Back in 2005, rarely had we seen a car arrive that dominated its class as comprehensively as the original '987' series Porsche Cayman. Before this purposeful coupe was launched, all sorts of manufacturers were making very good money with very mediocre offerings in the sports coupe segment. Afterwards, they either shaped up or shipped out. Tracking down a decent used Cayman can be a little more problematic than you'd at first think given the rate of take up. Buyers often aren't keen to sell and those that do often want silly money. Here's what to look out for.

Based on the puffy shirt, I strongly suspect this wasn't filmed in 2022, LOL. Thanks for uploading - always great to have more content on the car I love so much.
Time traveller from the mid 1980's Simple Minds etc. Must have got trapped in a time loop as he went round the same roundabout at least 4 times🤷♂🤷♂
Very good video, where was this filmed?
better than the newer models this has hydrolic steering and a manual handbrake ,i owned a 987 2.7 for 10 years never had a problem them bought a 981 2.7 was very disapointed ,lower 0-60 times unrefined electric hand brake was embarasing on hills ,just poor can understand why old porsches are better.
I'm thinking of going for a 987.2 2.9 after owning GT86 & brz. Can they be a bit clinical? My previous cars were very agile and moved around a bit which added to the fun..
@@patrickbateman7122The 2.9 is the pick of the bunch at a reasonable price and performance
@@patrickbateman7122the 987.2 is a different kettle of fish to the MX5 and Toyota GT /GR especially when you rev the engine above 4000 rpm.
Interesting that the 3 year depreciation is basically the same as 12 years, even ignoring the recent Covid bump. Might help me justify that 4.0 GTS
The Porsche 365 WAS NOT a Mid-Engine car? The 365 Proto #1 was in fact a mid-engine but there were what 3 made and hardly a base for Porsche to use for later versions 50 years later? I mean honestly. That is a reach is it not? I guess you forgot the Boxster was a Mid--Engine and had been around for 8 or 9 years before the Cayman?
That’s right about the 356, it’s such an unlikely story but true. I just traded in my 987 Boxster S for a 981 Spyder.
