I think saying Chance’s career was ruined because he dropped a bad album is rewriting history. Chance’s career was ruined because the persona he built came crashing down. Yes he dropped a bad album n everyone clown him for it cuz it was corny. But you can escape corny allegations. The album didn’t ruin him. 2 things led to his fall off. 1. The spectacular falling out he had with his manager and long time friend. N 2. The negative interactions he proceeded to have with both his fans and detractors online. The manager thing led to the cracking of that Boy Scout persona cracking and then how awful he was acting to not only haters but his own fans online was the final nail in the coffin. That’s why ppl stopped fucking with Chance.
Chance's recent music has consistently been heat too, he's definitely still capable and deserves another big moment
It wasn’t just the reception of the album, it was the toxic way he responded to his fans and the lack of humility to receive any kind of constructive feedback.
I love chance, and I could dismiss a bad album, I was more turned off by how he reacted in a:
Stfu kind of way.
That said, I do feel he’s probably grown a LOT and have a hunch he’s coming back with some 🔥

I liked 10 day and acid rap a lot. Coloring book was when he won all the Grammys but the conversation wasn’t so positive, at least the people I was around. so big day seemed more like a consistent decline more than an outlier.

Chance career didnt go down the drain exclusively due to a “bad” album. Main man was too successful as an independent artist and consistently opposed the industry/machine. Once he slipped up, the big day era, the media made sure from that point moving forward, you heard nothing positive about him
His online presence was also quite unbearable
People who weren't fans of him in the first place hopped on the bandwagon and made his "fall off" look so much worse. Fans don't leave after 1 bad project. Those are groupies looking for the latest trend.
I just don’t see Chance makin’ a comeback during this age. If rappers like Cordae & Reason aren’t doin’ the best rn, it’s kind of safe to say Chance wouldn’t either. Chance’s sound doesn’t translate to these new raps fans, it’s best if he sticks to what he knows best and tries to get his core fanbase back instead of trying to bring in the new kids. With all these kids loving rage and computer noises, a gospel inspired album is probably the last thing they want to hear rn
