After Effects automation with the CompsFromSpreadheet script

This tutorial shows how to automatically make versions of your after effects compositions using the compsFromSpreadsheet script for After Effects.

This is a useful tool. Great job! Im just wondering if i can make a template using this script that will follow the animation, layer style, color and font that i will set then all text in the spreadsheet will follow in a different composition? Thank you!

I'm trying to source different company logos that will go into their respective video and they vary in width and height. Is there an expression that will be able to determine if the image is horizontally oriented or vertically oriented and then take the longest side and scale proportionately to fit the allowed area for the logo? I hope that makes sense.

is it anyway I can just update my excel sheet, and then just update all comps?
Im making a top 10 table list in football, so its difficult to set the table again and again everytime I'm doing a update

Can you pull a column from the spreadsheet to have your comp named that? For instance, I currently make bible verse slides. I would like the comp name that is being created to be the verse reference. eg. Matthew 7:25. Is that possible with this script, or will it just increment the Comp name, Comp 2, Comp 3, etc.

Hi Ryan, you can definitely do this. When you run the script and feed it your text file, the field init window pops up. Look for the section "New composition name" which defaults to line number. Set it to the column in your spreadsheet that holds the comp names.
In that window is a section

@@mcardeiro Looks like I keep getting an error. "You Need To select a field with the template name" I have two fields, and they have the Carrot symbol in front like they are supposed to

The script just stopped importing files. Text works fine, but media wont import

Update: You cant have the Precomp the same name as the Media being replaced. it all makes sense now
