I seriously adore this cutscene, like everything else in Warcraft 3. Sure, the animation is different from today, but it's still quite stellar back in the day.
Couldn't Medivh just tell them about demons and the Legion? He's probably one of the worst guardians Azeroth ever had I mean lots of people died because he's so bad at warning people about the danger
In my headcanon, _The Tides of Darkness_ is the colloquial expression for the Burning Legion, because it's referencing the events that happened in WarCraft II. Lordaeron has already had its run-in with the Burning Legion not too long in the past, so at the very least they should have been more receptive.
Imagine a tornado would come in your area and destroy your house, but you don't know this. A meteorologist/ geologist comes to your house and says "hey you need to abandon everything, your house, and you need to go on another continent" BUT he doesn't tell you about the tornado. only that you need to leave. Would you leave your home because a stranger says so ? What I don't understand is why Medivh is not introducing himself as Medivh the last guardian or whatever his title. That would have given him some credibility.
@@manupainkiller it is possible Medivh didn't want them to know his identity. He had a bad reputation among humans. After all he was the one who opened the Dark Portal and led the orcs to Azeroth. For this he was killed and all the humans believe he is dead. As you mentioned the real problem is that he doesn't speak about the nature of the new threat eventhough the mages of Dalaran already have some evidence as the emissary mentiones.
Yea, he kept his "identity" and managed to "not fail humanity again" by convincing Jaina and a very small group of humans to cross the ocean. Very persuasive. I think it's safe to say more than 70% of the humans died during the Scourge invasion. He did FAIL humanity again !
Starting directly with the human campaign, technically there's a short prologue one but I'll put it before the Orc campaign to avoid confusions ;] Also, King Terenas should've listened...
@Sgt Invictus its funny how you call it old, I was born after reign of chaos came out and before the frozen throne expansion and still played and completed the game on my brothers pc, this game will never die

I like to imagine that the reason why Medivh's warning was so bad is because the tale is being told as an epic recollection of the events and not the actual events themselves. Like maybe in reality Medivh laid out his information on the undead-Legion collaboration and suggested a mass exodus, the council bickered for some thirty minutes and ultimately decided he might be a spy or evil or just wrong or mad or what have you and sent him on his merry way Like, no bard wants to elaborate on the details. He just says that Medivh warned them of the incoming doom and suggested a mad solution and the humans were too proud to listen
"The Burning Legion seeks to return. They're using the undead who are tied to the plague this guy just mentioned." Would have been more convincing than: The end is near! The darkness coming!
Watching this video again since it came out. Legit Medivh is the biggest dropkick for this "Warning". Legit just walked to a council in session like a raving lunatic. Granted a shapeshifting lunatic. But medivh was one of the most powerful beings of his time... ridiculous.
I have always loved this cinematic. But(lol) wouldn’t Terenas recognize Medivh and especially the Kirin tor representative. The guardians were in contact with the leaders of the world as their job was to defend or keep the peace. Terenas would have met Medivh and been familiar with him no question. It’s always confused me and it’s never mentioned that he does anything to hide his appearance at all.
Medivh's piece: Yet, prisoners they are, good king. Humanity is in peril, the tides of darkness have come again, and the whole world is poised on the brink of war! Hear me! The only hope for your people is to travel west to the forgotten lands of Kalimdor! I failed humanity once before and I will not to do so again. If you cannot take up this cup, I shall find another who will. *The warning has been given. Their fate is now their own.*

I do too
It has a charm that holds up even now.
It's the mystique that is quite lost nowdays
This hits different now during quarantine
Definitely
Getting pretty sick of being a prisoner in my own land.
true
@Wow Gaming lol
@Wow Gaming You DO remember how that "We don't put up a quarantine" ended?
Couldn't Medivh just tell them about demons and the Legion?
He's probably one of the worst guardians Azeroth ever had
I mean lots of people died because he's so bad at warning people about the danger
That would reveal his identity and I doubt they would trust a guy who had helped to open a dark portal.
Yeah then the human travelled to Kalimdor and everythimg went well with a happy ending
And the game?
@@naneri Still, the end result was _everyone died anyway_ so I doubt anything he could say would get a worse result than that.

Thats how oracles tend to deliver messages those days.
Medivh's warning is "very" persuading :D And he is like "I tried! I tried!"

He does not want them investigate, on how he got that info, because that would lead to his origins, as he was a traitor corrupted by burning legion

Mercenaru 70% of the humans in lorderon yes not the world. Stormwind was still standing and other places.
"I failed humanity once before and I will not do so again" That quote and the music!
and continues to fail humanity once again

To think that this game came out 2002 the CGI is really awesome that time and its still good til now.
yeah indeed
the warning has been given...
their fate is now their own
Coronavirus, the 11th plague
later his words echoes at the empty throne room of Lordaeron...
Omg!!!! By far one of the best games i have ever played!! Its cool that you decided to do vids on warcraft! You tha best

Probably you right, as even when Medivh started transforming guards would attack him logically
Man that aerial shot of Lordaeron is so beautiful. What a pretty city. Its a shame its all ruins now.
Medivh, your warning sounds about as credible as the drunk I met at the library trying to convince me of the Hollow Earth...

It is a shame, but if it were that way, we would not see arthas who was a palladin becoming a death knight

A Kalimdor Druid of the Claw in King Terenas' court
You meant Druid of the Talon...;p
where in the name of Tibus Heth do you see a Kalimdor druid?

His face wasn't visible from where Terenas was at that moment, and iirc, Medivh was believed dead at that point.
Medivh is like Raziel of Warcraft 3, because of the Same VA.
Thank you and God bless
how did medivh appear here when he died during the first war ?
wastn't he killed by kadgar after being corrupted by legion ?
he was resurrected by aegwyn (the former Guardian and his mother)
That was movie its before movue
@@subotboi3784 this is not before the movie.
I decided to pay too much attention to the guards, but the animators were prepared. They even communicate.
So he sent his son to investigate the plague issue, solid tactic, can't see what could go wrong...Right?
The voice acting was so spicy in wc3 and tft.
They don't make games like they used to.
beautiful.

Did any listen and flee to Kalimdor?
Thrall and Jaina
Yes.
Name of song when medivh is flying?
Medivh's theme
How does King Terenas not know who Medivh the Guardian is?
Medivh was mostly unknown for the rest of the humans, just the kirin tor and most of them haven't seen his face on his entire life.
Not a very convincing argument to travel to Kal. Also just kinda gave up.
Are medivh warming to arthas
story is amazing
