This is a shot used in "All or Nothing" The shot selected wasn't going to work because the time and the scores in the scoreboard didn't match where it was used in the sequence. I needed to change the time and scores so that it worked in the edit.

Michael, is it possible to feed a DROPDOWN MENU expression in after effects using compsforspreadsheet?
got it? make a textlayer, use 'parseInt(thisComp.layer("2").text.sourceText)' to convert the Number you type into integer number that controls the Dropdown menu?
The script just stopped importing files. Text works fine, but media wont import
Update: You cant have the Precomp the same name as the Media being replaced. it all makes sense now

I'm trying to source different company logos that will go into their respective video and they vary in width and height. Is there an expression that will be able to determine if the image is horizontally oriented or vertically oriented and then take the longest side and scale proportionately to fit the allowed area for the logo? I hope that makes sense.

Can you pull a column from the spreadsheet to have your comp named that? For instance, I currently make bible verse slides. I would like the comp name that is being created to be the verse reference. eg. Matthew 7:25. Is that possible with this script, or will it just increment the Comp name, Comp 2, Comp 3, etc.
Hi Ryan, you can definitely do this. When you run the script and feed it your text file, the field init window pops up. Look for the section "New composition name" which defaults to line number. Set it to the column in your spreadsheet that holds the comp names. In that window is a section

Is there a way to add multiple spreadsheet to a project.I am working for an insurance bill add and they have multiple spreadsheet data.Can i attach all of that to a single project.
Personally I would look at google sheets and convert your spreadsheets into those. Once there (even separate) you can use the query and importrange features to consolidate your content into 1 spreadsheet. output it into tab delimited and you're fine. let me know if you need more info

Would be great if it stayed live and would update as you made changes to the spread sheet or was able to detect doubles and just not apply the ones that are already done, or maybe a column that you an use to tell it to skip that row. .
Also another issue I come across is that if a column in one of the rows is blank it cancels the whole process rather then just skipping that one row or ignoring that bit of information if it needs to be blank,
Great script a few things I think could be added such as Prefix and Suffix option for comp names rather than just numbers. so you can keep the comps name and just add a title to the end of the name. Also an option to have media automatically fit to height or width when replaced if possible in case you are importing 720p footage into 1080p comps.
Hey Denzyl, You cant do this directly in the script. You can however add an expression to the scale property of the layer you are going to replace. heres the expression var mult; layer = this.source; w = layer.width; h = layer.height; cheight = thisComp.height; cwidth = thisComp.width; if(w<h){ mult = (cwidth/w)*100; }else{ mult = (cheight/h)*100; } [mult,mult,mult];

This is a useful tool. Great job! Im just wondering if i can make a template using this script that will follow the animation, layer style, color and font that i will set then all text in the spreadsheet will follow in a different composition? Thank you!
How did you get started learning how to design for commercials? I'm trying to get into advertisements, but, it's a very unique field of work. It looks like everyone does all of their own work for commercials. If it's not a bother, I have a lot of questions.
