The island's center comes alive, especially in the evenings. You can enjoy pleasant walks through its narrow streets or along the harbor promenade, where you can savor a variety of delicious dishes. The shops with local flavors and a wide array of spices are truly delightful. Despite being right across from Mykonos Island, its ability to preserve its natural charm is incredibly beautiful. We highly recommend it to those seeking a quieter vacation.
Ano Syros is a charming medieval village on Syros Island. It was constructed during the later Byzantine era or early Frankish rule, and it boasts all the classic features of a Cycladic medieval settlement. You'll find tightly packed buildings lining narrow winding streets, with a circular layout and streets radiating from the center. The whole ambiance of the place gives you the feeling of wandering through a picturesque fortified citadel.
Vari Beach is about a 15-minute drive from the center of the island. Despite being one of the smallest bays on Syros Island, we found our favorite sea here. It's as calm as a pristine and enormous swimming pool, especially ideal for morning swims.
