The point he made about communication is so on point. It's very disheartening that when you do try to communicate, in game or in hindsight, people will either assume you're mad or get mad themselves just because you ask a question or make a suggestion.
Usually what happens is that I win lane, then a pos 4 riki with 35 min battlefury first item will try to teach me how to play my hero, I will respectfully call your every slur in existence, if you don't know how to play your own role or hero, you do not give "advice" to others.
@@guiguito5505 but he doesn't know that he doesn't know how to play. your mistake here is to build your logic logic on your system of things believed to be truths, while the other person's system might be entirely different then yours. his beliefs might be the outcome of forgetting to prove some statements that he once took for fact, or other confusions of the complex thing called mind. you gotta realise, that just because someone contradicts you, doesn't mean they contradict themselves. thats what communication is all about. making you're both calling same things the same words.
My best time adapting: We had a QOP malding and being mad, starting at around minute 50. She would run down to the enemies, sell her items and feed her courier. I told the enemies she is running down the mid lane again and they could kill her. QOP indeed was running mid but our whole time stood ready in the forest. At the minute 60 mark we then surprised the enemy team and won 4v5. 2 enemy heroes were so greedy they bursted out their own (low CD) ultimates. It was the best feeling.
I'm having an identity crisis; been struggling with mine and would like a nail in the coffin with confidence of what heros I have on my grid and why. My previous criteria was "I should have a hero grid for all roles up to 4 heros per role that do different things." For the offlane, I have a Jump hero in CK, an area control + big team fight ultimate in Sand king, one man-fighter in LC and Axe as a second jump hero. In the carry role, I have PA as a jump hero, Luna as a big team fight ultimate, Troll as a man fight hero and Jug as a hero that has a big spell but is also useful outside of it's CD. Then my criteria changed to match my team's pace because I seemed to be consistently off pace compared to my teammates in solo que. If I found that they had big ultimates and I'm playing offlane, I'd pick Sand king just so our team fight pace matches up. Respectively, if they are fast paced heros like Huskar, Tiny, Bristle back, Orge and Drow, I could play PA and if we were already winning I would go Deso into BKB because my ultimate doesn't have a cool down and thus I could fight as often as the enemy respawns and only using BKB in an emergency. Now I'm getting enough game knowledge that the next criteria is to match critical mass with my team. Phantom Lancer is a lvl 25 hero needing many items and levels before hard committing to fights, where as Troll only needs level 20 with a battle fury/mjolnir, BKB, and one DPS item because at level 15 with both he still hits like wet paper regardless if you BKB+R at the beginning of a fight. PA can be as fast as a level 10 hero only needing the Dagger CD if their allies provide a silence and they have no dispell, but is usually a level 15 hero needing the extra evasion talent and BKB to pair it with. I would really appreciate it if you humor me by either commenting if this isn't something you'd pursue. Thanks again for the amazing content!
Wow, cool, man, you are going far. I don't have such criteriums, at least I don't contemplate much, I see picks and just think like hmm I'd like to play these few heroes here. And then if I've got enough time I start comparing what is better in this situation
"Why do you think I'm playing Dota? Because I don't have life. If you have life, don't play Dota, go have your life!" Bro sold me with this, right away.
Great video! I'm already doing all of these things, but it took me years to learn how to do them. Two things I would like to add: 1) you need to reach a level of skill and understanding where you know when you're doing the right things and when you're not. When you're not doing the right things during a game, it's easier to think about what you should have done instead after the game. 2) watching pro replays are great, but you need to become as competent as them if not more. it's similar to point #1. Basically, you need to understand why making certain choices '' on the fly '' is the best option for your hero in your situation. For example, if you're a pos 1 Bloodseeker and you're afk farming in your safe lane, that's good. But, you could contribute to the game and gain an extra edge by using the gate and gank the enemy safe lane with your Ult when it's convenient for you. It's all kinds of small things like that where you are conscious of what your hero can do and should do at a specific moment during the game to maximize your odds of winning. Even relatively planned stuff is also great of course. Lke taking the Lotus fruits or the Wisdom Runes when they first spawn or EVEN BETTER always buying a Smoke when buying a Blink as a offlaner to make a surprise gank on an enemy. These 2 concepts also apply to drafting. If you're competent, you know that in pubs, it's better to try to synergize with your teammates because you can ask your teammates what they're going to pick. You only see the opponents' picks after they're done. Also, it can be to pick heroes that opponents are unprepared for (heroes that can be pos 1 or 3 or pos 3 or 4 for example). That will confuse them and might give you an advantage.
at the end of the day if you dont enjoy the journey or the hardships of becoming better one day maybe you shouldnt be playing competitively , then winning becomes a plus and losing is unfortunate . there is nothing to blaim other than yourself or your mentality
Dota 2 actually did the opposite for me. It showed me that even the smallest change can make a huge difference wnd that you should never give up because it is only over when it's over. So thank you Dota for giving me the biggest lesson in life: Just is feels like the end doesn't mean it is.
It is really curious that this video just appeared in my UA-cam just a week after uninstalling Dota 2. I have been playing it non stop since 2021 (I started playing it on 2013, but only LAN parties or Bot Practice). I learned a lot these back few years and had a lot of fun. Furthermore, I had a winning streak a few weeks ago, and I was at 95% of reaching my next medal, but then started the losing streak (as usually when I get closer to the next medal). And I tried really hard to recover, but it just ended up losing a star in my current medal. And I felt really guilty with myself because I didn't use the Double MMR Tokens in all of my winning streak because I am terrible at betting, and instead of that I desperately ended up using some in my losing streak which helped me get even lower. I really love Dota, it is one of my Top 5 games, but I feel like I am the worst player right now and I am afraid of playing it again and just losing while having the most positive attitude and become crazy.
When I get toxic teammates and we lose, I try to be as nice and funny as possible to people in the next game, it helps me win and perform better. Sometimes teammates just throw a tantrum around 5 mins for some reason and it's really annoying to deal with.
After coming back to play the biggest problem I have is cheaters. I normally only play when it’s busier but if it’s slow and an event is happening you can almost guarantee boosters.
Nice video! It would be amazing that you could make a video about how does changing stats actually work. I don't really get the morphling change and the difference with the mordigan or whatever other stats changes occur. Thank u!
Great video as always. I quit Dota about 3 months ago because I was not enjoying games and getting worked up and angry if I lost. I eventually decided it wasn't worth playing if it wasn't enjoyable, and I only enjoyed the game if we won. I wonder what you and Dr. K would say in that situation? I do feel overall better since quitting but I also miss playing with my friends. If I was ever to go back I think something like this would be a necessity to help fix my mindset.
I know what you mean bro, ive been there. For me the trick was actually not thinking about winning first but actually having fun with the game and play a build i like. I actually win more by playing suboptimal builds/ offmeta heros than being a meta slave. Kia Ora bro. For what it's worth I understand where you're coming from. The dependence on the outcome of the game to dictate your emotional state is the thing that needs to be addressed as it will likely apply to other parts of your life as well. Failure is part of the human experience and should be embraced. Perfection is something to shoot for so long as you know it's unachievable. I find it helpful to remember that a realistic climbing winrate is a max 55% unless you're seriously uncalibrated in MMR. Instead of focussing on whether the game is won or lost: try changing your goal to self improvement. If you play core: set a net worth, CS and towers destroyed count for certain timestamps depending on the hero and easier/neutral/harder lane matchups. If you play support: set goals around how many camp spawns you prevent, how many power runes you secure (in the river AND wisdom) and how many kills/assists you can wrack up in a certain time period by playing across multiple lanes. Or anything else that is fun to you. That way, even in games where you lose: you can reflect on your independent goals and track your progress or if there were unforced errors you made that could be addressed. I for example have started trying to get as many courier kills as I can in every game. I play Bounty or MK support. My record is like 7 in 10 minutes. It's made the game infinitely more fun for me as I have to be hyper aware of the minimap while trying to also lane. The other downside is the enemy dropping every ult they can on me 40m into the game because they're all still mad about my early game sniping shenanigans. Even when I lose, I still have a great time because I'm pushing my limits on just how oppressive I can make my laning stage. Perhaps something to reflect on with your own journey

Did you not watch the replay? The result of the match does not matter. Did you go into the game with a "topic" that you want to improve and some ideas that came out of your preparation? Did you let the fact that there is an acc buyer influence your state of mind? It doesnt matter how bad the game is, you can always improve on not letting those things affect your emotional state. It doesn't matter how bad the game is, you can always pay attention to whatever it is you are learning currently. If worst come to worst you can always train your camera positioning, not even being chainkilled in the fountain can stop you from that.
i'm also a shadowpooler, so i get what you mean. but even shadowpoolers get a period where they don't have full account buyers in their team, so focus on improving yourself and make the best use of every game, because there's the opportunity to rank up. i once purposefully threw my games and rank down to 1k before, and came back recently and climbed back to 4k. you can def rank up too as a shadowpooler; you'll end up 1v9-ing a lot of games and they'll last 50-60 mins where you could've won in 20-30 mins, but what counts is that you win your games.
Neither the person who posted this video, nor the guy in the video ever played dota, it's almost adorable the takes these people have. Please, go to a pseudo science shitpost on 1x1 pvp games like tekken or something, please, it's embarassing.

i once purposefully threw my games and rank down to 1k before, and came back recently and climbed back to 4k. you can def rank up too as a shadowpooler; you'll end up 1v9-ing a lot of games and they'll last 50-60 mins where you could've won in 20-30 mins, but what counts is that you win your games.
i won't gain mmr becasue I play tarbo with my friends and my frined build force staff tu kill each other lol and we all have fun
Neither the person who posted this video, nor the guy in the video ever played dota, it's almost adorable the takes these people have.
Please, go to a pseudo science shitpost on 1x1 pvp games like tekken or something, please, it's embarassing.
No 1 need mmr
Its a game😂
Me get high number, me feel good
Ranked is a psychological trap designed by devs to keep their players engaged and keep them playing their game.
