Cheers for the simple, matter-of-fact explaination of the reason to 'glide comp. tubes (pistons too) Geoff : - Sadly, my 4 x Weihrauch's are still running as standard, metal to metal..... aside from delrin guide kits + other tweaks, de-burring, upgraded spring + piston seal, trigger unit/sear and pin polish etc. etc. If I had a lathe - that I can operate - they'd have been done years ago..... But I'm a Northern skinflint who a) has no room for even a hobby lathe, and b) I'm too tight to get them professionally tuned by a high-end fettler like youself. Finally, on the workshop temperature front : - I hope you're referring to 14.2 degrees F?. 'Cus, 14.2 degrees C is to me - pretty comfortable (my house is currently 12 degrees C, and seems fine, albeit with 2 fleeces on!)..... I though you were/are a hardcase biker??. *Only Joking Of Course*, and, I would be wary of saying that to your face (I don't fancy having mine rebuilt !). Spring is now close around the corner biking-wise = warmer/drier tarmac imminent, and, longer days : Thank Feck!. Hi Geoff!! How do you attach the delren bands on the compression tube? Did you also machine a slot in the compression tube for them to set in, or are they just pressed fit and then machined down? Keith
Nice explanation, much better than so much metal to metal contact.
