It feels like I've grown up with you guys, from Coppin' It Sweet in my alcoholic dungeon until this song with the most amazing girl a guy can wish for. It's been a long and bumpy ride, but dark as it sometimes was you guys were never far away. I still remember playing Day of the Dog over and over in the gym ages ago, as well as the excitement for Circus In The Sky. Eventually alcohol had to go, since the addiction was taking it's toll, which made Devil On My Shoulder hit especially close to home. I've lost many friends over the years, but the good people remained. Loving this new path and sound you legends, you're an inspiration for so many.

Flying colours/Running on Air/Circus in the Sky era was the epitome of Bliss n Eso. I'm not hating on this new stuff, the lyrics touch on good subjects but the
poetry of the early albums is not there. The overall feeling of these songs has shifted closer to a generic pop sound and the beats are lacking the richness in musical harmony that the earlier albums had. You will still go down as the greatest poets in hip hop in my book, your earlier work was a beautiful mosaic masterpiece. "That Kid hovers high yelling live love or die while he swallows caterpillars and spits butterflies" Is the most beautiful piece of poetry I've ever heard.

I listen to almost everything- classical, jazz, old R&B, blues, funk, rock, folk... even a little country. But as a rule, I'm not into rap. After Public Enemy and NWA, and a scant few others, nothing ever made sit back and think. Everything worth saying and acknowledging seemed to be said. So much is misogynistic, angry, talking about who's bigger and badder, killing, hurting others...blah, blah, blah.
This is real, powerful, meaningful, and accessible. It doesn't attack anyone, it's got a positive message, it's about family and community and taking care of each other. After the last few years of divisiveness, separation, fear, violence, and sadness, coming together and staying connected is more urgent then EVER. What sincere people of good will share and have in common is what will heal us and make us all stronger.
I listened to it twice. And I'll listen to more Bliss n Eso. I may never be much into rap...but if this is any indication, I can definitely get behind these guys. If you ever play near DC, I'm in. I'll bring friends, and I'm sure I'll meet more there. Music builds bonds. Music makes a difference.
