    I’m a beginner and i tried this board out. 5’7 with quad fins. Was flying and went so low i could touch the water on an extremely small wave. Loved it so much and am in the market!

    Ive always had this board in my quiver and everytime i surfed it. It always reminded me why I loved this board. Bought another one just in case the old one snaps. Ive gone tube on beachies that impossible to make it and its just addictive how this board gives you speed. Fastest board in my quiver.

    Bought a 2nd hand yellow one, keen to try it. Thanks for the review, psyched on the idea of the water flowing under it and that it goes fast! I like that you're sending the trolls surfing, it'll be good for them!

      no worries mate, sounds good! i'd be very surprised if you didn't enjoy the board (as long as it's around your preferred volume/size). i hope you love yours as much as i love mine, and PS- yes i think i good surf would straighten nearly any negative troll out there. cheers- KS

    I've had one for a year or so and love it (San Diego) I ride it as a quad and it's so fast, it almost makes me laugh out loud. It's like jumping on a wild Weasel and takes me to new levels as it rolls it's eyes up at me and says, Is that all you got"? Love this board!

    i love my evo ... one big note!!!! most important note ,EVO doesnt like to be oversize never ever oversize EVO oversize EVO doesn t turn that well its stiff ,channels and wide outline works agains you and its too fast way too fast , always go for lowest volume you can ride, if you need real groveler board look for something different like like twice baked ... get evo as small as you dear and you gonna have super fun , i like it as quad in small slow waves

      spot on comment. I started on a 5 11 evo (41.3 ish) and went up to a 6 foot (44.2l) and then a 6 2 (46.5l). I caught more waves on the 5 11 then i did on the larger ones. The larger ones push water and do not paddle well. eventually sold mine as although i loved the tomo boards my wave count wasn't great due to the lack of length. Still own a cymatic which i love in better waves. I am 6 foot and 96-100kg with full 5mm wetsuit, gloves, booties and hood (UK based)

      @@Surfandmusicequipmentreviews 100% agree and poeple do mistake with tomo boards , tomo surfboards have channels and wider outlines they dont work very well when you oversize them , i start with 6.2 evo (i was 108kg) and im on 5.10 ,(i m 190cm and 93kg ) and i mostly surf in thick wetsuit too, i can go even lower to 5.9 if i want and propably my next evo will be 5.9 , my hydroshort is 6 .2 38L and its paddle even better then Evo and catch waves easy and turn like dime , longer rail and more narrower tail , i surf mainly in UK , weak small waves not that much punch in waves only in winter , for hollow punchy fast waves i will get even smaller volume board , i really like tomos design they are very good option for average surfers

      yes mate good point! it would be easy to go oversize on these (this one's 5'7" and after riding i could go even smaller i reckon). must be due to the unique shape and volume hidden well in the design. the way it displaces water could also add to this feeling. it even paddles like a much larger board ! thanks for the positive input that will benefit others. cheers -KS

      @@littlerubster I just got a brand new 5'4 Evo with a red spray on sale $350 off stoked looks sick. I've been riding a Slater designs FRK ibolic that goes absolutely epic best performance I've ever ridden, so FRK and Evo is my 2 board quiver.

    Hey mate, great video. How's this go in average beach break conditions from waist to head. I've got a local break with fast breaking steep waves but under head high...sometimes fat but not that often. I see its great for mushier waves...any info would be great mate, keep up the good work.

    • @kookshed
      @kookshed  3 роки тому

      hi mate, it goes well in most conditions from 1-6ft really. yes it loves open faces for big turns BUT smaller, fast/hollow waves are not a problem for it at all, especially setup as a quad! hope this helps. cheers- KS

      Hey mate, sorry just one more.....what weight are you on that 5'7 EVO....I don't want to oversize this beauty as I heard its works better just slightly undersized if you want a daily driver type board, I'm 86 KG post lockdown, avg intermediate, so looking at the 5'8 as with the extra 5% or so epoxy float that'll hit around my PU boards at 37 litres ish....word on the street is if you oversize, you push water paddling, plus less responsive etc etc.

      @@Jon-zr3xq no worries mate, i'm around 80kg but i reckon i could've gone shorter for sure. they do paddle into waves like they have more volume so keep that in mind! hope this helps -KS

    This board is always quick way too quick you dont even have to pump , no you only have to thing how im gonna slow this thing lol. the only issue is in wave that push you get catapulted. it's not as versatile as the puddle jumper, but i think it's grovel better in small wave.
    Quad is the way to go for me too, but i wonder if thruster will tone down the board and allow for a bigger range of wave.
    I sold this one few year ago and i regreat it...

    • @kookshed
      @kookshed  3 роки тому +1

      yes super fast for sure, i've been trying the thruster setup to see if it assists in tighter turns and keeping it "toned down" but it just loves the quad and wants to run! fascinating board -KS

    How does one of these compare to the sci fi, which has the similar bottom contours but a more traditional shortboard shape?
