I love your videos... so informative. I have a greenhouse and I am just leaving mine in their pots to go dormant. I am really glad you are teaching people not to cut off the green leaves, but to let the bulbs absorb the moisture and nutrients as the leaves dry. My question is... if I have small bulbs that I know will not flower the next year, can I be more gentle with the dormancy and just cut back on watering but not worry about all the leaves dying down? I am trying that this year with a few small ones to see what happens.
Nice! Let me know how it goes. I put my small bulbs in dormancy along with ones that have previously flowered. Then just potted up the baby amaryllis with the larger ones of the same variety.
I have a small Amaryllis kit that I set to growing in a south window in May. Long story short - it's got 5 leaves and one of them is 4 feet tall and almost 2 inches across. Healthy and green. How can I put this thing in to dormancy. It's been storing food like a boss all summer and would probably grow another month or two in this spot. Can I keep it growing or put it in to dormancy?
Can't wait to see them bloom! 🤩
So exciting!
Remember the amaryllis i told you about that I left/ neglected in the windowsill? A green shoot is popping up. Crazy
That’s great!

How do you put them into dormancy? Because every time I take mine out the leaves grow but they never bloom.
