Great tip bro thanks glad you still showing all your work helps me more than you know have a good one
I've commented before that I was talking to an old retired welder. Which is rare because welders that have been welding for decades don't seem to be around these days! 🤔 He told me as he got into he's 50's he's hands started to shake so he put an auro type flat style matchbox car under he's hand.
This made a huge difference keeping the weld straight, the right stand off , and smooth travel.
He also said he always used as much PPE as possible even back in the 70s.
Much to the amusement of what he called the cowboys welding with gloves and a mask!
Using the camera perspective for objective self evaluation and capturing the nuances, has now inspired me to try the same, for further self development.
Good stuff.
Thanks for sharing.
Awesome! This is exactly what I found to be a really helpful next part of my development in my career, let me know how it goes! Happy welding and have a great weekend!🙂
Right on, dude. The phones have great cameras on em already, nice and simple. Cannot argue with the results.
Heck yeah! Appreciate you watching!
Thanks for sharing these tips Dusty. That's a cool rig for using a cell phone to getting good footage on the cheep.
Super tip. I always have trouble making sure I'm doing what I should be doing and no way to see except in the results - and a crummy weld can have a bunch of different causes so it would become a trial & error process to try to zero in on what I was doing wrong. I'm building this tomorrow!
Thank you for your time.
Thanks!
As always, great information,thank you😀
I appreciate you checking this one out so much, this one was a lot of fun to make! Have a great weekend🙂🤙
Hey, since you had to re-do the welds so many times , you got a lot of practice and totally mastered it 😊
Pretty awesome work into getting that just so, to the benefit of us all!
Thank you so much for posting this. This is going to be very helpful for me.
Working in a shipyard one of the BEST pipe welders hands shook so bad I was sure he had parkinsons. It turns out the problem he had was with booze, but welds were perfect. Untill he offered the owner a beer at 9am coffee. gone....
Great info, thanks Dusty. Knowing how much my iPhone cost, and how rough-and-tumble a workshop can be for electronics covered in glass, I'm thinking, huh, I wonder if I still have my previous phone, and can use that for arc shots?
Yeah definitely, I actually used to have a devoted phone that I used, it was the last version of whatever it was I was using, always good to be careful to prevent dropping it! Thanks so much for checking the episode out, have a great weekend🙂
Amazing!:). Just sharing my first thought, for a DSLR/System/Video camera i think you could buy a Matte Box and make the weldingglass fit.
More ideas to try now! Thanks so much for watching!
Excellent video Dusty.
I really appreciate this my friend, thanks so much for checking this one out, have a great weekend!
Thanks for the very informative video, great idea on how to capture the welding!
thanks to you sir i learn a lot for your video now i always listen to your video. from philippines :)
Love your videos tig welding been welding since Highschool 🤘 was welder in the Marines , for a manufacturing company making planter bars for John deer and now working for a class one RR as a thermite fomen for track maintenance . Keep up the videos man been here since you ordered the everlast 210 back in the day Im looking at getting a Primeweld 225 maybe if the budget can handle a 325 it's not a everlast but I've seen good things about these ones keep it up bro hopefully soon I'll be dipping my toes back into tig welding soon rock on man 🤟🔥🤟🔥🤟🔥🤘🤘🤘🤙🤙🤙
What a cool message! I really appreciate you sending this through, and that's awesome you are looking at a machine! This is one bad ass move that gives you some serious freedom with taking on work, doing whatever you want, congrats if you pull the trigger on a new machine!
I also genuinely appreciate you following along with my videos, I'm really happy I saw your message 🙂🤙
I've had the PrimeWeld 225 for a couple years now & love it. Also bought their Cut60 plasma cutter. Their customer service & warranty is second to none--great guys there in New Jersey, always super helpful!
Terrific idea!
Great tip!
I appreciate you watching so much!
great - simply great !
Awesome tip bro thanks for that ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I appreciate you checking this one out so much, good luck filming and happy welding!
Always follows your tips and tricks really works on me ❤
*6:00** Anyone else lol that a welder made a phone holder out of a 2x4?*
I mean... dude... lol
so lense and you put it between the phone and phone case in front of the camera lenses, maybe tape up the borders so no light leaks in to ruin the shot. More firm setup. How i can prevent my hand from shaking? My hands dont normaly shake but when i focus really hard on thing i do my hands start to shake, it doesnt matter how i position my shelf, maybe i need to smoke to calm down before welding but thats really hard and bad to do on the job
Haha might work! Don't get in trouble!😂🤙 thx for watching!
And people wonder why I use a gold fixed shade 11 in my Jackson hood. Well try the gold lens. It will give you way more clarity.
Very cool! Thank you for sharing! Speaking of lens shades, Dusty do you have any tips on setting your helmet shade for TIG?
Merci pour les infos 🧑🏭
Im sure you had phone problems so ill rather just start with a camera what can zoom more and be more away rather , but doing this you learn more thru watching what mistakes you do let you can train to correct them im from SA i wish my college will sponsor us with a good camera to do the same
Great video. I might actually now have a use for the lens of useless glasses that came with Chinese plasma cutter. I already have a stand for my iPad so I might try similar set up using that.
Also as a new welder my two main issues are keeping a steady hand and seeing what I am doing. I am going to purchase a computer arm rest from e-bay to try(it is cheap) and a helmet light.
You can cut the glass smaller to make a "lens" for your phone... and then just use any of those bendy arm phone holders
The glass also shields your phone from heat.
Hey Dusty, you can get rid of that green cast in the video by using
a gold plated plastic lens.....they do not cost much more.....and will
give a truer color.....yes, plastic, if you use the gold-plated glass,
they still have a green cast to them.....
one reason not to use an auto darkening lens, is they have 7 or more
layers of glass in them, or 14 or more reflective surfaces, which degrade
the image due to reflections.....this is a great video you have done,,,,,
I hope all your viewers make a reg like yours.......
when I shoot with a camera, I use a variable neutral density filter
over the lens, it is basically 2 polarizers that when turned will vary the.
amount of light, up to about 99% removal.....they are more expensive than
a welding lens, but give very true color....and you can see thing in the
video that your eye will not see.......I hope this helps, Paul down in Florida..
here is a short example of what I am getting.......ua-cam.com/video/34--U3e78Zw/v-deo.html
Lol golf is goofy enough by itself
So exceptional... 😊
I like to film myself when I weld and this gave me an idea
This is excellent, but I do have a mirrorless camera. I was wondering what kind of filter you use for that. I'm guessing something like a 10-16 stop solar filter? Cause that was what I was looking at.
Great video!
Thanks so much for checking it out my friend! Hope you are well and have a great weekend!🙂
On your dslr camera. What track system are you using?
Maybe next you can get rid of the greenish tinge in your welding sequences by using your fancy camera's white balance settings.
Maybe- Great idea
nice bro i'l try this!
Awesome! Let me know how it goes, happy welding and have a great great weekend!
Merci Dusty
Absolutely my friend! Thank you for watching🙂🤙
For my Hood I can only look thru a 13 shade lense, my eyes just can’t deal with a 11 which makes my eyes hurt.
Love me some Dusty trainings
Super duper ❤❤
If you really want to learn something, teach it!
Absolutely! Chapter 2 of my career started when I began to teach and instruct, and it's absolutely been the chapter of my career where I have learned the most about the trade I love so much. Thanks so much for watching!🙂
Just introducing the tool, nothing more😂
So you're saying we need a orange mallet. Say no more.
I don't have bad habits. My whole routine is bad.
Dusty…. You messed up man. I’ll fix it for you: “Go out and do a good deed for a random person today.”
Haha! I love it! You guys all have my back, hope everything is going well with you and thanks for checking this episode out!🙂🔥
@@PacificArcTigWeldingLove all your stuff my dude, but it’s truly your attitude towards life, mistakes, and people that makes you rad my man. If you had nothing and no skills… you’d still be a rad human. 😎🤙🏻
Stay safe, healthy, and positive! And if you can…. Please do a good deed for a random stranger today. 😝
Just be careful ac frequency is really bad for the phones electronics
Hey I'm currently learning welding and I want to start recording it so I can see where I'm going wrong, and just to have it recorded. Is this really harmful for modern phones, and is there any way I can record mig without fucking up my phone with spatter?
