ScottD, I received the X1 and have a very important question for you. In my initial two an only ride tests of this board, did you get deep enought into the battery that you reached the low battery vibration? And if so, were you at about three bars on the remote? And if so, did you board just all of sudden shut down? On my first test ride, the low battery indicator hit the controller. About five blocks later the board did a short hesitation and then all of sudden shut down. It actually locked up the rear left wheel and left a skid mark. I obviously ran off the board. I contacted ACEDECK and they asked if had done the update…of which I hadn’t because I knew nothing of the update that needed to be done. I then did the update the next morning. Charged the board. Took the board out for another test ride, and it did the same thing except this time the low battery hit the controller and two seconds (and I do mean two seconds) later the board just died. In both cases the board would not turn on as the battery was dead. I know if both cases the remote indicated there was at least three bars or about 30% of the battery left.
I am curious if you saw this in your testing

I'm really looking forward to the range test. I wish you had the 2wd board to see the maximum range for the 14s4p battery, but I guess we'll be able to see how the 4wd board compares to their website specs in real life.

    • @ryanmills5613
      @ryanmills5613 2 роки тому

The website and my experience with 4wd vs 2 wheel drive (both with DIY boards and a friends exway atlas) is that the amount of energy or amps pulled from the battery by 4 motors vs 2 motors is almost identical as in it takes as much energy to power 2 motors up to 25 mph and hold at speed as it does for 4 motors to do the same... just as bigger heavier wheels require more juice to rotate the 2 motors on a 2 wheel drive board work overtime where the 4 wheel motors can sip power to achieve the same. I might drop a video that actually demonstrates this with my VESC tool but busy busy now, cheers and ride safe but hard!

Honestly i think the charging port cover is a good idea...yes it's old school and rubber but this cover has a plug that goes inside the charging port AND also makes a good seal around the port to keep the dust/dirt away. It might be crappy to install but once you will get a feeling of it, you will appreciate the advantage of having a really well protected charging port. Cheers ✌️

4WD is really what I’d call their Race Spec, no other production in that price range could touch it,

Thanks for the review Scott, good video but I'm not liking. You have emphasized a lot on the ride feel of this board, a lot of personal opinions, more like you are marketing this board. However it being a new product, would be nice to see some more close ups of what a potential buyer is getting, the trucks, the bushings, the drive system etc. Personally i'm not feeling this board, the price point is too high for a company that has no previous history. I would not spend well over $2000 on a board from a company that has no customer service history, no long term product performance history, nothing besides a nice looking board and a lot of great sounding claims.

I'm not affiliated in any way with Scott or AceDecks, but for my two cents, if you just look at the quality of the materials used and compare the quality of components (eg. those trucks are not cheap trucks) to other higher end production board companies, the size of the battery, the fact that they built their own custom ESC. I can tell these guys are trying to be serious contenders in the esk8 market. Personally I've been looking for a 14s deck to come out in a production board for a long time. Unfortunately I just finished building my own 14s4p deck which cost me over $3500 and I had to build my own molicel 42a battery as well. The battery pack alone will cost you almost half the board cost. If I had to buy a new production board today or recommend one to a friend, my top two choices would be between this deck for speed and carving or the propel endeavor pro 2 for it's comfort and 5p battery range.
Saying all that though, I'm really not sure how they are getting 65km range on a 4p battery, especially when I'm only getting about 40km on mine (although I do cruise fairly aggressively), but I'm supremely interested in watching a range test on a 2wh version to see what it can really do.

As I understand it, the level of the ESK8 industry depends on the level of manufacturing in the supply chain and the product manager's understanding of the product. It is said that a group of electric skateboarders started the brand together, and they are not from outside of the industry. But they claim to have developed the controller or ESC themselves, which is something to look forward to. This is a good news for the industry because there are not so many ESC brands for mass production at present.

Charlie I'm going to be real with you mate, the specs speak for themselves. If you can't look at the quality of the trucks, the batteries, the deck, and not see how this absolutely dumps on every other board that is available then I can't convince you that Scott isn't trying to sell this board, it's genuinely as amazing as he is saying.

Range will be disappointing. It's only 870 wh. The board ways 40 lbs. My Kaly xl40 has a 1360wh battery and I get about 40 miles of range. This will be abysmal for a 2500 dollar board. If you're actually riding the board...like above 20mph the whole time....you'll be lucky to get 20 miles out of it with your weight. They should've made the deck a little thicker, and actually put a good size battery pack in there. 870wh is abysmal. That's going to be the weak point of this board. Should've charged 2600 for the board and put a bigger pack in there. Also...when are you gonna try a Kaly or a Lacroix? If this board impresses you, a Kaly or a Lacroix will blow your mind.

Tried a Lacroix, hated it, wanted to like it but it’s so far from a skateboard it’s more like a go cart not my style
Kaly: I was going to order one and asked around and heard a few horror stories about quality, that might not be a issue for usa based people but being in Australia a broken / faulty board would be a headache 🤕

@@scottdaviesyoutube that's weird. Kaly is known for the opposite. Massively more reliable than a Lacroix. Never have any issues with mine and the build quality is insanely good. It's a different kind of board. It isn't really good for low speed turning and carving. It's more for wide open street carving. It's an ungodly experience. I highly recommend it.

Yea if I ever see one here I’ll try but just too risky to ship to Australia.
Plus the exchange rate makes it a very very very expensive board plus GST, shipping and import tax
Hope to try one one day 😊

@@scottdaviesyoutube yeah that makes sense. Ernesto is a 1 man show but his customer service is crazy good. Answers his phone. Does video conferences to explain things. Endlessly impressed eith the product and service. Way better than Lacroix with all of their connectivity issues and gear drive issues. You'll be mindblown by a Kaly...believe me. Thr hoyt puck at first was weird and foreign to me. And the deck shape arched like that was also weird and foreign. Once I got a lot of miles, both grew on me. I now love the hoyt puck and the deck shape with the wings is nice. Definitely has a big board feel to it though...for sure.
