Al Quaida

2. Countless wars has been started by the US. Do i have to remind you about Vitenam or Afghanistan?
3. You state that european citizens don't trust Germany ("Germans have never had a good press all over Europe"), this is not true. As a european myself neither me or anyone i know are scared of or believe that Germany would do anything like what happened during WWII again.
as a Norwegian I am soo happy what we have!!!! I have 5 week paid vacation and healthcare is good!!!
And you don't have your politicians desperately trying to dismantle and plunder the state to be more like the USA, or to retry the fascist experiments from the last century, like us next door in Sweden - and don't even get me started in the UK, which I left to move to Sweden because it was becoming so greedy and uncaring, and which now is looking more and more like a failed state.
I spent more than a year living in the USA as well - a year that I both loved and hated. It bankrupted me (yes, due to health issues, but also due to the US banks main business model being theft), and I was living in an incredibly weird mix of decent hardworking people or fantastically creative people and straight up psychopaths, all stewing in a combination of interest and opinion on everything despite being ignorant about mostly everything, with hardly any actual rights or freedom beyond soundbites. That was 2 decades ago - now I see something that looks more like a slow-moving civil war.
The USA has huge potential, utterly betrayed by those who quote the enlightenment idealism of the (slave-owning) founding fathers every day, whilst managing in reality what looks more like a mediaeval peasant culture than anything else - corporate slavery/serfdom :(
Thank you for your rectification about America at the end 👍🏿
I suspect the biggest problem is that a very large percentage of the population live in a US, bubble. They hardly know other countries exist let alone what life is like for those in those countries.
The ignorance is what stops them realising how badly they are treated and demanding things improve.

Fun fact I learned a while back. If you're an US citizen, no matter where you live and how long you live there, you're required to file a tax report to the IRS every year
Yeah, been doing that since I became an expat. Though while I live a happy life, by American standards I make little enough that I occasionally get a refund.
Here in Germany, not married, I pay 23% taxes but it's all included. Health insurance, pension insurance and, unemployment insurance
This is so weird because if you meet an American they are so heartwarming. They will invite you in and share everything. But if their neighbor is having a hard time they dont lift a finger. It is a very weird mixture of being nice but yet refusing to help others.
They will help their neighbor... if they found their gofundme page...
I've lived in the same house for 9 years. Granted, I'm back in the woods. But I've met and spoke to a few of my neighbors ... like two times. No one even knows your name. Casual Norwegian here. the Glory days of the US is so far in to the past that theres little hope in getting it back to that state
I never understood why raising campaign money is necessary to win elections in the US. Alone the amount of lobbyists big companies employ for this is ridiculous.
In the USA, the main task of politicians seems to be fundraising.
In many other countries, the election campaigns are regulated by taxpayers' money. There is then only a short campaign period and not a regularly recurring cycle of election campaigns instead of making political decisions FOR the population.
Since 1977 in Québec Canada, lobbyists and any company aren't allowed to finance a political party. Just individual are allowed to send money up to 1000$, that's it.
People who make donations to political parties and then say they aren't doing it to try and influence policy. It's a bit like if someone sees you in a bar and offers to buy you a drink, they're not doing because they think you look thirsty.

Large Corporations will always exploit people as they are deeply rooted in self destructive capitalism. The real problem is the government. Like having limited sick days at all is illegal in a whole bunch of countries. Ofc you don't always get payed unlimited sick days but like you can't get fired for something you can't control.
No. Whilst I don't want to excuse any government in the slightest, there is nothing stopping large corporations, like Walmart, from acting ethically. It certainly isn't in the workforce's interest to excuse them. Like this poor lady found out the hard way.
During covid. One of the major college here in Norway warned students abroad, telling they should return home, especially if they were studying in countries with poorly developed helath care , and poprly developed collective infrastructure, for example the USA.🙈😂 they did not specify any other countries.
Reminds me of my body lotion that was made in Finland: there's a warning *for* *Americans* not to use it internally 😅
Oh I remember that one. I think one of the talk show hosts in the US talk about it and saying something like "Norway calls US as shithole country"
next Top 10 American Foods that are Banned in Other Countries by mojo or American Foods That Are Banned In Other Countries by Weird History Food or How The U.S. Ruined Bread by Johnny Harris ???
The chocolate video is really good too, can’t remember exactly what it’s called? Why European’s hate American chocolate? 🤔
@@katydaniels508 do you mean Why Europeans Hate the Taste of American Chocolate by Cheddar??
It's really nice to see more and more american reactions about comparisons between the economic giant that the U.S. is and the rest of the world.
The last 2 videos showed some important topics revolving around social and workers rights, but I can also suggest a great series of nicely subbed videos
on recent american history. I'd assume the topic is not really taught in depth, if at all, since it's a delicate one for the U.S., but i'd recommend checking out:
"Volker Pispers History of the USA and terrorism". A nice example of german political cabaret, putting the finger where it hurts.
So far enjoying the open minded approach to learning about the world, keep it going :)
In Bulgaria, we also have a fixed amount of sick days. You can't get more then 6 mouths of paid sick leave per year. But if you need they will give you more, but it's not going to be paid. Also only if you are sick for 3 or less days it's payed by the employer, after that is paid by the state.
I'm British and so proud of having a National Health Service to cater for the populations needs from cradle to grave.
pls check out:
"The German prison program that inspired Connecticut"
"Go Inside One Of The Most Humane Prisons In The World | Sunday TODAY"
When you treat people like animals, whether before or in prison, as is the case in the U.S., you don't have to be surprised if they act like animals when they get out of prison.
Just found your channel. May I recommend the British crusade against slavery. Most Americans think it was there a country that put a stop to slavery
Lol my housemate overheard you talking about claymation, he also hates it. Says it makes him feel sick haha
3:14 That look when you catched yourself yawning was priceless! 😅

evan edinger did 2 videos on the cost of groceries between the UK and the US - not good news for the US. Its worth a look
I really liked your intro comment: See, it's not a shame to be ignorant but's is not okay to refuse to broaden the mind. So, yes, it makes a lot of sense to me that doing reaction videos let you see America from a new perspective. Keep it going, Heidi. Greetings from Germany! (-- As a German, I skip the "hail" part ... 😉)
Hailheidi :D thank you for this :D
Why do Americans put up with this? As someone from the UK it baffles me. Tell your political leaders that Americans need universal health care than making another millionaire.
A number of very wealthy people spend a lot of money trying to make things stay this way.
Yeah, pretty powerful video, isn’t it? The more you learn - you say, and it’s true; you are learning more and more and that sets you apart from the rest.
Can you stay and live in the US? Yes, if you have money. That still does not solve the problem the country has but, you probably will be better off elsewhere. Anyway, I’m glad to see one more Americans getting educated and informed. Keep it up!
Kind regards from Sweden
When our son was born in California our Swedish Health Care covered the 3 days in the hospital plus we had 1 years
of of parent leave pay so we could be at home with our child, and we were not in Sweden!! nuff said. We also received “ Barn bedrag” Child support money every month until he was 18. It’s automatic and our taxes are at work and visible and actually working therefore we are very happy with our Swedish Tax System
In sweden I can be sick any amount of days that I need, if the employer notice an pattern in my sick leave they can require an note/documentation from my Dr
17:35 Now maybe that is the next video - "How Norway's Prisons Are Different From America's | NowThis". 😊 Thanks for another good upload!
Just a tip though, if you start speaking and then pause, click left arrow and rewind 5sec when starting the vid again. That way you make sure we know you didn't miss anything said. Keep up the good work! 👍
i live in sweden and ive been to the hospital twice this last month once with an ambulance i've had 2 mri's a couple of bloodtests and stayed there for a total of 4 days with food and everything i needed for those days, cost me like 20 bucks...
27 days paid holidays or more over here in the UK, my brother just moved back last month to the UK with his American partner and newborn son and she’s noticed a lot of things that just doesn’t happened in the US.
I'm from Norway and everybody here have the right by law for a place to live, if you are homeless it's by choice and not because you're forced to live outside. Not seen many homeless people tough in Norway.
They don't even have the most underrated freedom of all, the freedom not to have to drive a car (or ever worry about getting one) it's sooo good.
Indeed, there's some good channels comparing various aspects of traffic and transportation systems and all that of various countries. With a few rare exceptions here and there, the USA _again_ look horrible with their utter car dependency and how they've managed to make all the alternatives at best very inconvenient, at worst outright life threatening (such as using bicycles for commuting).
Hell, I live in a medium-sized town (~180.000 people) here in Germany, and I haven't owned a car in over two decades, and only needed a rented car every couple of years for special occasions. I even only very rarely use the bus or train, and the connections are pretty damn good here (though they could always be better... though we're definitely closer to Switzerland's level than the USA's... 😋)
That video should be shown in every school and TV station
hailheidi a wonderful name i watch your viedeos very often wunderbar they bring me in a good mood and you are funny
It's absolutely not complicated. It's the most straight-forward thing in the world, that no one in this country ever wants to talk about. What we do with Healthcare, and Pharma isn't dumb if you happen to be an executive for, or own stock in those companies. It makes them disgustingly wealthy, and it only requires the sacrifice of a few tens of thousands of lives a year to maintain. It also requires BOTH parties in government happily do the bidding of those corporations, but it turns out that's not too difficult to get them to do. Just a little petty bribery, and their priorities become everyone's priorities.
Oh, the thing you are talking about with the political parties would be the two party duopoly. The parties control the election process to such an extent that you will likely never get the chance to vote 3rd party, or if you do they'll lose, or even if they win you have a couple decent people in a legislative branch of 535 criminals. It's pointless.
I think the states are doomed and trapped in this cycle of pain. The lobbies are too strong, and the two-party system successfully keeps everything that could make a change happen away. The only way is a complete restart and for that, the system has to collapse completely.
i am from post soviet country, east europe ... tourists from USA were here, one of them got injured, he was administered to hospital ... and he was so afraid how much he would pay ... he nearly lost his conciousness when they told him NOTHING cause it was payed from healthcare program for tourists we have here, you know when you hurt yourself during your holiday here ... and when he went to drug store to buy aspirin and they told him it costs 3 EURO he really lost it ... :D never saw somebody in such disbelief in my life hehe
In Belgium, you have a set amount of sick days guaranted BY LAW (I think it's minimum 30 days) if you spend them all, you fall under the mutuality care (our health insurance system but it's paid by taxes and it's public service who is literally FORBIDDEN to make profit) who makes sure you get a revenu allowing you to live. Ho and they DON'T LOOSE THEIR RIGHT TO MEDICAL CARE. A medicine who's refunded or covered by mutuality is covered no matter who buy it ! Hospital don't even ask you to which one they need to send the bill (we have several with different management who can be more or less interesting depending if you are a salary worker or a freelance, etc) until AFTER the care has been given.
1119 for an MRI scan is pretty absurd. I got one when I was a teenager, after someone at a party persistently claimed that I had slammed my head against a bathroom sink. I didn't have any recollection of it, but I went to the hospital in Oslo, Norway anyway. The scan cost me about $50, and I thought that was a lot 😅 They didn't see any indications of blunt trauma, and I'm pretty sure the other guy was either really drunk, or just being an ahole 🤔
your reaction gives me hope that it is possible to achieve changes...when the ones now in power are composted. thanks heidi
Fun fact about a flag. Where I'm from, sweden, there used to be a law that said that a flag that touched the ground had to be burned so that no defiled flag would be rised.
Cant remember when this was exactly but around 2010-2014. There where protest against sweden in turkey. And the took the swedish flag, draged it in the mud and then burned it.
The law was removed 40-50 years before this but everyone that I talked to about this laughed and said something along the line of "if you try to offend another culture, read up so you know whats offensive".
I live in Sweden and am diabetic. Insulin, needles and even blood glucose meters are free.
We also have what we call high-cost protection, so you never pay more than SEK 2,600 (247 USD) for medicine or SEK 1,200 (115 USD) for doctor's visits / year.
