Ha! I had a feeling. Wren's mentioned Poliigon in the past... No need to wonder anymore. (Not that I spend an inordinate amount of time thinking about these things...)
why buy it? you can make that yourself in photoshop if you know how to work with it. Patterns, effects like multiply etc etc.... Not that hard and 450 man hours hahahha, well that's too much. More like in 2 hours you have already a road with bumbs, scratches and what not. 450 sounds in my eyes a bit too much tho. Even for a guy that already know 3D. I do 3D from 2007, i did Maya, XSI, and then i switched to Blender. But if you cant do it. then this maybe come in handy. Depends.
I love the way you are selling your products, very different than the others. They just show you the products and the price, but you are telling a magnific story about how you created this materials and why are better than the others. You have my #respect and, when i'll have the money, my subscription.
It always happens that transparency is the best selling point to get people to like you and understand your proposals. Same thing with Star Citizen, Tesla, etc
Thanks for the hard work man. I am new to Unity 3D and I understand how difficult it is to make realistic 3D models and maps. Tried it myself several times and it took me weeks to make the bone-hierarchy of characters match correctly. Good work. Honestly appreciate the effort.
Everytime I post-product my renderings with textures, I wonder, that there are people in the world who roam around the towns days and nights, making high-resolution pictures of grass/pavements/roads/sand/etc, and clip them in textures afterwards for us, visualizers. God bless you guys, you are doing an extremely valuable job.
Why is it difficult to make realistic roads in CG, in Europe? Because you have to make them yourself, as all commercial textures packs are for USA roads!
What sort of roads are you looking for? Unless I'm mistaken, aren't they fairly similar to US roads? Unless you mean cobblestone roads? That could be achieved by using our cobblestone textures & road lines as an overlay.
most of the time the yellow markings are only used for roadworks and not for regular roads. most regular road markings in europe are white and that is a problem i encountered while looking for (free) textures aswell. not sure if your library has them though as i am just casually watching your videos and am not subscibed to your services on poliigon!
"We also discovered that roads age rather predictably... they start out brand new and gather cracks, repairs, and patches the more they age." Who'd have thought. What a discovery! That must have been some eureka moment! O,o
was about to subscribe to VRAYSCANS, now i'm on trial of Poliigon. So far very impressive. Will be subscribing in the future in hope more content being made. Keep up the good work man!
Thanks! And honestly, most artists shouldn't waste time making their own textures. It can feel good to say you made absolutely everything, but the time tradeoff is huge and nowadays nobody expects you to source your own textures. And if you join a studio you'll be expected to use a texture service, as making them from scratch is just too expensive. So yeah, use your time valuably and focus on your art :)
Poliigon Exactly :) Haha thanks! I will. Just don't have the money for a subscription right now, but i'll get poliigon soon ;) and yes, i actually can't spare those 17 $ right now :S but i will soon ^^
I'm not a 3D artist and I'm not planing to become one. But it's still very enjoyable to watch and learn what problems a 3D artist has to face and what they can do to solve it. It let's me appreciate cg much more.

coool! but at 2.23 you can spot banding. I think you are working at 8bit with the heightmap. in substance designer it happens sometimes especially when you have some uniform color node that is at 8bit by default.

Do u have a tutorial in 3ds max adding texture to a curve road and applying road symbols / markings
i trust andrew in picking the perfect textures
I just watched a 3 minute ad without realizing it
hahahahahah me too
Same, although it is somewhat neat to see texturing techniques
I get you later lol😂
Ye but it was a good ad
Same lol
Finally, the used gum textures I've been begging for :P
haha. Not sure if that's a joke or not, but no city sidewalk would be complete without it!
except Singapore where gum is banned :)
gum is banned in singapore?
since 2004, exception is nicotine gum and dental gum
"Fully Damaged" looks better than common roads in Russia
Lol
And India
I don't even do 3D what am I doing here
B3cause you know it's where the money at.

THANK YOU POLIIGON FOR GOING FAR AND BEYOND FOR US ARTISTS!! 🥳
Great work folks. I don't know the first thing about 3D rendering, and I still watch your videos just because they're so interesting.

What sort of roads are you looking for? Unless I'm mistaken, aren't they fairly similar to US roads? Unless you mean cobblestone roads? That could be achieved by using our cobblestone textures & road lines as an overlay.

because you use wrong textures.. you don't need used street textures. just good high quality street pics.
Make them yourself and sell them to poliigon ;)
Thanks for offering this service. You a really helping all of us out there a lot!
Thank you Poliigon, for your high res textures, they helped me a lot on my latest project.
It just keeps getting better and better.
