Thank you for your efforts to keep this music alive after so many years. I remember my years composing for Sierra fondly and I am thrilled that folks are still enjoying the creativity and craftsmanship that came from that era. Keep up the good work! -Aubrey Hodges
oh man.. beautiful nostalgia. Brings me back to the good old days of point and click adventures. listening to this i just had flashbacks of all the Quest for Glory, Kings Quest, and Space Quest series
This is absolutely beautiful. The series was full of stunning music, it's a real shame that there are not many Quest for Glory remixes on the internet.
I've been listening to this for an hour in repeat since I found it, it really takes me back to the time I was 8 years old, barely knew any english and still had a blast trying out simple keywords I learned on the go as I was playing. A few months ago I was asked what my favorite game was, I couldn't really think up an answer since there's been so many amazing games during the years. Now I'm reminded of the series I used to play through several times a year, QFG is my favorite game of all time!
I was feeling so horrible today. Today, I found out my first love has terminal cancer... RUST. My car is ****ed and will die. As a car guy, it's extremely saddening. But when I saw this track via OCR's twitter, I was hoping for something befitting of how I'm feeling right now and... I feel a bit cleansed and relieved after hearing this. Thanks for uploading.
Nice remix, man. For some reason, the guitars remind me alot of the Katawa Shoujo song Daylight. Maybe that's just me. Speaking of which, OCR is in serious need of KS remixes. Thumbs up if you think so too!
Aubrey Hodges is probably better known for scoring the Doom games, but I loved his music for Shadows of Darkness - at times whimsical, poignant, melancholy and even epic. I've had the game's soundtrack on my music players and computers for years and years. I especially like the tune that plays in the Guild Hall, and in Dr. Cranium's Laboratory.
@Numberplay Actually if you look at all my comments in many of the latest OC Remixes, you'll hear me complaining about how most of the remixes don't sound enough like the original. I think it's very important for remixes to be remixes, not complete "originals" with an old song name slapped into the title for more publicity. However, since I don't know this game or song, I can't judge it based on that, only by how it sounds. And this sounds like a good song.
@XSora96 All samples, and free ones at that. I'm using a combination of the free NS Kit 7 and Ellade drums sound fonts combined with samples and percussion loops from the Independence Free library.
@genesisSOC "I think it's very important for remixes to be remixes, not complete "originals" with an old song name slapped into the title for more publicity." We don't do this anyway, despite what some people claim. :-P
@Numberplay - Uhhh, not everyone has played every game. There are bound to be titles out there you don't know anything about as well. Just because you don't know the origins, doesn't mean you can't appreciate the work that went into a song.
@asthecryflows Damn, sir, I approve of this remix utterly. The QfG series really had some good soundtracks and could have done with some more remixing love.
@LiontamerVGF I disagree. When I click on an OC Remix, I want the original to be very clear and easy to distinguish in the song. I don't want to have to work and try to search for it, and I don't want to hear 5 minutes of "nothing like the original" within the song and only two seconds of the original in it. I'm here for remixes, not artists' own work.
Nevertheless, if it's not clearly identifiable to you (which should happen at least a third of the time; nobody's played this many games), you can't really care about its origins. In that sense, I guess you're listening to remixes of songs if they're from a game you know, and songs that could just be originals if they're remixes of games you don't know? Since you can appreciate these songs that might as well be originals anyways, I suppose it doesn't hurt to hear an 'original' once in a while.
@genesisSOC It doesn't matter whether it's identifiable to you or not, the original music is definitely used substantially in EVERY OC ReMix, otherwise it would not be approved. Wanting an arrangement to be melodically conservative is not the same as what you're claiming, which is mostly doing original music with small hints of VGM and trying to pass those off as VGM arrangements. OC ReMix doesn't do that.

It's so cool that Aubrey actually commented on this track

Memories just came flooding back. I can swear it's the early 90s when I close my eyes.
Beautiful remix! I still remember Erana's Peace from the original game very fondly.

Love the music, really brings back memories of my childhood playing Hero's Quest :)
Just finished all the Quest For Glory games in 2024!

OC Remix of Quest for Glory.
Insta-fave.

I don't know this game or song, but this remix is really good.
Beautifully done.
Never heard the original before, but I'm really liking this one.
@genesisSOC Glad you like it. I haven't played the game either...

Where can I find the stables medley over & over without me having to hit repeat? 😁

Wow this is gorgeous. O.O
Can you guys do a remix of the MONSTER HUNTER theme? It would be awesome if you guys can pull it off. Great remix by the way!
@asthecryflows Damn, sir, I approve of this remix utterly. The QfG series really had some good soundtracks and could have done with some more remixing love.
Epic.
Awesome drums man, have you recorded them or you used sampled sounds?
No idea what game this, but love the music all the same
That is, as long as most songs on OCRemix /are/ clearly identifiable. And they are, so isn't this a non-issue? :P

Isn't the original song's actual name "Erana's Peace"?
The original name is "The Magic Meadow". Here's Mark's original sheet music: www.markseibert.com/Magic%20Meadow.pdf.
Guys!!! I meant the opposite of what you all though. I'm also in this group. I just didn't use the good words.
@Numberplay
not such a terrible thing i think. good music is good music

@genesisSOC Another people that listen to the music from OCRemix without a care about its origins.
@Numberplay this is a horrible example of people that listen to these mixes
