  • Assembling the bottom end of my 1956 Ariel Square Four MKII. Finally seeing some forward progress. Also seeing the usual raft of issues and roadblocks to overcome which is to be expected.

You would not believe how helpful these videos are for me. Thanks, from a novice that has bitten off way more than he can chew....but is chewing like hell.

As a former manager used to say to me: "How do you eat an elephant? One bit at a time". Good luck and keep chewing!

A golden piece of British motorcycle engineering. Complicated until you reach the stage of going out with the race horse. Happy days ahead!

UNEF 20 tpi by 3/4.... really? Why would a design engineer introduce that? Life’s not interesting enough, I’ll just put this really obscure threaded nut on the end of these timing gears. A this point I would like to hear his reasoning for the little monkey in the works. I’m impressed that you identified and resolved the problem so quickly, well done. I now have another snippet of knowledge should that ever be introduced in an engine I’m working on or should I ever be lucky enough to acquire an Ariel square 4. Got to now wonder is that nut on all engines from 53 to 59? Good video, thanks.

Don't quote me on this, but from memory ( about 35 years ago !) some Triumph twin sludge trap plugs use a UNEF threadform........

Been to NZ so I know that a litter box has nothing to do with cat toilets. Love the video but I would be scared at every stage if I was doing it... That's coz I have zero training and I am an ignorant interested amateur trial and error wallah...
