Could you drill out the broken stud and either thread for a new shoulder stud or buy extended shoulder studs that will thread into a nut on the bottom side of the plate.
You probably could rig something up like that which would probably be much stronger than this too. I was surprised when I got back to this one the stud wasn't broken here as well so if it continues on this one I will scratch my head on making it better. This place is high traffic anyway and going back on records it seems I am there yearly to repair this and other doors anyway.
